I am so excited to be right in front of the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mahattan New York. It opens all year round, except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year Day and the first Monday of May. It is very easy to get there by public transportation. The Museum has approximately 2 million permanent collections. The Met was built 1870 and it is 151 years old. This vedio is about God, Truth and Justice. Hello everyone, I am Luna Li. I am so excited to be right in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Manhattan, New York. It is located at 83rd Street and 5th Avenue. Let's go and check it out.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Lou in Paris.
British Museum in London and State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg are the most famous art museums in the world.
We are now in the Classic Art Gallery on the second floor. This oil painting is by Gorgino, an Italian painter.
The Vacation of St. Aloysius, Luigi Gonzaga.
An angel is seen holding the wreath above the saint's head.
This depicts the moment when St. Aloysius is giving up his power and wealth to become a clergy.
The next painting is called the Immaculate Conception.
This piece is by Guido Reni, an Italian painter of the Baroque period.
Why is she looking upward intensively?
Oh, there is a high being or god up there.
Let's take a closer look and see how many cherubs in this painting.
There are total 17 cherubs in this painting.
She is standing on the crescent moon put atop three cherubs.
One of the three cherubs faces upward.
Do you not spot the 12 cherubs on both sides of the Virgin?
In the painting, the Virgin gazes towards heaven.
Her flawless features manifest her purity.
Many of the characters in Guido Reni's paintings are seen with their eyes looking up.
That depicts their reverence towards God.
We also look at other paintings in the classical art gallery.
Next we move from the Italian art gallery to the French art gallery.
This oil painting is called the Death of Socrates.
It is the masterpiece of the new classical master Jean-Louis David.
It is one of the most valuable possessions I've met.
Its competition technique and theme are one of the best works in this human civilization.
Socrates insists the truth.
He was sentenced to death by drinking poison hamlock.
He could have been set free if he gave up the truth.
Throughout history, there are many examples of saints who were persecuted by the evil forces.
Socrates of Ancient Greece
Shakyamuni of Ancient India
Confucius had to move around and enjoy hardship in ancient China.
Jesus was nailed to the cross in ancient Rome.
Such tragedies seem endless.
The practice of Falun Dafa in present China is banned by the Chinese Communist Party.
The persecution has lasted over 20 years.
If we compare Plato to Confucius, Socrates would be like Lao Tzu.
Every detail is vivid.
Plato, a student of Socrates, is greatly distressed.
David had a lot of students.
In the early 19th century, he became one of the most influential artists in the world.
The Plinth of Broccoli was painted by Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres.
He was one of Jean-Louis David's students.
OK, this concludes our tour of the Met.
I have learned a lot.
Like Socrates, I want to be kind and speak truthfully.
Uphold truth and justice.
This is the biggest reward of my day.
Thank you for watching.
