The man taking the mound for the
A's is Jeffrey Springs.
He's been racking up quality
starts and Trey Turner will lead
it off for the Phillies against
Jeffrey Springs the three to
pitch misses on the outside
corner so Turner will draw a
leadoff walk.
Bryce Harper now up snapped his
seven game hitting streak after
an 0 for three performance last
night.
There goes Turner pitch take it
for a strike throw to second no
chance.
So that's his 14 stolen base
ground ball right side and it
goes right past Urias and
Turner's going to score.
Harper did his job just with two
strikes on the ball to the right
side to advance turn to third
with less than two outs and he
gets the bonus with the error to
Arias just flat out booted it
feels to take it.
Yeah forty first run in the
first inning this year for the
Phillies and now Schwartz up
with Harper over at first and he
pops it up a mile high and a
shallow right Urias in the sun
and he makes the catch back
pedaling.
Here's Castellanos Castellanos
lines one out toward right
center field on the run as
Clark he's not going to get it
it's going to go to the wall
Harper speeding around third
they're waving him home and
Castellanos will pull in a
second base with an RBI double
and the Phil's lead to nothing.
It's a great swing by Castellanos
and a great read by Bryce
Harper drives his ball out past
Clark and center field cutter
there.
He just goes with it.
The RBI for Castellanos is
twenty eighth of the year.
Thirteen doubles for Nick and
now J.T.
But he'll strike out rail Muto
strikeout for Jeffrey Springs
and two are gone able to get
real Muto to fish down and
expand Alec Bohm on a five game
hitting streak one to a swing
and a miss and Springs strikes
out to Christopher Sanchez
starts the bottom of the first
inning.
That's his second start on this
road trip hitting three thirty
five is Jacob Wilson.
Some folks say that he's the
odds on the rookie of the year
favorite right now three one
that's line fair down the third
baseline that'll tuck into the
corner Wilson rounds first he's
into second and the ball is
determined to be lodged
underneath the wall.
So a double for Wilson and
that's how we'll start off the
bottom of the first probably a
little more of the plate than
he wanted.
J.Willy is able to turn and
burn him in third in the
American League and batting
average third and hits this
having tremendous year.
So here's Rooker in the two to
pitch strike three called got
him looking and maybe a generous
call there for Sanchez to work
with on the inside part of the
plate and Rooker a strikeout
first of the game.
Tyler Soderstrom stands in from
the left side.
He hits her back toward the
middle.
Turner is there though and he
makes the play runner goes over
to third unqualified A's hitters
Shalong Lears has hit the best
against lefties for thirty eight
swing and a miss.
He did go back to the change up
and he got him second strikeout
on Duhar leads it off against
Christopher Sanchez and the one
pitch and that's a shot up the
middle back a second in the
center past the diving second
baseman Scott and the A's have a
start in the bottom of the
second.
Now an 11 game hitting streak
he's just finding more and more
ways to get on base.
But he has now and ball for only
the 18th walk given up by
Sanchez this year and that's at
50 in the third innings.
Max Schumann the batter and he
dribbles one left side picked up
by Sanchez throws to first in
time.
It does move the runners up to
second and third.
Here is Nick Kurtz who hit the
big home run in the ninth inning
last night.
Well that kicks away coming home
is on Duhar and Kurtz won't need
to put it in play this time
around.
The A's are on the board.
It's two to one so probably go
wild pitch.
See Sanchez just ends up jerking
a change up that Muto can't kick
out and get around of and do our
scores easily.
Ball for second walk in the
inning.
I'm not trying to make excuses
but I wonder if this mound has
anything to do with his command
right now.
Zach Wither not happy at all
about the mound last night.
We saw his command being
affected.
He said it was rock hard out
there.
It is a little harder because
they have to maintain the
integrity of the mound because
there's been so many games
played here.
Kurtz doesn't go from first
pitch is cut on and missed.
He went right back to that
change up such a good weapon for
him.
Third strikeout.
Now it's going to be up to
Jacob Wilson here with two outs
O2 and Wilson hits it the other
way.
How many times have we seen that
two to two.
This is a guy who has no problem
shooting the ball the other way.
I mean you can wake him up in
December and get him to go five
for five through the right side.
It feels like he knows if it's
up and out over the plate.
My job is to shoot it to the
right side and he does that.
Cash it in all for three walks
in the inning.
It's just not very Christopher
Sanchez like a fourth time this
year that he's walked three in a
game.
So now the bases are loaded and
Soderstrom is the batter.
Here's the three two and a
strike three called on the
outside corner.
Ninety five.
He made the pitch when he needed
Springs gave up two runs.
He's responded with two runs of
their own in the bottom of the
second.
It's been that way since here is
Alec Bohm and a high fly ball
out to left field Soderstrom's
going back to the wall.
It's gone.
The auxiliary scoreboard for
Alec Bohm his fourth home run of
the year and the Phillies
retake the lead three to two.
Look to me like Alec was sitting
on that one.
He got it and goes bridge to
left field.
That's one he could handle that
had hit me written all over it.
First one of the year he has
pulled three one that's cracked
to left and a dive by Soderstrom.
He caught that baseball.
How about it.
That's left fielder Tyler
Soderstrom to you.
Oh and a play by Soderstrom in
left field and the inning is
over.
Oh is he good out there.
Nick Kurtz will be the head of
the lead off the fourth to two.
And that's weekly tapped back to
the pitcher Sanchez gathers
quickly throw the first and
Harper has to move off the bag
to catch the baseball.
Look at the big man Rumble off
the line and they have a lead
off base runner Jacob Wilson
who's already got two hits
bouncer to third Bohm throws off
balance to second.
They get one and they get to
what a pick by Harper what a
turn by Scott five four three
double play the second one of
the game for the Philz one away
Soderstrom is up that's bounced
up the first base line Harper
comes in Harper applies the tag
and Soderstrom is out at first
base as he tried to dive past
just enough steam for Bryce to
get there and apply the tag or
hit any slower and Harpe's not
going to have a chance.
All right so two away here's a
swing and a hot shot to short
Turner can't handle the back
hand.
It'll go by him on a hop and
Langeleer is a board six
Langley is breaking for second
Riel Mutos throw down and she
dives in safely.
Speed Demon Shea Langeleer's
Duhar had a base hit as two of
them tonight.
Good lead for Langley is off
second one to defense.
Rob Thompson setting out that
could be it.
So the Phillies will go to the
bullpen.
It's a very early exit for
Christopher Sanchez.
Eighty three pitches six
inning.
It's a three three game as Kyle
Schwab leading off for the
Philz and a high fly ball a deep
right field.
Forget about it.
It's going to be on to the berm
and then it kicks into the
bullpen.
So a home run for Schwab or the
Phillies retake the lead his
eighteenth of the year.
And man did he make this place
seem small.
Three hits on the road trip.
All three have been homers.
Well that's the first home run
that Springs has given up to a
left hander this year.
Just one arms it out to right
field as we've seen him do on a
number of times throughout the
season.
There's some kind of strong in
there.
Lawrence Butler is pinch hitting
for the athletics three to
driven the left center in a way
to start the bottom of the six
the pinch hit double for Lawrence
Butler.
And guess who's coming up.
So here's Nick Kurtz to two
driven in the right center field
that is D.W.
And you want to talk about
rising to the occasion.
Nick Kurtz is about that action
Wilson two for three.
Now Wilson ground ball deep in
the hole short and it's
misplayed by Turner.
He hit it to the one spot where
it was going to be a lot of
trouble and Turner couldn't
handle it first and second one
out.
That's going to be it for Ruiz
as Carlos Hernandez will come
into this ballgame.
So a pitching change for the
Phillies two runners on with one
run out in a four four game
Rios off for pitch walk and the
bases are loaded for Soderstrom.
Popped up with a J.T. back
toward the screen.
It's coming back to him.
There's a lot of room and he
can't make the catch.
That never happens.
It just doesn't happen with J.T.
Again a lot of room behind home
plate and the way the wind
blows everything.
You can't give up on anything.
You've been given another
opportunity right now to make
this hurt.
This pitch line drive rocket in
the right field.
The Eilers Soderstrom
capitalizes on the real Muto
error and it's five to four
green and gold.
We're starting to see it.
They're starting to take
advantage of these mistakes
here.
The mistakes are coming in
bunches.
And right now they are just
passing the baton infield in for
Langley's out towards second
Scott Scott.
And he runs to the second base
back for one over to first in
time.
Third double play of the night.
So Sterner gets the call here
for the athletics against Bryce
Harper.
Twenty fifth appearance he's
only allowed runs in one of his
appearances.
Here's Harper runner on third
two outs Marsh the runner at
third and a line drive base in
it to center field that'll tie
the game up at five.
It's only the fourth hit a
left hander has against Sterner
this year.
It's a five five game Mr. Hotel
California Brent Rooker
hopefully like the Eagles.
This ball can soar out of the
ballpark to two.
Drive in the left center field
this Ross and the A's lead six
to five.
That's what you need.
That is absolutely what you
needed if you were the
athletics right now.
The Phillies have won eight in a
row.
The athletics have lost ten in a
row.
The A's lead it six to five as
we go to the top of the ninth
inning.
And Mason Miller is into the
ballgame.
This is his 18th game of the
year pitched last night and the
Phillies scored three runs
against him.
And now Kepler who was hit by a
pitching is only at bat and a
high fly ball to deep right
field.
And he has just tied this game
up off the Ruebler has tied it
up at six here at the top of the
ninth inning and the Phillies do
it again against Mason Miller.
No doubt or what a swing that
was.
We got a new ballgame one to
fastball.
Got him.
Kepler hits a home run ties the
game at six to six but the A's
have a chance to win in the
bottom of the ninth.
The new Phillies pitcher.
Left hander Tanner Banks last
night got his first save of the
season and a breaking ball in
there for a strike three call
stellar ninth inning Banks with
a one two three bottom of the
ninth.
Here's Scott real Muto at first
Castellanos at second to the
shortstop side diving stop by
Wilson.
He has no play but he just saved
a run.
That was a tremendous play by
Jacob Wilson.
The bases will be loaded.
It'll be an infield hit for
Bryson Scott to two.
He got him stuck with a
fastball frozen on the outside
edge one one driven high to
center field Butler moving over
still going and he's got it
home and holds down the fourth
despite some traffic.
We go to the bottom of the ten
Nick Kurtz to be the courtesy
runner.
The hitter is C.J. Alexander a
chance to be the hero here
Alexander little floater into
shallow right Castellanos coming
on it drops down.
And Kurtz will move to third.
And unfortunately the Grimace
that looks like it's going to be
a hit flexor.
We have got a pinch runner now
and a major league debut Logan
Davidson.
He will pinch run.
They will intentionally walk
Wilson and the bases will be
loaded for Rooker swing and a
fly ball center field Marshall
get under.
It's not that deep tagging a
third as Davidson.
He's coming home the throw to
the plate on one hop.
He is out and harsh to double
play and the Phillies get out of
the ten one away and still
runners at first and second.
Here's Schwerber.
There's a light drive down the
right field line.
That's going to be in for a base
hit.
It's a one hop off the wall and
kicks away from Alexander one
runners in.
Here comes Turner heading home
the throw by Arias not in time
and Schwerber will be out at
third base.
And now they're saying
interference at second base and
they are awarding Kyle Schwerber
third base.
Yeah Kyle Schwerber ran into
Davidson in between first and
second.
That's the call the obstruction
Logan Davidson in at first base
for the first time in his big
league career kind of watching
things unfold.
And Kyle Schwerber very
instinctually draws contact a
very very very tough play there
for Davidson to have to wear
Ginfield is in one out
Castellanos shoots this one the
other way.
Castellanos does and a sliding
catch made by Alexander.
Here comes Schwerber the throw
to the plate is not in time.
It's a three run inning.
Max Lazar is on to try to close
this one out for the Phil's as
we go to the bottom of the
eleventh inning.
Max Lazar twenty one career
saves in the minors and he's
trying to get his first major
league save here tonight.
Runners moved to second and
third and now Davidson gets a
chance for his first major
league plate appearance.
Swing and a miss.
He got him and the Phillies hang
on.
And have won nine consecutive
games as Max Lazar closes out
the eleventh inning for his
first major league save.
