A Quiet Expression of Love

A man says he is often told he is not demonstrative enough in his expression of love. But to him, love is simply a feeling of being peaceful. Has he misunderstood something about the nature of love?

Rupert says: ‘Love doesn’t have to come with a great ecstatic feeling. In fact, the feeling is not really love itself – it’s the expression of love at the level of the body or the mind. Love might not come with any emotion attached to it at all. It can just be this quiet feeling that at the deepest level you are one with the other.

‘Some people are given to more ecstatic expressions of love, and some people are quieter – they just feel this quiet sharing of being. That is also love. It doesn’t have to be something extraordinary or ecstatic or glowing.’
