Welcome and thanks for watching a new episode of The Elf.
In this episode, the last 11 Toto KNVB Cup finals will take place.
Let's get started.
In 2011, FC Twente and Ajax face each other in the final of the Toto KNVB Cup.
The Amsterdammers seem to take it easy with a comfortable 2-0 lead...
...through goals by Demi de Zeeuw.
He turns around and scores. And he does.
A cover error by Twente. Ajax 1-0.
And Lorenzo Ebecilio.
Ebecilio turns around. 2-0.
Ebecilio.
But FC Twente doesn't give up and comes back to score goals by Wout Brama and Theo Jansen.
Brama.
De Jong, Brama. Nice play. Brama 2-1.
Yes. Wout Brama can score nowadays.
De Jong runs past Van der Wiel and puts him back.
Jansen. And it's 2-2.
Theo Jansen scores again.
Like he's done so many times this season.
Ajax get the perfect chance to get back to the lead.
And there's a chance. Ebecilio.
No. Twente escapes.
But after a few good chances, it's still 2-2 after 90 minutes.
So they have to extend the lead.
In the 116th minute, a debatable free kick is given in favor of FC Twente.
Janko's pass to Vertonghen. No, it's Janko to Vertonghen.
The other way around. This leads to the decision.
Janko. And it's 3-2.
Mark Janko.
There's a lot of discussion, but the Tuckers can keep the cup after a very exciting final.
In 2012, PSV and Heracles can face each other.
It's Heracles' first time in club history to be in the cup final.
But after half an hour, the score is opened in a beautiful way.
Back of the post, past the goal.
And is it Toivonen who scores?
In the second half, PSV doubles the score with Dries Mertens.
Pasvier, too late. And goal. Yes, Mertens.
And a injury for Pasvier.
And a few minutes later, Jermaine Lentz makes a great shot.
Lentz. Goal by Lentz.
He's in the game so well.
PSV wins easily with Heracles' 3-0.
And can take the cup for the ninth time in club history.
A year later, PSV gets the chance to win the cup for the second year in a row.
AZ is the opponent now.
As soon as the game starts, there's a moment where Nick Viergever would have made a mistake.
But there's no penalty kick.
A few minutes later, the opener falls to the other side...
...by a beautiful rush from Adam Maher.
Beautiful. Maher does it himself. Yes.
Maher's class.
And not long after that, AZ is in danger again...
...by Josie El Tidor, who gives AZ a 2-0 lead.
El Tidor scores as well.
It's 2-0 for AZ in the quarterfinals.
PSV comes back in the game after a goal by Jurgen Locadia.
And he's going for it.
And he scores again.
In the second half, there are no more goals, but there was another controversial moment.
Not a good reception, but still a chance. Yes, and...
...nothing, says Kuipers. So that's a goal kick.
There's the contact. Not so much in the first instance, but in the second...
...Rijne hits Mertens.
With a shot on the post from Lentz, PSV gets another chance at a draw.
But in the end, AZ manages to take the lead...
...and win the KNVB Cup for the fourth time in a row.
In 2014, Pek Zwolle is in the club history for the third time in the cup final.
They can record a 2-minute win against Ajax.
What a goal. What a great goal by Ricardo van Rijn.
Pek doesn't give up, and comes back to 1-1 through Ryan Thomas.
Thomas touched the ball, and then it's a draw.
Zwolle quickly got the upper hand.
A few minutes later, Pek gets a free kick in a dangerous position...
...and the Zwolle boys are in the lead.
Zwolle shoots the ball from the post, and then the rebound.
Zwolle are in the lead.
To everyone's surprise, it's 3-1.
Is this not offside? Then it's 3-1 for Zwolle.
The flag is still low, and Ajax are in the lead within a few minutes.
Unbelievable.
Ajax don't have an answer to Pek's goals, and even get a 4-1 lead.
Is there more danger than this? Then it's 4-1. 4-1.
It doesn't stop there, because the Zwolle boys managed to score in the second half.
The ball is still there, but it's 5-1. 5-1.
Pek writes history and gives Ajax an unprecedented victory.
A 5-1 win at Ajax is the first cup win in the history of the Blue Fingers.
A year later, Pek is back in the final, and now they can face FC Groningen.
After more than an hour, Groningen open the score with Albert Rusnack.
The Slovaks double the lead to 2-0 ten minutes later.
With two goals from Rusnack, Groningen win the cup for the first time in club history.
In 2016, Feyenoord and FC Utrecht face each other in the final.
For the first time since 2004, Utrecht are in the final again...
...and have a chance to win the cup.
But a few minutes before the break, Feyenoord take the lead.
Kuit puts it forward, there's the header, and it's a goal.
Kramer scores, and Feyenoord lead.
A few minutes after the break, Utrecht are back at the same height.
The ball falls, and it's a goal.
Lewin scores.
In the end, Feyenoord win the final, after a beautiful solo from El Giro Elia.
Elia is back at Van der Warel.
He's in the corner.
Everything comes out. Look at the rebound from El Giro Elia.
For the first time since 2008, Feyenoord win the cup again...
...and there's a big rebound in the cup.
For the first time since 2008, Feyenoord win the cup again.
They're in the Europa League group stage again.
Wim Jansen scores, and it's the KNVB Cup for Feyenoord.
In 2017, two new teams will face each other in the final, AZ and Vitesse.
It's 0-0 for a long time, but in the 80th minute, the first goal is scored.
And there's the goal. It's a goal for Vitesse.
Ten minutes to go. Rikkie van Wolswinkel.
Just before time, it's Vitesse's striker who decides the game.
And he does. Twice. Rikkie van Wolswinkel, the man of this final.
Two goals from Rikkie van Wolswinkel make sure that Vitesse...
...win the KNVB Cup for the first time in club history.
A year later, AZ is in the final again.
This time, against Feyenoord, who get the chance to win a cup again.
Just like in 2016, the Rotterdammers take the lead.
After half an hour, Nikolaj Jรผrgensen scores the 1-0.
Back to Berghuis, and Bissot has it. Jรผrgensen has it.
It's 1-0 for Feyenoord, the 28th minute.
AZ can't score much, and 2-0 comes after a beautiful goal from Robin van Persie.
Back to Van Persie. What a great goal from Jรผrgensen.
This time, with so much feeling.
The Alkmaarders are close to the goal, but Feyenoord is saved by Jรผrgensen.
Once again, and Jรผrgensen gets it.
In injury time, Jens Toornstra scores.
Toornstra, for the 3-0.
And the reserve players can't hold it anymore.
In three years, Feyenoord win the KNVB Cup for the second time.
AZ lose the final for the second year in a row.
It's not 3-3 for AZ, as Willem II and Ajax face each other in the final in 2019.
Willem II has a chance to win a prize for the first time in 46 years.
The game becomes one-sided, and Ajax take the lead with Daley Blind.
Daley shoots, Blind shoots, and it's in.
So it's 1-0 for Ajax.
The man's goal in the last few months.
Less than two minutes later, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scores a great attack.
A beautiful shot from Ziyech.
Masrowi, back to Christensen.
Masrowi, Ziyech.
Ajax are on their way to Blind's goal. Huntelaar from De Beek is waiting.
Huntelaar can do it himself. What an attack by Ajax.
What a fabulous attack by the Amsterdammers.
In the second half, Huntelaar scores and scores for the 3-0.
Easy for Ajax to pass the ball. Masrowi, where will it go?
Tagliafico to the third goal, because that's how it's played out.
Huntelaar is at the finish line.
There's some doubt about Huntelaar's position, but so far it's 0-3.
Then Rasmus Christensen scores the fourth and final goal of the final.
Willem II was in full and short of breath for the first 35 minutes.
Ajax combine it easily and it's 4-0 for Christensen.
The right-back suddenly in the line-up.
And so Ajax win the cup for the 19th time in club history.
In 2020, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord both placed for the final of the KNVB Cup.
But because of the corona pandemic, the final was not played.
The following year, Ajax and Vitesse face each other...
...to play the cup final in an empty cup.
And also in this edition, Ajax start the final well.
Ryan Gravenberg opens the scoring halfway through the first half.
Gravenberg gets the ball and it's in.
What a goal.
Not long after that, Vitesse come up with an answer.
Now the cross to Openda, and it's a goal.
Vitesse 1-1. Openda scores, thanks to Broja.
It's a draw, but Vitesse defender Jacob Rasmussen turns the game around...
...after being sent off the pitch with a red card.
The yellow card is back. It's red.
He had yellow in his hand, but it's a red card for Rasmussen.
And in the end, the decision is still in the hands of Vitesse.
There's a chance, and it's in.
Neres shoots it in, and Ajax win the cup.
Ajax win the final for the second time in three years...
...and thus mark the 20th cup win in club history.
Last year, Ajax got the chance to win the cup for the third time in four years.
They can take it against PSV, and both teams make for a great final.
Ajax score first, through Ryan Gravenberg.
Gravenberg still finds Klaassen. Gravenberg, free kick, chance...
...and the goal for Ajax. Ryan Gravenberg in the 23rd minute.
But PSV come back in the game. The equaliser is on Guti's name.
Towards Sangarรฉ, and behind him, the equaliser, Gutierrez, scores.
It's 1-1. Early in the second half.
A few minutes later, the comeback is complete for the Eindhoven team...
...after Cody Gakpo scores the 2-1.
Cody Gakpo, and it's a goal. 2-1 PSV.
In one minute, the Eindhoven team turn it around.
A breathtaking, exciting final ends in 2-1 for PSV...
...who win the cup for the tenth time.
These were the 11 finals. Who will win the cup this year?
