The Red Sox, Stenway Park, against their former city mates, the Braves, who have been in Boston
and Milwaukee, and now in Atlanta.
This Atlanta team, after climbing out of that massive hole, has found its way into the National
League East Race.
Gialito, a right-hander, 30 years old, from L.A.
On the season, he's made three starts.
He's 1-1 with a 5.51 ERA.
A familiar name atop the Braves lineup.
Alex Verdugo bats from the left side, the enigmatic, at times frustrating, leadoff man
for the Red Sox.
Swing and a ground ball to third.
Bregman's got it on the second hop.
Verdugo is running hard for once, but he's retired.
Down the first baseline, there's one away.
Out by a beard, which has made its return.
So, a well-earned walk by Austin Reiling, and he's a board down for Matt Olsen.
Yeah, I don't think Matt Olsen's had too much trouble with Lucas.
He's 5'10 in his career, and so this is the time where he's ready to hit, ready to get
in the batter's box.
Olsen clocks one to deep right center field.
Back it goes towards the wall, and that's into the Red Sox bullpen.
It's another home run for Olsen off of Gialito.
He just branded his name on that baseball, his ninth homer of the year, and it's two-nothing
Braves.
Boy, what a jolt by Matt Olsen.
And for Olsen, that's actually his fourth home run versus Lucas Gialito in his career.
He is 6'11", with four homers against this guy.
Here comes Marcel Ozuna.
One-two all the way to Ozuna, and Ozuna rips one way in the air, flying back, and my goodness,
onto Lansdowne Street, well over the monster.
Back-to-back home runs by Olsen and Ozuna, and it's three-nothing Braves.
What a magnificent jolt by Ozuna, his seventh of the year, 417 feet for the Braves cleanup
hitter, RBI number 19.
It's one thing to struggle.
You cannot make those pitches to Olsen and Ozuna.
They're the guys in this lineup that can kill you, and he hung two pitches, and they both
went forever.
The guy who enjoyed the top of the first more than anybody is about to step onto the mound,
Grant Holmes with a three-nothing lead already.
He'll be facing Duran, Devers, and Bregman here at the bottom of the first inning.
Got him!
He took the fastball over and shot Duran.
He went down looking.
Duran Holmes' fastball has a nice ride to it, so as a hitter, you cannot give up on
that pitch.
One down at the inning, that'll bring Raphael Devers to the plate, and he swings and misses
at a curveball.
That was darting down, and Devers couldn't find it.
Back-to-back strikeouts for Grant Holmes, two down at the inning, that'll bring Alex
Bregman up to the plate.
Ground ball out to third, not a problem for Austin Riley, scoots cleanly, good throw across
the diamond, and down go the Red Sox, one, two, three.
Two down with runners at second and third for the very dangerous Austin Riley.
And don't discount the fact that Riley saw ten pitches in the first inning from Giolito
already.
Big sequence here, and a pop-up into left field.
Duran is going to get there.
A little can of corn, twilight sky, Jaron is there with two hands to make the play.
Inning over, and Giolito escapes.
Zuno walks again, that's his 38th walk this year.
Second walk allowed by Lucas Giolito.
Drake Baldwin the batter.
Braves leading three-nothing.
Baldwin cranks one, deep down the right field line, flying back, and way gone!
A screamer, deep down the right field line, and long gone.
A two-run homer by Drake Baldwin.
And the Braves are on top, five to nothing as they're pounding Giolito here at Fenway.
One-twelve off the bat, Ben.
He just keeps on impressing.
It looks like they might be checking this one if it was fair or foul.
All right, a crew chief review here, and they're going to take a peek at that.
Look, the ruling on the field is a home run.
They can't overturn that because there's not enough evidence, video evidence, to overturn
it.
So, Drake Baldwin keeps impressing.
First Red Sox to reach in the game, and it comes from a one-out walk to Carlos Narvaez.
One-and-oh for Duran, and Jaren Duran skies it centerfield.
Harris is back at the track.
Ball was smoked by Duran!
The start of the second time through lights up Fenway Park.
Duran!
Red Sox!
And it is five.
So now, second trip to the order, Charlie.
These guys have a little bit better understanding of what Grant Holmes is.
He's seen the Red Sox for the first time in his career, and they've had some better swings
here.
And now, all of a sudden, Christian Campbell comes up as the tying run.
Christian Campbell swings at a fly ball to deep centerfield.
Michael Harris going back with urgency.
Michael to the wall.
He goes!
Amazing play by Michael Harris.
There's nothing he can't get to.
And he saves the day on another incredible catch in center.
Right at the top of his jump in front of the centerfield wall.
Braves five, Red Sox two.
Top of the fourth inning.
Runner at second, two down.
Austin trying to get in on the action.
A walk in the first inning.
He was aboard for the Matt Olsen-Homer.
Riley awaits Giolito.
One-two, and he hits one in the air towards shallow left field.
Coming in Duran, going out Story, and it lands in for a base hit.
Perfectly placed between Duran and Story.
Eli White scores.
It's an RBI dunked into left field now for Austin Riley.
Great walk from Devers.
Fourth of the game.
And now, in a four-run game with two on and one out, here's Bregman.
And Atlanta is one of the three teams that Bregman has not homered against.
I'm just going to throw that out there.
And he hits a pop-up.
Left field.
Verdugo is under it, waiting on this to come down.
Makes the catch out and left.
And two down.
Nice job by Holmes getting Bregman to fly out to left.
Now he's got to go through Christian Campbell.
Chopper to short.
Gloved by Allen.
Feed to second.
They get the out there.
Holmes works around the error and the wall.
Braves traffic again.
Yeah, Birdie's got the capability of putting the ball on the ground with his type of movement.
See if he can get that double play ball right here.
Line hopper to second.
Story's got it at short.
Relay to first.
In time.
Double play.
Just what he needed.
Exactly.
Love the arm angle.
It's got a little bit of sink to it.
Very deceptive delivery.
All that equals up to getting a ground ball right there.
But now you've got Matt Olsen, who's red hot in this series, coming up with two on and two out.
Big spot here for Birdie.
Six to Atlanta.
Got to keep it right here.
Two-one is lined into left field.
That's a base hit.
Durant plays it on a hop.
They're going to wave the runner home.
Durant's throw is going to beat him by a mile.
Gun down at the plate.
So perfect for Dugo.
He did get the green light there.
And Durant made a great play for the final out of the inning.
Outstanding throw right there.
Great read to go get that baseball and come up gunning.
And now Grant Holmes knows that he's one good pitch away from six complete innings versus the Red Sox.
And likely being finished for the evening.
And don't you know he'd love to punctuate his outing with a strikeout right here of Narvaez.
And he gets him swinging on a cutter.
Great finish for Grant Holmes.
Here's Devers.
Double blocked and struck out.
Need a jolt right here, right now.
Swing and a line drive into left field.
That's a base hit.
Sadon coming around third.
He's going to score for Dugo.
Throws it home.
Of course, Devers is in the second base.
They take advantage of a mistake.
And the Red Sox have a run in with Devers at second.
Here we go.
Daniel De Los Santos is on for the Atlanta Braves.
It is 6-3 here at Fenway.
Devers is the runner at second base.
Bregman is 0-2 in the game, 0-5 in the series.
High drive into left field.
This hits a wall ball off that Benjamin Moore Fenway green.
And the Red Sox are within two.
It is 6-4.
I thought the left fielder had a beat on that ball off the bat.
But it just kept going.
And then I'm thinking, is this ball out of the ballpark?
Just missed it.
And now Montero on for the eighth, starting with Trevor Story.
Pitch all the way and a fly ball out towards deep right center field.
Michael Harris spreading back towards the bullpen at the wall.
And he brings it in and bangs into the wall.
Another terrific play defensively by Michael Harris who ran a long way to get there.
And again, takes their breath away with another great defensive play.
First and third for the Red Sox.
There is some fire coming off for the Red Sox bats.
Hamilton leading at first.
He runs.
The 0-1 is swung on a miss.
Throw to second.
Not in time.
Head first slide for Hamilton.
And the Red Sox have the tying runs in scoring position.
Runners are at second and third.
Two down at the bottom of the eighth inning.
New pitcher is Pierce Johnson.
And the man in the box is Jaron Duran.
Duran has had a really nice night.
Chance to tie it right here.
Duran drives one into right field.
A great piece of hitting right there.
Sitting back and letting the hands do the work.
The Braves have the go-ahead run at second base.
Ozzie at first.
Then it comes Michael Harris the second.
Two on, two out.
Tied at six.
A role as Chapman on the third base side of the rubber.
Fenway comes alive.
Two and two.
Swing and a miss.
He got the game.
Stays tied.
We go to the bottom of the ninth.
To the bottom of the ninth we go.
Boy, do the Red Sox feel like they need a win right here.
Tied at six.
It'll be Devers who's doubled, singled, and walked.
He's been great tonight.
The pitch is drilled high and deep.
And to six.
His first career walk-off home run for Rafael Devers.
I dare say he can play wherever he wants if he's going to do that.
