Hey guys, you know I'm big into foundational skills when it comes to programming, development,
design, etc. I talk about the foundations, how it's key to everything. I see it in finance as
being key, I see it in design as being key, in martial arts, and of course software development.
So in this video I'm going to talk about what I think are the five foundational skill
categories, if you will, for life. Now these are the things you got to work on over time
and if you do it's going to be very very useful to you. So well here it is here. I don't know if
you can see that. I'm going to put it here. So you could freeze that screen and I'm just going to
give you a quick commentary in this video and I might expand upon this later on. So number one,
you need great communication skills. Great communication skills. Talk about this in terms
of software development. Talk about this in terms of business. Talk about this in terms of dating.
If you know how to talk, you can communicate well, you listen well, etc. etc. It's going to help you
with your career. It's going to help you with your love life. It's going to help you with your
business. So great communication skills is something very important. I wish I would have
recognized how important it was 30 years ago. Trust me, learn to communicate well.
Number two, you need tech skills, coding skills. I believe even if you don't want to become a coder,
you should learn the basics of coding, understanding technology. Why? Because all
business is dependent on code and technology. A butcher needs a good website. They need to
understand the social media landscape. They need to know what tech is available to help automate
and streamline their business. This is a totally non-tech business. Now we can talk about tech
businesses, right? How important understanding technology and coding is. To me, learning
technology and how to code, it may not be as important as reading and writing, but it's up
there. It's up there. It's one of the five skills I think you should have. The third skill that I
is foundational. Financial skills. This is something that will assure your sanity and
a less stressful life if you just learn some basic financial skills. Basic saving, number one.
Number one, save. Number two, basic investing. Very important. Your life will be so much easier
if you just learn to save and invest properly. Trust me, it makes a huge difference. Another
very important skill. It's probably, might be arguably the most important. Lizard wizard skills.
Lizard wizard skills. What's that? Psychology, behavioral psychology, understanding how our
brains work, how everybody's brains work. It plays a huge role in terms of all the other skills,
all other aspects of your life. If you understand the lizard well, that's your lizard brain,
you'll be able to communicate better. You'll learn how to code much more easily. You have
better financial success. You have better success with relationships, and you have better business
ability as well. Trust me. And number five, the last one, is of course business skills. How to
make money. How to make money. Whether you're going to work for people, freelancing, starting
your own business. Well, some people might be saying, how does business skills help me if I'm
working for somebody? Trust me. If you can understand how the decision makers think,
those are the business people. If you can understand how business works, even as an
employee, it will help you better navigate within that context. It will help you rise up in the
ranks higher if that's your goal. It will help you to understand how to negotiate better salaries,
etc., etc., etc. These are the five foundational skills. Number one, communication. Number two,
tech and code skills. Number three, financial skills. Saving, investing. Number four,
lizard, wizard. Number five, business. All right. All right. I hope you found this useful. Bye-bye.
