Cake Batter:
4 eggs
A pinch of salt
10g (0.35 oz) vanilla sugar
130g (4.6 oz) sugar (added in parts)
Zest of 1 orange
90g (3.2 oz) orange juice (added to the yolks)
30ml (1 fl oz) vegetable oil
160g (5.6 oz) flour
30g (1 oz) cornstarch
7g (0.25 oz) baking powder

Orange Custard:
Zest of 2 oranges
Juice of 3 oranges (~250ml / 8.5 fl oz)
120g (4.2 oz) sugar
35g (1.2 oz) cornstarch
200ml (6.8 fl oz) cold water
4 egg yolks
1 can of canned mandarins
250g (8.8 oz) unsalted butter (room temperature)

Additional Notes:
Baking: Preheat oven to 170ยฐC (338ยฐF), bake for 30โ€“35 minutes in a 20cm (8-inch) pan.
Syrup: Use the syrup from the canned mandarins for soaking.
