The Monkey and the Crocodile Once upon a time, near a big river, there lived a clever monkey in a tall mango tree. The tree had sweet, juicy mangoes. The monkey loved eating mangoes every day. He was happy and lived all alone. One day, a crocodile came to the riverbank. He looked tired and hungry. The kind monkey said, You look hungry. Would you like some mangoes? The crocodile smiled and said, So the monkey picked the ripest mangoes and gave them to the crocodile. From that day on, the monkey and the crocodile became good friends. One day, the crocodile told his wife about the monkey. She said, The crocodile was sad. He didn't want to hurt his friend, but his wife kept asking. So he invited the monkey for a ride across the river. Come to my home, said the crocodile. You can meet my wife. The monkey was happy and jumped on the crocodile's back. But halfway across the river, the crocodile said, My wife wants to eat your heart. That's why I have brought you. The monkey was shocked, but he stayed calm. Oh! Why didn't you tell me earlier? The monkey said, I left my heart on the tree. Take me back and I'll get it. The silly crocodile believed him and swam back.
