Kids Create Handmade Bowls at Bat Trang Pottery Village
Bat Trang Village, located on the outskirts of Hanoi, is famous for its long-standing tradition of pottery making. It’s a fascinating place where both children and adults can try their hand at making pottery.
When you arrive, you can stop by any shop to try shaping a bowl, cup, or any item you like. The shop staff will guide you step by step through the process of creating your piece.
Pottery making is not easy—it requires patience and attention to detail. Don’t worry if your first attempt isn’t perfect—after all, "failure is the mother of success." The staff will always be there to help you adjust and improve your creation.
Once you finish shaping your piece, it will be dried for about 30 minutes. While waiting, you can stroll around the village, explore the pottery shops, and shop for your favorite ceramic items.
After about half an hour, you’ll return to the shop to begin painting your piece. There are two types of paint for you to choose from:
* Decorative paint: This type is used for items meant only for decoration. These pieces won’t be glazed, so they can’t be used to hold food. After painting, you can take the item home right away.
* Functional paint: This type is used for items like cups, bowls, and dishes. After painting, your piece will be glazed and fired to ensure it is food-safe. The finished product will then be delivered to your home within a few days.
This is sure to be a memorable and meaningful experience for people of all ages when visiting Bat Trang Pottery Village.
