Keep Questioning the Truth

When does questioning the truth become egoic? A woman asks Rupert to comment on a statement he made – that it is important to entertain all mental questioning. She wants to know if that also applies to questions that seem to arise from a space of self-identification, or the ego.

Rupert says: ‘Don’t dismiss your questions and think they are egoic. They come from your love of truth and your desire to live the truth. I would encourage you to keep on exploring. Only understanding brings a question to an end – not discipline.

‘One of the things that I was very grateful to Francis Lucille for was that he entertained my questions endlessly. He really gave me permission to think. And not many spiritual traditions do that. Most try to stop it prematurely, and that causes frustration. When there’s understanding, you will find yourself in peace.’
