Hey skaters! I'm Dirty Deborah Harry with the Dirty School of Skate and Sugar Roller Skates. I'm here
at the Fountain Valley Skating Center tonight to talk to you about how to do the downtown number
three. Now in previous videos, I showed you how to do the original and how to do the downtown number
five. If you have not seen these videos, you need to go back and you need to review those videos
because they have everything to do with what we're going to do tonight.
All right, so let's get the business of YouTube out of the way. I need you right now. Take a
moment. I need you to like. I need you to subscribe. I need you to share this video.
Every single time you do, you help me help you. The more subscribers I have, you know the drill.
The more videos I can make for you. So I appreciate you and thank you in advance for
taking care of me so I can take care of you. Let's get down to it. Okay, so all we're gonna
do tonight is a downtown with a stomp. This one's really fun. It's called number three.
So for skating in a group, I would start out by going like this. This would be the original.
Maybe I would go to number five, which is a downtown with a little double push like that.
And then I'd be over here and I'd throw up three fingers so that you would know that you need to
come like this and stomp, push. Back forward, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push. Over,
under, stomp, push. All right, now the basics. We are going to do a downtown. So that means
our body weight is down. You cannot do this up straight. It doesn't make sense. Your body,
and mostly we're talking about this, has to be down and low. We're looking for soft knees and
flexible hips, okay? So we're gonna start off with our downtown. We're gonna go five, six,
seven, eight. Push with your left, pull it back. Now my weight is on the back foot. That's gonna
be my left foot. I'm gonna pick my right foot up, step over. When I step over, my foot is like this
and it lands at an angle. I'm gonna step out, take this right foot, wrap it around the back,
step, stomp, push. Again, weight's on the back foot, it is over. Wrap around, under, stomp,
push. Over, under, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push. All right,
now those are the mechanics of it. It's up to you to put your own style and move into it, okay?
So that means whatever you're doing with your upper butt, whatever you're doing with your arms
is totally up to you. You don't have to do it exactly the way that I do it. Just remember,
everything in skating is about body weight transfer. It's not about the feet, but every time
we do things and we look at someone else doing it, we think, oh, it's only about the feet. In
reality, it's all about body weight transfer. So again, I'm gonna be down. I'll go five, six,
seven, eight. I pull back, weight is on the left foot. Over with the right, step over,
re-establishing my balance on the left. Wrap the right around, step, stomp, push. Left over,
left under, stomp, push. Right over, right under, stomp, push. Left over, left under, stomp, push.
All right, kiddos, that's the number three. Now, if you come back in the weeks to come,
I'll add a little bit more so we can get everything going together and we'll get a
whole dance thing, you know. I need you to send me your videos, of course, of you leading your
own little group. So you put two people on the side of you. You start like this and tell them
you want them to do the original, okay, and then you can throw up a number three.
Under, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push. Over, under, stomp, push.
Things to remember, we are always starting by skating to our left. We do everything in groups
of four. As you're going to your third one is where you throw up the hand signal to change.
So here's my original. This is my third original. I put up to change. There's one,
there's two, there's three. I let them know we're going to go back to the original
and here we are again. That's how we stay together as a group. All right, skaters,
that's all I got for you tonight. So I hope you practice, as always.
And again, send me tons of comments. You know I love them. I'll answer them all.
And until next time, go practice!
