like her or not, kim kardashian is an icon. a legend in her own right. she WILL go down in history as a mover and shaker in her industry, similar to the marilyn monroes of yesteryear. but is this a good thing? or are we putting potentially problematic people in positions of huge power and influence? kim kardashian has made no secret of the fact that she desired fame and fortune from a young age, and would stop at nothing to get it. and she got it! but at what cost? and what effect on society has her achieving her goal of world domination had? kim and her sisters are generally regarded as having had a negative influence on beauty standards everywhere. but is that fair? or is kim simply a victim of fame and fortune?
Creep. To move slowly and carefully in order to avoid being heard or noticed.
Nope, that's not right.
Creep. A person who behaves obsequiously in the hope of advancement.
Yep, that sounds about right.
I have made no secret of the fact that I am not Kim Kardashian's biggest fan.
As a figure of pop culture and an icon in her own way, because
yes, whether we like it or not, Kim Kardashian is an icon, she is a legend,
and she will go down in history as a mover and shaker in her industry
similar to, for example, Marilyn Monroe from like the 50s.
But Kim Kardashian is a strange creature.
And although she is the envy of millions of people globally, whether it be for her fame,
or her fortune, or her body, or her face, Kim K's life has been anything but ordinary.
So Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California on the 21st of October,
1980, to parents Kristen Mae Horton and Robert Kardashian.
Life began fairly normally for little Kim,
albeit she was born into wealth and privilege due to her father's job as a successful lawyer.
However, even from an early age, it seems that Kim had her eye on the prize.
Kim wanted fame and fortune, and it seems that she knew she was going to get it.
Here's a little clip that surfaced from 1994,
I think it was at Kim's high school graduation or something like that,
where Kim is proclaiming to everyone in the room and the camera that she is the most loved,
that she is dope on a rope, and that she was glad someone was filming
so that everyone could remember her when she was famous.
I didn't get a tape of this because I hope you do so you can see me when I'm famous
and all of you remember me, of this beautiful little girl.
Excuse me, are you leaving? Okay, okay.
My name's Kim Kardashian, I'm the dopest on the rope-est person in this class.
I'm dope on a rope, and you should learn my vocabulary and stop Lorenzo
because he's just jealous that I'm doper than he is, and that's just a fact.
Everyone loves me because I'm so popular and everyone loves me.
Kim wasn't alone in her hunt for fame and fortune.
From what I've seen, it seems as though Kim takes very much after her mother,
Kris, and that Kris also wanted fame and fortune, if not for herself, then for her daughter.
Now, if you thought that Kim unintentionally reached her goal of world domination by
appearing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, you'd be wrong.
Kim's dogged determination to win worldwide fame started way before that TV show ever aired.
Because Kim was born into wealth and privilege from the get-go,
she also went to schools where her schoolmates were also children of nepotism,
and thus Kim Kardashian became childhood friends with one Paris Hilton.
Kim obviously noticed that her friend was beating her on the path to fame,
with Paris starring in the hit TV show The Simple Life and then her own home video a few years later.
So not to be outdone, Kim ingeniously jumped on Paris' coattails and began
working as her closet organizer.
She also worked for the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie,
and Brandi as their closet organizer.
She would also gather up the clothes that her celebrity friends
no longer wanted and would sell them online.
Now, this obviously was not going to achieve Kim her goal of worldwide fame and fortune,
and Kim wasn't exactly content with being a lowly closet organizer,
so Kim enlisted the help of her stepbrother at the time, Brody Jenner, who was, at the time,
starring on the hugely successful reality show The Hills.
Kim wormed her way onto the show, appearing in a few scenes such as Heidi Montag and
But unfortunately for Kim, these scenes never made it to air.
Now, Kim is no fool, and she must have realized that by clinging to childhood friend Paris,
who by this point was at the height of her fame,
would help her get her own foot in the door of the rich and famous.
So Kim again used her connections and managed to worm her way
onto Paris' TV show, The Simple Life.
She also made a point of accompanying Paris to high-profile events and parties,
making sure that she was rubbing shoulders with people who might be able to help further her own
Don't judge her for that, I wish I had that kind of ruthlessness myself.
But unfortunately for poor Kim, the hustle for fame and fortune didn't come easily,
and if she didn't possess a somewhat creepy obsession with reaching fame and fortune,
she may never have achieved her goal.
How different the world would be!
So despite the setbacks, Kim kept trying,
and she did not let her pride get in the way of her relentless pursuit of fame.
Former editor at InTouch Weekly, Kevin Dixon says,
And I would promise her coverage in the magazine,
but the editors would back out.
We told her that if she wanted to be in the magazine, then she'd need to be on TV.
Then she appeared on The Simple Life alongside Paris Hilton,
and the magazine began writing about her.
Crafty!
So it seems at this point that Kim was well on her way to achieving her goal,
except that she wasn't.
Her small debuts in her friends' reality shows came to nothing.
But not to be put off, Kim kept trying.
After Nick Lachey, who also happened to be at the height of his fame in 2006,
divorced from Jessica Simpson, Kim was quick to make sure she was seen with him.
Nick himself is quite negative regarding his experience dating Kim,
saying that the two of them went on a date to the movies, and no one knew about it.
Kim then went to the bathroom, and it seems she may have pulled a few strings,
because then suddenly there were 25 paparazzi outside the theater when they left.
We went and saw Da Vinci Code together.
She left about halfway through.
She left the date?
Went to the restroom, and then shockingly there were 25 paparazzi when we left the theater.
I think there were other things in play on our little...
Now it seems as though after that, Nick didn't contact Kim again,
so they never officially began dating.
Perhaps he felt as though he couldn't trust her after she allegedly called the paps.
So Kim was back to square one.
Then came her big break.
Between 2002 and 2006, Kim was dating the rapper Ray J,
with her friend Paris Hilton's home video catapulting her to worldwide fame,
Kim's very own home video was released starring both herself and Ray J.
Now when the production company was first in talks regarding releasing this home video
to the public, it is apparent that Kim wanted nothing to do with it.
She filmed this video for herself and did not intend on the world seeing it.
Fair enough.
She and her lawyers even initially sued the production company because they did not want
this released, but ultimately in the end, it seems as though they settled,
and the tape was indeed released.
Now this home video was released a long time ago.
It is in history and it should stay there.
Except that it's not, and it hasn't.
After the home video became a storyline in the new series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians,
Ray J has now come out to vehemently defend himself.
Ray J says that Kris was the mastermind behind the release of this home video,
and that she watched multiple home videos with both Ray J and Kim,
and that she was the one who decided on the final home video that was released because it gave Kim
a better look, whatever that means.
He also says that the tape's release was the biggest lie in the industry
in the history of entertainment.
According to Ray J, the video was a deal and a partnership between him, Kim, and Kris,
and claims that he in fact was the one who suggested the idea of it to Kim after they
saw how successful Paris Hilton became after her own home video went public.
That home videos leaking was pretty commonplace back in the early 2000s.
It seems like everyone had their own home video,
and everybody was becoming successful off the back of it.
Now, Kris, for the record, has denied orchestrating the release of the home video,
even going so far as to appearing on James Corden's Late Late Show and being hooked up
to a lie detector test, which seemed to prove that she is telling the truth and she had no
part to play in this home video being released.
However, guys, let's be totally honest here and acknowledge the fact that Kris would have
known prior to going on the show that she was going to be hooked up to a lie detector test,
and that she was going to be asked this very question,
and that she was going to be proven innocent, because I highly,
highly doubt she would have gone on the show completely blind to all this.
It's quite controversial.
So whether Kim and Kris were in fact the masterminds behind this home video's release,
which in my humble opinion would be a very risky way to achieve fame and fortune,
or whether it was indeed leaked and Kim was a victim,
the fact remains that Vivid Entertainment, who released the tape,
needed to have the permission of both Kim and Ray J before the tape ever went into production,
which they clearly got.
Who knows what really went down.
Although it is reported that Kim earned $5 million from the release of the tape.
It is also very interesting to note that Keeping Up With The Kardashians first aired in October
2007, only a few months after the home video was released.
It has been speculated online that perhaps the home video was a creative way of generating
marketing and interest in her and her family's new reality show.
Because to be fair, before that, no one really knew who they were.
And if that is the case, it worked.
So whether it was intentional or not, clearly the video,
and then the show, helped propel Kim and the rest of her family to global fame.
And in the process, it also totally destroyed Kim's friendship with her childhood friend,
Paris Hilton.
Paris allegedly didn't believe that Kim's home video was leaked,
and eventually it led to her show, The Simple Life, being cancelled,
and the production company behind The Simple Life,
created Keeping Up With The Kardashians instead.
Very interesting.
I think we all know someone who has used other people to climb the ladder of success,
and then disposed of those people when they were no longer useful to them.
Is Kim one of those people?
Potentially.
So after Keeping Up With The Kardashians launched,
Kim and her mum worked hard to clean up her image,
and positioned Kim as a fashion icon in the industry.
And good for her, turning what she claims was a shitty situation
into something positive for herself.
And I totally support that.
If only that's where it ended.
But it didn't.
Instead of using her newfound fame and fortune for good,
Kim and her family have essentially single-handedly
changed the beauty standards for the worst.
Not to mention Kim's alleged sneaky bitchy side,
and the way she manipulates not only her own image,
but that of her children.
Let's get into it.
So recently a clip has been released that is allegedly a voice note
that Kim left on Ray J's answering machine back in the day,
calling him disgusting, a sick human being, and desperate for attention.
But she doesn't stop there.
She also goes on to call the legendary Whitney Houston,
who Ray J dated on and off for several years,
an old hag and a crackhead.
Now we don't know what drove Kim to leave a voice note like that
on Ray J's answering machine,
but it doesn't paint her in a very nice light.
Kim tries really hard to maintain the image of a sweet,
friendly, personable fashion icon.
But we have seen her mask slip on occasion.
No one wants you in the shoot.
I don't want you in the shoot.
Get the f*** out of here and go.
No f***ing shoot.
I'm planning it.
You guys just do nice to each other.
So we don't want you in the shoot.
Shut the f*** up.
Maybe if you had a f***ing business that you were passionate about,
then you would know what it takes to run a f***ing business,
but you don't.
So don't even act like you know what I'm talking about.
Kourtney did not be so f***ing annoying with a stick up her ass,
like she f***ing runs this s*** because she doesn't.
She's the least exciting to look at.
Don't be f***ing rude.
Are you kidding me?
I swear to God.
Don't be f***ing throwing the thing on me.
I'll f***ing hurt you.
Don't do that.
Kim is a human and humans have emotions.
And sometimes those emotions are negative and that is okay.
So then there is the disastrous consequence that Kim achieving her goal
of worldwide domination has had on women everywhere.
We're talking beauty standards.
When Kim burst onto the scene in the early 2000s,
Then she realized that the public and the media were making a big deal
about the junk in her trunk.
I mean, even her own mother couldn't help but acknowledge her hiney.
So Kim did, as Kim does best, capitalized on it and monetized her most famous asset.
Apparently, she even has her butt insured for like a couple of million dollars.
Rumors abound that Kim underwent a BBL in order to highlight her butt
and make it even bigger.
And judging from these pictures of Kim's figure before fame
versus her figure post fame, I can see why.
Her butt ballooned whereas the rest of her got smaller.
It's not the way bodies usually work.
However, if you had had the fat sucked out of your stomach and your back
and re-injected into your butt, it would make sense.
Kim maintains that she's never done anything to her famous body
aside from diet and exercise.
And that her butt just grew and her waist just shrunk naturally.
Now, I'm not going to sit here and call Kim a liar because I wasn't there.
I'm not her plastic surgeon.
I don't know what she has or hasn't had done.
Quite frankly, I don't want to get sued.
But I do have my doubts.
Kim and the rest of her family are accused of contributing negatively
to the unrealistic standards that are placed upon women everywhere.
And I don't disagree with that.
Not to mention Kim's own personal effect on diet culture,
which is so damaging and so toxic in itself.
Kim is literally a billionaire.
And in my humble opinion, billionaires don't really need more money.
I mean, they probably have enough.
So why is Kim with her billions of dollars already sitting in the bank?
Why is she accepting money from companies who heavily push diet culture?
When so many women world over are struggling with their mental
and physical health and body image because of the effect of the Kardashian clan.
Accepting money to promote items such as weight suppressant lollipops
and waist trainers and weight loss shakes.
When she would know full well that the large majority of her audience,
of her fans, of her followers are young, young women.
Where is the care and the regard for the health of her followers
who are influenced by everything she says and does?
Who will try to emulate her and follow in her footsteps
and in turn underrate and crash diet in an attempt to look like Kim?
It's that kind of behavior that makes me look at Kim and think,
you are a creep.
You don't need the money.
That much is clear.
So why don't you put the health and well-being of your followers
ahead of the almighty dollar and live a more ethical life?
Anyway, you guys, that's my two cents on this topic.
I would love to hear your opinions in the comments below.
I love your guts, guys, and I'll see you in my next video.
Bye.
