This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. We spend 90,000 hours (or nearly a third) of our waking lives at work yet many people fail to think strongly about career choices and the positive impact that they can have on both yourself and others. This talk seeks to convince you that making courageous career choices and following your passion is not just for rebels, misfits, and activists. It is an imperative for us all.

Dupsy Abiola is an academic scholar, lawyer, and entrepreneur. Her father was a famous Nigerian entrepreneur, philanthropist and democratic leader and inspired her passion for helping people. She graduated from Oxford University and left a successful career in law to found Intern Avenue, a recruiting platform which matches young people with great employers. Her company has won numerous awards including Best Recruitment Start Up in Europe. It was recently given a TSB grant from the UK government, and announced a major partnership with Vodafone. Dupsy has been shortlisted on the Thomson Reuters Power List as one of the most influential black businesswomen in Great Britain. She has been featured in the press and on television relating to recruitment, business, and entrepreneurial pursuits including successfully pitched on BBC Dragons' Den. She is keen that everyone make bold and courageous career choices.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
