In Jake had always been someone who
sought peace and quiet which is why
fishing had quickly become his favorite
weekend
Pastime the Stillness of the water the
sound of the breeze brushing the surface
and the occasional excitement of a catch
he cherished it
all for weeks he would go to his usual
fishing spot a small Lake not far from
home spending hours in
contemplation fishing had become his
escape from the chaotic demands of daily
life one Saturday morning Jake decided
it was time for something new he had
read online about a remote Lake one that
was a few hours drive from the city
nestled in the Hills far away from the
usual hustle and
bustle the idea of solitude and a fresh
fishing spot thrilled him he packed his
gear hopped into his truck and set off
early in the morning eager for what the
day would bring little did he know the
peaceful fishing trip he had planned
would turn into something far darker and
more
unsettling the drive to the new Lake was
long but the scenic views along the way
made it
worthwhile Jake could already imagine
the satisfaction of casting his line
into the unfamiliar
Waters when he finally arrived he was
not
disappointed the lake was vast
surrounded by dense woods with barely a
sign of human
activity it was perfect there was
something about the untouched beauty of
the place that made him feel like like
he had discovered a Hidden Gem he set up
his gear settled on the shore and cast
his line into the
water the morning sun was warm on his
skin the air fresh with the scent of
Pine and Earth hours passed but Jake
didn't mind he enjoyed the meditative
calm that came with waiting for a bite
and as the afternoon approached he began
to relax even
more suddenly his broad jerked Jake sat
up straight his heart racing with
excitement finally a bite he stood up
bracing himself against the weight at
the end of his line and began to reel it
in whatever was on the other side was
strong thrashing about in the water with
surprising
Force Jake grinned this was going to be
a big
catch as he continued to reel in his
line something about the struggle felt
different the tension on the line wasn't
like anything he'd experienced
before he Shrugged it off thinking it
was just a larger than usual fish but
the closer the catch came to the surface
the more uneasy Jake
became the water around his line rippled
strangely and there was a deep unnatural
thrumming beneath the
surface when Jake finally pulled the
fish out of the water
his excitement quickly turned into
confusion the fish was unlike anything
he'd ever seen its scales shimmered in
the sunlight but not in the typical way
they were an odd iridescent color that
shifted between shades of green blue and
even silver the body was sleek and
elongated with large almost translucent
fins that looked like they could lift
the creature right out of the water
what the hell are you Jake muttered
turning the fish over in his
hands its eyes were unsettling large and
glowing faintly with a depth that seemed
almost
unnatural it didn't flop or struggle
like a regular fish
either instead it seemed to move
deliberately as if it were aware of
Jake's presence curiosity overrode his
unease Jake placed the strange fish in
into a bucket filled with water
intending to release it after taking a
better
look he wiped his hands on his jeans and
pulled out his
phone quickly he took a few photos of
the creature figuring it might make for
an interesting Post in one of his online
fishing groups after all he'd never seen
anything like this before he uploaded
the pictures with the caption caught
this weird fish at a new Lake anyone
know what it is then he cast his line
back into the water and sat back
occasionally glancing at the bucket
where the fish floated silently hours
passed with no more bites and Jake's
thoughts kept drifting back to the
strange fish every once in a while he
checked his phone hoping someone in the
Forum might have identified it but the
responses were mostly curiosity or jokes
no one had ever seen anything like it
until one response caught his
attention Jake's phone buzzed with the
notification he glanced at it and saw a
reply from a user named Mark the comment
read get out of there now frowning Jake
read it again confused what was that
supposed to mean he clicked on Mark's
profile but there wasn't much
information just a generic username and
no posts he sent a quick reply
why it's just a fish do you know what
kind it is he waited for a response but
didn't get one right away Jake Shrugged
it off figuring it was some sort of
prank and returned to his
fishing the sun was beginning to set
casting a golden hue over the lake but
something was different now the
peacefulness he had enjoyed earlier had
been replaced by an unsettling
quiet the usual sounds of nature the
birds the rustle of leaves had all but
vanished Jake's phone buzzed again it
was Mark leave now do not touch that
fish
again Goosebumps prickled Jake's skin
what kind of joke was this he glanced at
the bucket where the strange fish was
still floating the water in the bucket
had a faint unnatural glow to it now and
the fish seemed to move lazily its
glowing eyes still fixated on him
nervously Jake typed back why what's
going on Mark responded almost
instantly that fish isn't from there
it's dangerous get out before it's too
late Jake's pulse quickened the words
seemed
ridiculous but the urgency in them
unnerved him what did Mark mean by not
from there he couldn't shake the growing
sense of dread that was creeping up his
spine the more he stared at the fish the
more he felt like there was something
terribly
wrong Jake stood up looking around the
lake the Eerie quiet was suffocating now
and a low Mist had started to roll over
the surface of the water it felt like
the world around him was closing in he
glanced back at the fish and then at his
gear debating whether to pack up and
leave but his curiosity wouldn't let let
him he needed
answers he took a deep breath and pulled
out his phone again this time searching
for any mention of strange fish
sightings in the
area the results were vague but there
were a few obscure articles about
environmental anomalies near remote
Lakes some mentioned odd animal
behavior others unexplained
disappearances none of it made any sense
but Jake's gut told him that something
was was off about this Lake suddenly the
fish in the bucket began to thrash
violently splashing water
everywhere startled Jake stepped back
watching as the fish flopped against the
side of the bucket with unnatural Force
the glowing in its eyes intensified and
the water around it bubbled slightly
almost as if it were
boiling Jake's phone buzzed again get
out now it's too late
Panic surged through him and this time
Jake didn't hesitate he grabbed his gear
threw it into his truck and sprinted
back toward the lake to dump the
fish but as he reached for the bucket
his hand brushed the water and a searing
pain shot up his arm Jake recoiled in
shock clutching his hand it was burning
the skin red and swollen where he had
touched the water the fish thrashed
harder now and the water in the bucket
glowed
ominously his phone buzzed again but
Jake didn't look his mind was racing he
had to leave now he kicked the bucket
over sending the fish flopping onto the
shore its glowing body writhing on the
dirt without looking back Jake jumped
into his truck and sped off his heart
pounding in his chest the drive home was
a blur his mind raced with a thousand
questions but no answers the pain in his
hand was unbearable and his skin had
started to blister he gritted his teeth
fighting the urge to scream something
was horribly
wrong by the Time Jake arrived home his
entire arm was swollen he rushed into
his house frantically trying to wash the
burn with cold water but nothing seemed
to help his hand was robbing the skin
turning an alarming shade of red and
purple desperate he drove to the nearest
hospital his vision blurring with
pain when the doctor saw his arm their
concern was immediate they treated him
with what they could but no one had any
idea what had caused such a severe
reaction for the next few days Jake was
in and out of medical facilities but his
condition only worsened his body began
to ache his vision would blur and
strange dreams filled his sleep visions
of the lake the fish and the glowing
eyes that haunted him in a Las Stitch
effort to find answers Jake reached out
to Mark again sending a frantic message
but there was no reply he tried
searching for Mark's profile but it had
disappeared the fish the lake marks
warnings it all seemed like a fever
dream
now but the pain in Jake's arm was real
the nightmares were real whatever had
happened at that Lake had changed him
and whatever it was Jake knew deep down
it wasn't over weeks passed and Jake's
condition
stabilized but the fear never left him
he gave up fishing altogether unable to
shake the sense of dread that now
accompanied the thought of water every
now and then he would search online for
any updates on the strange fish or the
lake but nothing came up until one day
months later when he stumbled across a
small news article buried deep on a
forum it was about a lake his Lake and
how the wildlife around it had suddenly
vanished the lake itself had dried up
leaving nothing but Barren land and in
its
place Jake stared at the article a chill
running down his
spine he knew without a doubt that the
fish he had caught had something to do
with it the Eerie silence the glowing
eyes the strange messages from Mark it
all pointed to something far more
Sinister than he had ever
imagined the story wasn't
over and deep down Jake knew that
whatever had started at that Lake was
only the beginning of something much
much
worse e
