What FAA just did with SpaceX will blow your Mind, Shocked Blue Origin..
Breaking into the commercial space industry takes more than just overcoming tough engineering challenges and clearing regulatory hurdles—you also have to navigate the competitive maneuvers of your rivals.
SpaceX is a prime example of this.
Thanks to relentless innovation and determination, SpaceX has quickly risen to dominate the industry, making significant strides with its ambitious Starship program. That momentum is now fueling even bigger plans: expanding Starship operations not just at its main hub in Texas, but also at the historic Florida launch complex.
Blue Origin has been working to slow that progress, but with recent FAA actions favoring SpaceX, those efforts might just fall short.
We’re breaking it all down for you in today’s episode of Techmap!

Last year, Elon Musk set the goal of 25 Starship Launches in 2025, and now, he is halfway to achieving that goal.
The FAA has approved SpaceX to increase Starship launches at its Texas Starbase from 5 to 25 per year. This decision came after an environmental review found that the higher launch rate would not cause significant harm to the environment. The approval also covers up to 25 landings of the Ship and 25 of the Super Heavy booster. The previous limitation was for up to five annual launches, ten Ship landings, and five Super Heavy landings. However, following the 2024 test flights, Musk's rocketeers want to increase that cadence, which means updating the license and the environmental assessment (EA).

""The FAA has determined that modifying SpaceX’s vehicle operator license supporting the increased launch and landing cadence of the Starship/Super Heavy launch vehicle would not significantly impact the quality of the human environment,"" the FAA stated in the Mitigated Finding of No Significant Impact.
This finding was hardly a surprise; a draft environmental assessment issued by the FAA last November allowed the 25-flight cadence as well.
Contained in the Final Tiered Environmental Assessment released in April 2025 are some interesting bits and pieces of information regarding SpaceX's plan for its monster rocket this year.
