In the animal justice system,
it's not OK for exotic
animals to wander the streets.
It's also against Fort
Lauderdale, Florida's city law.
I'm trying to catch a kangaroo.
It was a call the Fort Lauderdale
Police Department will never forget.
Come around, come around a kangaroo
running loose on the streets.
So officers jumped into action.
But the kangaroo had no regard for the law.
So they took the animal
into their own hands.
It appeared to be acting alone.
Police said the owner was
nowhere to be found.
We actually captured the kangaroo.
In your how many years
you've ever seen a kangaroo?
I'm so happy.
Cops put the kangaroo in
their car to take it away,
but even the animals tail
made it difficult.
Get in there with him.
No one was harmed and the kangaroo won't
be able to bounce around for now.
It was taken to the police stables
where it remains in lockup.
Our officers responded to the scene,
safely took him into custody,
transported him here to our
stables where he's safe and sound.
While FWC conducts their investigation,
he will later be turned over
to their care and that will be
our involvement with this case.
The kangaroo may not have committed a crime,
but the question is who let it loose to
run lawlessly on the streets of Fort Lauderdale?
The Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission will soon
take the animal into custody
and investigate.
