Hello everyone and welcome to the Little Blue Fly.
In today's video we're going to be cleaning up this mess.
And there's items all over the floor and yes I'm just going through it right now.
But so we're going to be getting items out of here, decorating on top of the kitchen cabinets
today. Then I will come back in another video and decorate a little bit on the countertops
but leave some areas still vacant or empty because I want to have little surprises
throughout during the spring home tour where we will walk around the entire home.
So that being said let's begin shall we? Okay as you can see we have quite a bit going on here.
I do apologize for not having a video out yesterday. I just I'm doing so much cleanup.
I really am doing spring cleanup and organizing and I thought okay well I'm sure we can handle
being a day later. So here we are later in the evening hours but better late than never right?
So here we go. On top of the cabinetry I will be adding fabulous touches of some English country
and definitely a French country vibe here in the kitchen area. I just wanted to share this for
those that are new. I decorated the inside of this cabinet with some English country
dinnerware from William Sonoma and I do have some vintage, well antique pieces in here as well.
As well to the left is an old clock radio that we took out all the mechanics because it
just is not working anymore and I decided to place in some of my antique
blue and white iron stones. I like adding the different unexpected pieces of decor in my home.
It just I like the way it speaks to me if that makes sense. Now I will be sharing a link for
these dishes I purchased from William Sonoma. Okay let's start things off with this sweet little
antique basket I purchased from an antique store and inside it has you know this little
pie tray and I think well I'm almost positive I'm going to take that piece out and try to work it in
with the decorating today. So the basket it just has an unusual shape and style to it and I thought
you know since I'm going French country in my kitchen let me incorporate quite a bit of baskets
up here I thought. I really didn't know which way to go, just lack of inspiration lately.
So that was another reason why video you know wasn't happening yesterday because I just
I was having issues. I just was having a hard time putting things together. I just couldn't
figure out what I wanted so I placed another basket off to the side and I slid the top of
the bottom basket over a little bit because it just it's going to bring opportunity in the near
future to add something in there. It's all about making the most out of your spaces.
Even though I have a lot of space here I still want to make extra space because I'm such a
maximalist but anyhow. So I added another antique basket down below. I love looking for these on
Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes you get a steal on baskets. So I have the inside the pie tray
as you can see out on the cabinet top with another basket over in the corner and
one of my flow blue plates. I purchased this when I purchased the iron stones
from that estate sale and down below here we have a terrine that is part of the ironstone
collection from 1860s. Beautiful English pattern. It is an antique minton iron stone from the 1860s.
I have quite a I was well I acquired a fabulous collection of these iron stones and I decided
to use some of them on top of the cabinets. So I have a flow blue over to the left,
ironstone over to the right. I love mixing my blues together the darker with the lighter
and we're going to see how all of this just works out today. I have another
antique flow blue here that I will be placing next to the ironstone above the other cabinet
and there we have it have it up and as you can see the flow blues go well with the blue and
white iron stones. Now I'm trying my best to have decent lighting in here. We're just
we've been raining quite a bit just cloudy for the majority of these past couple days so
bear with me here a little bit. So I thought to work with the blues I was going to place
a couple of these topiary pots up above the cabinets as well. I do have a video
where I made these for those of you that might have missed it. It is a very simple process
easy to achieve and I purchased all of the items at minus the moss. The moss came from Home Depot
but all of the greenery came from Hobby Lobby and the vessel as well. So for those of you that are
interested at the very end of this video I will share this a link to go watch this video.
And by adding the dark you know the touch of the black with the blue and the greenery it just
warms everything up and just gives it that extra punch of character. So never be afraid to decorate
with black in your decor because it's a winner. I placed one off to the other side now but the big
oval platter to the left I will be moving it over and then placing some blues in the basket as well
because the cabinet over to the left it really can't mimic the one over to the right because it
is longer. It can but can't. So I moved the platter over just a little bit and placed in
a couple blues in the basket. Now sure can you see them quite a bit in the basket? No.
I'm sure in the near future though I will be raising things up a bit inside of this basket
but just knowing that they're there I can see it through the weave and also it's just it's a
nice way to not only display but store the blues that I love to work with because it will be
nothing for me to come up here and grab a piece and place it around the house. Okay then I have
antique French cutting board here that I thought would just be a perfect backdrop being that we're
in the kitchen and all to just have this old very loved wood cutting board.
Now to work in some of my Arthur Court rooster canisters. Now these have been retired
but they can still be found on eBay. You might even get lucky and find some on Facebook
Marketplace. You definitely will get a better deal finding it on Facebook Marketplace because
these have gone up quite a bit since the very first time I shared these. But I have different
pastas and faux fruit. And this little one here this sweet one it's you know the smallest one
I have I decided to add in some greenery picks. These were purchased from Hobby Lobby so I just
you know I'm wanting to just spread them around a little bit inside of the jar and then of course
we won't be using all of these pears it's not big enough but I'm able to fit two of them in there so
I'm happy about that. So again we just have different colors of pasta and some faux fruit
and it just adds the perfect French country touch up above. I do have you know of course
touches of the English country going on here in the kitchen as well because I love it so much but
the French country will really pull through in my kitchen when I am finished with everything.
Different linens will be added, florals. I'm just giving a good base for right now of things.
I'm loving all of the different baskets so off to the right of the Arthur Court canisters
I placed the pie stand and another basket. So possibly this Sunday because it will be another
video I will have these filled by then if not we're gonna we're going to scoot on into the
living room and do quite a bit of French country decorating in there. So pulling back so you can
see everything I have a clean kitchen. I love having a clean kitchen now my oldest daughter's
going to want to come in here and bake bread and it just something about a clean kitchen motivates
them to to mess it all up but anyhow it's okay. Now over here on the island I have this I will
share a link for this is in my Amazon storefront it is a very large preserved boxwood topiary.
I love this piece the vessel is aged it has cracking going through the pot
and the green bringing the the faux in this is real preserved together is just everything
mixing the two together. I have this very large rooster that I had made for me
several years ago when I was living in California and I asked the owner if he was able to paint it
a yellow and so he made this special yellow color that I requested and I just love this rooster
and it goes perfect inside my French country theme kitchen. Now to add a little bit of light
I have this lantern I purchased this off a Facebook marketplace but I believe
that these this could have been at Hobby Lobby as well I'm not I'm not sure but I think
I think so but it has the perfect chippiness and color to it. So down below I and I know this will
change but this is what I have on hand and these small little picks that were purchased from Hobby
Lobby I've had them for quite some time and I'm just going to place some greenery down at the
but because this is a taller lantern just look out for it there will be
some added greenery in here that will be much taller but I'm kind of blocked from my greenery
right now because we brought in a couple storages into the garage so we're mount boxes in there
right now so that's what I will be doing this weekend going through boxes and decorating for
Sunday's video in humid muggy North Carolina weather but I hope you all enjoyed this video
please make sure to come back on Sunday for more decorating
