Hello everyone and happy May! April showers bring May flowers, so let's hope our lives are flowery
and hopeful and joyful and good. I hope you are doing well. I am going to get into what we will
talk about in skating, but first I want to let you know that there are so many different ways
to learn and more ways to learn coming soon as well, but we have the membership, the Roll With
Me membership on thatnicolefiori.com, my website, or right here on YouTube. The memberships are the
same. They have the same content, however things are laid out better on my website than here on
YouTube. I only have so much room to organize things here on YouTube, but either way you are
getting the same content. So that membership is $14.99 a month. I highly, highly recommend it. It
has so many videos to learn from, hundreds, drills, skills, and choreography. Things are broken up in
that way. I also have the foundations course on my website. That is all of the foundational skills
you will need to become whatever kind of skater you want, whatever discipline, artistic, derby,
anything. And then I also have private lessons online and in person all through my website. You
So check it all out thatnicolefiori.com or like I said the membership is right here on YouTube.
So every month I give a few videos to choose from. This month we have a lot of videos to work on and
simply because we will be doing a new footwork sequence and within that footwork sequence we
have a handful of skills. So you can watch the specific skills videos to really, really nail
down your technique and then put it all together in the footwork sequence. But when I say we have
a few videos to choose from, there are hundreds of videos. So every month in this video that I
provide to you I talk about just a few and they are also in the written blog post if you want to
read all about them. But that is how I do it every month so that nobody is overwhelmed. So that if you
only have to zone in on a few videos, here they are. So we start with drills. Our drill is going
to be working on transferring weight. So we will be doing three different workouts and running
through them a few times and we will work on transferring weight from one foot to the other.
This helps in everything you will do on skates. You will learn very quickly that skating is mostly
about transferring weight from one foot to the other. Doing so many different skills you have to
understand where to put your weight. So this will tighten everything up and make it possible to
transfer your weight effortlessly every single time. Hopefully. Now skills. This footwork sequence
has a bunch of different skills in it. We have a few different options. No matter what option
you want to do, it will involve backward cross pulls. So I'd love for you to work on those.
Back crosses. That is another thing that I want you to work on in the skills videos. Back cross.
Then we have options here. I want you to work on your heel to heel transition.
I want you to work on your spread eagle and your Ina Bauer. So there are a lot of different skills
to play with. If you want to just briefly breeze through them, go ahead and go straight for the
footwork sequence. But like I said, if you want to spend some time working on each skill specifically,
go ahead and look each of those up in the skills videos. Now that footwork sequence,
I love footwork sequences and I know that a lot of you watching this also love footwork sequences.
Footwork sequences can start very rigid and just figure out the technique you need to use.
Then I want you to add speed to it. So I always start right here in my little room and then I
take it out to a larger studio or a skating rink or a park. And I do encourage you to work on all
different surfaces if you can. Different spaces, different surfaces, because it will make you a
well-rounded skater if you have a few different options. You can't always be super, super comfy
in, let's say, a skating rink or inside your house. Sure, you can, but you will become a
more well-rounded skater if you skate on a few different surfaces regularly. So like every week,
I try to skate in my house, I try to skate at least once at the skating rink, and I try to skate at
least once outside because it does keep me on my toes and it will keep you on your toes as well.
Now, I know that that's already a lot for this month, more than I usually give you, but you can
go through any videos. I myself keep forgetting, because I do this every month, I keep forgetting
that there's like a ton of pieces of choreography that you can learn from. Go through the choreography,
see what song, like, pulls you in that you want to skate to, and learn that choreography. We always
have a beginner-intermediate as well as an advanced, so I highly recommend, even if you are a
world-class skater, I highly recommend starting with the beginner-intermediate and then working
your way into the advanced, because it will become a full routine if you learn both. Oftentimes, they
go back-to-back in the song, so you'll have a bigger, longer routine if you learn both. But
like I said at the beginning, April showers bring May flowers, so this month, if you want to work on
a choreography piece, I do recommend Flowers by Miley Cyrus. In that routine, there are a few other
skills that, if you want to check them out, you absolutely can. We have skills videos on them,
but we do a heel-toe manual, and we do it on both sides. We also do a dribble,
so that's a fun one, and that is one of my summer essentials, so keep that in mind, because like I
said, there's a few new things coming soon that I'm very excited about, but I can't announce them
yet. Those are your little hints. So, please let me know if you have any questions at all. I am always
here to help. That is what I'm here for. So, please let me know if you have any questions.
Send me a message. Send me an email, and I really hope you check out all of the different options
to learn from, and I will see you soon. I hope you have a beautiful May. Bye.
