Epic scenes as Frank Lampard celebrates with Coventry fans beating West Brom 2-0

They've given them some breathing space. They've left West Bromwich Albion's chances hanging by a thread. And while they remain probably in 6th place, they look to be in a good place to finish in at least that position come the end of the season. Two goals, early in each half, it was in the first half and added the second. And then shortly after that, Albion's hopes were given another blow by the sending off of Callum Styles. I do have to temper the good news just slightly because Middlesbrough have scored in stoppage time against Plymouth Argyle. Middlesbrough 2, Plymouth 1. And that means that Gap will be back to 3 points between Coventry and Middlesbrough who come here, final game of the season. So there's still work to do, Stephen Goodridge. But they've done their work today, Coventry City. Well, they have. And bearing in mind the occasion and the importance of this game, I thought it was a brilliant performance. So we're no discernible nerds. And with a full house and the importance of the game, there could have been two early goals, one in each half was enough to win the game for Coventry. But beyond that, what impressed me most was the confidence in possession, the way they were on the front foot, the tempo that they played in and out of possession. When they took the ball, they were round West Brom, you know, and swarming them and making them make mistakes. It was really impressive. They've got to keep doing this to the end of the season and the playoffs will be theirs. Plymouth, by the way, did have Joe Edwards sent off just before that Middlesbrough winning goal. So he will presumably miss Monday's game against Coventry City. But the Sky Blues have done it here. They've beaten West Brom by two goals to nil. They're heading over to second square. They're in front of a record league attendance at the Coventry Building Society Arena. 0-800-75-65-200.
