Solo Boat Camping on an Uninhabitable Island - Slept in My Boat!

All right you guys welcome back to another adventure. Hey we are heading up to an island. I've got to go up this little creek real quick. It's been probably a couple years since I've been out to this island. I'm excited to see what it looks like. Last time I heard about it, it caught on fire. So hopefully it has restored itself and it doesn't just look like a big old charred up island. Wow that's a really pretty yellow bird. I love hearing all these different birds. They're so pretty. It's nice to have them back you know. Back into spring. Approaching summer. Getting all the colors back. All the birds back. It's good. You feel like new life. I rigged up this little Rapala. So we'll see if we can catch something on our way to the island. All right we're approaching the island. Well it's a little ways off but there it is. It does look a little burned. Oh no. I think where I normally land is all kind of overgrown. All right there we go. We are beached or rocked. We're like sitting on some rock and whatever this this stuff is. Some sort of weed or something. It's a perfect little spot for the boat. It's a little cozy in there. Nice and snug. I'm happy with it. I don't think it's gonna go anywhere. The only issue that I'm thinking is there's a lot of these trees that are kind of ugly looking from the burn and some of them have actually fallen. So I don't want any of those to fall. It doesn't look like there's anything that I need to worry about so that's good. Well let's go find out where we're gonna set up for tonight. I brought a hammock. We're gonna be doing hammock camping. And the last time I was here I did hammock camping. I did it up on these trees and they were they were solid. We'll go see what they look like. Okay here's the two trees that I've camped at before. It is a hike up here. We were way down there. Oh that's beautiful. But anyways way down there. It's a long ways to hike up. If anything I'll just bring the hammock up here and that'll be where I sleep. But I'll make camp down there like cooking and all that. I don't know though. These trees are burned and I'd hate for their roots to be a little bit messed up and not very strong. It doesn't seem like a very good idea so maybe I'm gonna look around the island a little bit more. I see some alive trees that way. We'll see what we've come up with I guess. Before I go uh doing any more exploring I'm gonna take this off. Get rid of the extra weight and I'm gonna kick the crocs into four-wheel drive. Going to four low. Well we got a couple options down there. I don't think those are very good options though. I haven't explored the whole island just yet but those first two trees are looking the best. I don't know it doesn't make me feel good about it. I might end up sleeping on the ground tonight. All right so it's currently 5 30. I've walked the island. I really didn't find any trees that I felt super comfortable to hang a hammock off of. The first two that I showed you they looked okay and I have actually hammock camped on them before. But being that they are charred up a little bit I just don't want to risk it you guys. And I would hate to tumble down that hill right there. So I think I'm going to be sleeping on the ground tonight but I do have somewhat of an idea. I was thinking what I could do is maybe pull the boat up here. Lay it right there. Maybe make a nice little bed inside of it. It's an idea at least. I do have a tarp that goes with the hammock so maybe I can kind of tarp myself so I'm a little bit protected. And that way maybe I'll keep the critters off of me. It's gonna be a first I guess but we're doing it. There we go. I don't know it'll be something. It'll be something tonight. I'll throw in my sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and pillow and for now makes for a nice little shelter I guess. Yeah not that bad. Might be kind of like sleeping on a water bed or something. I'll probably have to tighten it up before bed. Kind of cover it up but for right now I think this is great. I don't know about you guys but I actually find it more fun to have things go a little bit crazy and you got to come up with a new idea. Kind of think, process it, and work on the fly. And here we go. That's what we're gonna do. We're sleeping in the boat tonight. Not what I planned but I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. All right it's time for dinner. I'm hungry. We're gonna be doing hot honey garlic chicken. That's probably good. You hear the turkey out there? Then we got some soy sauce. Stir that around and get it all mixed in nice and happy. Oh that smells so good you guys. I am hungry. We're gonna plate that up real quick. I've got some noodles. Made these up at home. Well Shelby did. She made them up for me. We're just gonna plate it on top of some noodles. Oh that looks so good. Hot honey garlic chicken. Look at that. That looks tasty. Look at that. Hot honey garlic chicken. I'm really excited for this. I don't know if you can tell. Very simple to cook. Only a few ingredients. All right first bite. Oh yeah that's amazing. That is spicy too. Got a little spice to it. Trying to get some of those noodles too. I don't know about you but I really enjoy a well-cooked chicken thigh. They're tasty. All right I need to clean my pans. Very dirty. I'm just gonna rinse them off and then what I typically do is I just boil and boil everything. It's the quickest and easiest way to do it. It looks pretty clean already but I really want to make sure everything gets good and cleaned. That's what I love about the lake. You can just kind of manually scrub everything and come over here and boil it and you get it pretty clean. At least clean enough for camping. All right we got our sleeping pad. I'm just gonna throw it in there. It's not quite gonna fit so I think I'm just gonna have to lay in it and kind of sandwich it. We got our sleeping bag. I keep getting wet. My feet keep getting wet. There's the bed for the night. Doesn't look too bad. I hope it's comfortable. I just put my foot in the water. Bummer. I wanted dry socks. Good thing I brought extra socks. Now let's see if I can get in here. I'm getting my other foot wet. All right I'm in bed. Made it. We have a temperature of 45 degrees Fahrenheit inside right now. I can feel a little bit of a breeze coming through so I'm not like fully fully enclosed. This is gonna make for an interesting night's sleep. I already saw a mouse out there when I was cooking so who knows he might show up later on tonight. But I'm actually pretty comfortable in this despite being a little bit breezy. It feels nice like it's really good on my back. I think I might sleep pretty good tonight. We'll see as long as there's not too many little things that come come a bug in me. That can always mess up a night. All right well that's enough for me. I'm gonna hit the sack, get some rest, It's chilly. Oh boy. all right we're gonna go try our hand at fishing real quick before breakfast. I do have a cold coffee so that's good. We're gonna come back. I'm leaving all our stuff over there so hopefully we can catch a fish. Vanilla latte. Oh that tastes good. That is good. Now I know there's trout out here. There's bass, crappie, perch, kind of a mix of it all. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to target. I'm just trying to catch a fish. So whatever it is I'll be happy. I'll be really happy. The water's like glass. It doesn't even look like I'm moving but I am. That's crazy looking. We're gonna head over here. I'm not really sure where these fish would be right now. I feel like they could be coming up maybe up top. Maybe they're seeking warmer water. I don't know. So we're gonna go over here. Look at that you guys. That is a nice little breakfast sando. Way better than any McDonald's I'll tell you that. Greasy, cheesy, delicious. I've been trolling for a while and I was just getting hungry you guys. All right breakfast was delicious. It's time to head out and do some more fishing. I've got everything packed up now so we're saying goodbye to the island but it won't be the last time we're here. I love it. It's so much fun. All right I've switched over to trolling. This is the last resort here. I don't know if it's gonna happen. I'm a little bummed about that you guys. I've been out here for a while fishing trying everything that I know what to do and I just can't land a fish. It's probably that time of day again. It's the bomb fishing time which is always wrong. I caught a fish when I first took this boat out to kind of test it out and give it a a little go. It was a tiger trout. Never caught a tiger trout before. They're very rare so I was really excited about that. I'll actually put a picture. I'll show you guys the picture of it here. But yeah I caught that fish recently. Too bad me and Lily didn't catch anything. And then I went out and took this boat and tested it out and I caught a fish by myself. So feel a little bad. I'll get Lily out there though and and the rest of the family and we'll get some fish. At least I hope so. Well that is it for me. No fish but that's okay. I had a beautiful time camping on the island and it was just just a good thing you know. Felt really good. I have another video of me going to the island.
