This is the first day of riding in Iran! I'm leaving the port of Bandar Abbas and I'm riding north towards a small town called Rayen. The scenery was far more beautiful than I'd imagined and the people were so friendly everywhere. Sometimes they got a bit too happy to see me and were driving their cars so close to me to have a look at Basanti and me that it kind of freaked me out a bit!
Good morning Internet, it is 9.26 in the morning and welcome back to the channel
Today will be the first riding day in Iran
I am now here in Bandar Abbas and I'm going up a road which is not on the map
Here to a place which is also not on the map which is called Rayan which is 100 kilometers
away from Kerman so it will be somewhere around here. It's about 400 kilometers riding so I'm
already a little bit late but I was quite tired from the from the border crossing and the night
on the ferry but I should be able to make it in one day. One thing in Iran is also that I cannot
make hotel bookings up front anymore because like sites which I used before like booking.com
they don't have any hotels in Iran. I tried to call a hotel yesterday but they didn't pick up
either so from now on I'll just have to ride to a place and ask if they have a room so that's what
I'm gonna do. I believe there's three hotels in the place that I'm gonna go to so I should be
able to find a place to stay the night so now I'm just gonna pack my stuff and let's go
Holland, Holland. Holland? Yes
Holland or what's that?
Robben, Robben

About half way now, it's another 200 kilometers to go. I just stopped in the previous town for a sandwich kebab which was really nice
So far the ride is amazing, it is so green and the mountains are beautiful and I'm just really
enjoying it. Basanti and me are attracting quite a bit of attention and everybody is honking and
waving and smiling and recording me and yeah so that's quite funny to see. The traffic is quite
crazy though, I thought I was used by now to intense traffic but here in Iran they really
drive like maniacs. I don't know but switching lanes and everybody so yeah I really have to be
careful riding around here because yeah this is some intense riding especially in the cities
but anyway I'm going to continue now. I think the last bit of the journey might be even off-road
crossing a mountain range and it's actually really cold so for the first time in a really long time
I'm going to get my thicker jacket because I am freezing. All done, let's go. It was super cold
the last bit and I was a little bit worried that I wasn't going to make it before dark
but I just made it. I went to the first hotel that I saw and I have a massive room again
look how big it is. I have an entire living room and then a kitchen and then there's the bathroom
and then also quite a big bedroom but I didn't realize to be honest before I came to Iran
how cheap it is here. They've had some massive inflation and it is so incredibly cheap here
you have, I have bank notes this is a note of 1 million, 1 million riyals so this entire place
cost me 20 dollars per night so yeah it's really quite cheap and when I went to get some petrol
as well, one liter of petrol is less than 10 cents, 10 dollar cents so yeah it's maybe like
8 euro cents for a liter of petrol so yeah it's crazy, it's super super cheap and food as well
basically yeah almost everything is is really cheap so for me that's good because especially
now that I'm having more difficulties booking online so basically I have no idea where I'm
going to stay and after a full day of riding I'm just tired so that's why normally I would always
book some accommodation the night before but now I can't do that and after a full day of riding I
don't want to search and search and check five different places I just want to go to a place and
put my bag down and rest so it's good that I can just say yes to pretty much any place because it's
all just really cheap so that's good. Anyway it was a really long day of riding but it was
beautiful the scenery was just stunning stunning just and there was so much variety as well in the
scenery and I really enjoyed it and everywhere the people were smiling at me and waving at me
and yeah I really enjoyed today's ride, tomorrow I'll ride again and I will make a small round
around this village or town where I'm staying because there's a big citadel here so I'll check
that out tomorrow when there's daylight again and I'm rested so I hope you liked this video
