Once upon a time, in a cosy little pond, there lived a little duckling named Dottie.
Dottie was a bright yellow ball of fluff who loved to swim and play with her friends.
But one day, while chasing a butterfly, Dottie wandered away from her family and got lost in the tall grass.
The sun began to set and the pond looked far away.
Dottie felt nervous and alone.
She called out, Mommy, Daddy, where are you?
But there was no answer.
All Dottie could hear was the soft rustling of the leaves in the wind.
She looked around, but everything seemed so big and unfamiliar.
Just then, a friendly turtle named Freddy hopped by.
Hello, little duckling. Why are you so sad? he asked.
I can't find my way back home, Dottie sniffled.
Freddy smiled and said, Don't worry, I'll help you.
I know this pond like the back of my hand.
So off they hopped together.
As they journeyed, Freddy showed Dottie all the wonderful sights of the forest.
Sparkling dew drops on the flowers, butterflies fluttering in the air,
and even a family of rabbits taking a nap by the stream.
As they walked, Freddy told Dottie stories of the animals that lived in the forest
and how they all helped each other when they needed it.
Dottie felt a little braver with every step.
Finally, after a long walk, Dottie heard a familiar sound, the quacking of her family.
She rushed toward the sound and found her mommy and daddy waiting by the pond,
looking worried but so happy to see her.
Oh, Dottie, her mommy said, giving her a big hug.
We've been looking everywhere for you.
Dottie smiled up at Freddy.
Thank you, Freddy. You helped me find my way home, Freddy replied.
No problem, little duckling. That's what friends are for.
From that day on, Dottie knew that no matter how lost she felt,
she had the courage to find her way and the best friends to help her along the way.
