So first to skate in the women's free here at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships for 2025.
Flying in 21st place, the 19-year-old representing Australia, Maria Cherashova.
Made heavy weather of that. That was a triple flip. Just dropped the right arm a little bit there.
Just a little slow with the free leg coming out of that triple loop.
Weight completely outside the circle on the second attempt of the triple loop. That should
have been in combination, Maria. Dig deep here. Triple sail coming up. Well done. Double axle on the end.
You could see the lean on that. No way she was going to land that one on a triple toe.
Well, that is such a shame. There you can see she's just reflecting
what went on in that four minutes. Representing Australia, Maria Cherashova.
You got a feel for it. There's Mr. Kaptich. Still smiling. He's been fun. Yeah, I think,
to be honest, that fall on the loop at her third jump pass, I think may have hurt her.
She didn't get that right hip underneath her at all and weight was completely outside the circle.
It's a horrible feeling when you go up and the right foot's not underneath you.
So there you can see she's slightly under rotated on that attempt at the flip. They've given her a
cue on that. Here's that loop. You can see that was short on rotation as well. It's so difficult
if the foot isn't... But you want to be inside that last quarter, to be honest, to get a good
running edge on the way out. The technical panel would tell you you've got to be absolutely on the
money. But in my book, if you're anywhere in that last quarter, to be honest, if you're a tiny little
bit short, you almost get a better running edge on the way out. Here's the double axel. You can
see even that shorter rotation. Euler in there. And the flip. And I can tell you the double axel
Euler flip is going to be looked at. I'm interested to see what the call is on that.
I think one thing she could work on is keeping the right arm up on pretty much everything.
Really help her at the end of the jump.
So she's got an under rotation on the triple loop and the triple toe, which is a fair call.
They're looking at that double axel now. Yeah, she gets an under rotation on the double axel.
A cue on the flip. And just looking at the last spin as well now. A couple of deductions for the
falls. So it's going to be a tough one for her. Her season's best score, her personal best score,
is 78.35. In fact, that is the score that she got in the Four Continents Championships last
year, where she finished in 21st place. So a couple of cues, a couple of falls,
a couple of under rotations. It's going to be tough. Rotation is absolutely key.
So 52.32 is her score. And that's tough when you've been close to 80 points. And
when she looks back, she'll realize why.
