It's me, Little Lamb. Tonight, I have a very special story to share with you.
It's about love, courage, and the most wonderful gift anyone has ever given.
It's the true story of Easter. Are you ready? Let's begin.
One day, Jesus rode into the city of Jerusalem on a little donkey. Crowds gathered,
They were so happy to see him.
Later that week, Jesus had a special dinner with his closest friends.
He broke bread and shared a cup, saying,
This is my body, and this is my blood, given for you.
Jesus knew something very hard was about to happen,
but he wanted his friends to know how much he loved them.
Then, Jesus gave them a promise. He said,
I will go away for a little while, but don't be afraid. I will come back to life again.
His friends didn't fully understand, but Jesus was sharing a hope that would soon change the world.
That night, Jesus went to a quiet garden to pray. He felt sad and afraid.
He asked God for strength because he knew what was coming.
Jesus chose to obey, even though it would be hard, because he loves us so much.
While Jesus prayed, a group of soldiers came to the garden.
They were led by a man named Judas, one of Jesus' own followers.
Judas had chosen to betray Jesus and helped the leaders who were angry with him.
They didn't believe Jesus was the Son of God, and they were afraid of the love and truth he taught.
So, they had him arrested, even though Jesus had done nothing wrong.
But Jesus didn't run away. He knew this was part of God's plan to save the world.
Jesus was taken to a place called Calvary, where he was put on a cross.
Even though he had the power to stop everything, Jesus chose to stay, because he was rescuing us.
He took the punishment for all the wrong things people had done and would ever do.
Jesus forgave the people who hurt him. He looked at the sky and said,
Father, I place my life in your hands.
Then Jesus took his last breath, and everything grew quiet.
But this was not the end. Jesus had made a promise.
I will rise again. And even in the stillness, God's plan of love wasn't over.
Jesus' friends were very sad. They gently placed his body in a tomb,
and a big stone was rolled in front.
But early on Sunday morning, something amazing happened.
An angel came and rolled the stone away. The tomb was empty. Jesus wasn't there.
He had come back to life, just like he promised.
The angel told them, Jesus is alive. Joy filled their hearts.
Jesus had won. His love was stronger than death.
And because of that, we never have to be afraid.
Jesus appeared to his friends to show them he was truly alive.
He gave them hope and peace. And then one day he returned to heaven,
where he watches over us still.
And that's the Easter story, my dear friend.
Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life to save us.
And when everything seemed sad and still, he came back, just like he promised.
Jesus is alive, and he's always with us. That means we're never alone.
Before we go to sleep, let's say our prayers.
Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me so much. Thank you for being brave and kind.
I'm so glad you are alive and with me always.
Help me sleep in your peace tonight. Amen.
