Clearly we need to start madueke and mudryk, two fast and skillfull players that actually made some attacking threats. This is also the idea and focus of pochetino so do you think he should take on chelsea next season?
Frank, obviously a tough night, but what would you take from the second half performance that you saw tonight?
Take from the first half, firstly, because it was poor.
I talked to Chelsea TV, I talked to Chelsea fans, and it's not good enough for us, the performance.
Passive off the ball was too nice on the ball, sideways, back on ourselves,
things that we spoke about not to do before the game we didn't do.
And when you do that, you end up with that first half.
So the second half reaction was better, but the game's done then, and we want to come in and compete better than that.
What are you able to put that down to, Frank, the first half that you mentioned?
Maybe it's a culmination of things, because those things have to be turned quickly,
and if you get into that form of where you're...
I mean, people talk about low confidence, people talk about underperforming,
people can make excuses, maybe.
I can't make excuses for that, but I understand it takes a lot of work to turn that.
I was strong with the players at half-time, the things that we had to do better.
Some things we took on board, and we looked like a bit of a different team.
The problems Arsenal were giving us at the time were turning us around and playing balls behind us,
and we were not doing it to them.
And we spoke about it, and we didn't do it.
So it's a night to be very honest and real about that.
I'll take my responsibility, because I have to, in my job as always.
I've been back a short time now, and I'm starting to understand some of the reasons really clear
as to where we need to get to.
And these games are coming ahead now.
People on the outside will say there's not much on them.
There's a lot on them for me, for the players, because I have a lot of honour in doing this,
and I want to do it as well as I can.
And if I can make some progress in not producing that first half again,
then that will be progress.
But it's actions, actually.
I can talk about it a lot.
It's what actions of what happens behind the scenes.
Have you seen enough within the group to give you hope that things can be turned around in the short term?
Yeah, listen.
When I talk about this performance, and maybe a lot of things before I came here recently
that have gone on, they're not relevant, because I know there's talent,
and I know there's quality in there.
And there are some things that maybe need to be sorted out to move the squad forward
and all those things.
That's clear.
That's strategy.
It's not for me to talk about now.
But I do know that if you want to play for this club, the standards of everything you do every day
and the desire to push each other and fight your way to get in the team,
Noni was a good example today.
Noni's trained really well for two weeks.
Noni plays, and Noni played well.
And he showed confidence, and he was a bit fearless, and he was getting at people.
We have to have that all over the pitch.
And I know that I've coached a fair amount of the squad before.
I know their intentions are good, but that has to be action.
It has to be direction.
And in my time here, I'll keep pushing on that, because we need to see better than that first half.
We are better than that first half.
There's no excuse for that.
So I came into it.
I knew that there would be an issue, because I watched performances,
and I saw it was a tough year.
But for me, to get my hands on it, and there's been game, game, game,
and we can't train much, and we're doing meetings.
It needs work on the training ground.
It needs work, and repetition, and a drive.
And today was a sign of it for me.
You mentioned that you're speaking to the fans when you're speaking to Chelsea TV.
They stuck with you again tonight, didn't they?
Yeah, and they could do whatever they want tonight in terms of disappointment,
because I was disappointed with it.
And the first half wasn't enough for us.
In fact, we've had a lot of success for years, and the fans have enjoyed that.
And they will come back to this club for sure.
I appreciate it, we appreciate their support,
but we have to show it as well on the pitch.
We've won a lot more than that tonight, so that's it.
