為什麼這部影片是在星期五而不是星期三?
是因為我必須等到星期四的英國時間
才能釋出這部影片
因為這部影片是關於
Harman Photos的新顏色電影
Phoenix 200
太瘋狂了
所以我們來談談這部電影
這部電影是從零開始製作的
在英國
由Harman Technology製作
它是由Harman Photo的品牌
而不是Ilford製作
Harman really wants people to not confuse
Harman Photo and Ilford Photo
Ilford Photo is over here
doing their black and white thing
You know, they make black and white film
and all that stuff
and Harman Photo is over here
making Phoenix 200
Now they are both
both brands are under the
Harman Technology Limited umbrella
which is owned by Pemberstone Ventures
If you want to read more about that
you can head over to my full review
full article, full news article
on 35mmc.com
I put in all the links and all the details
so you can go and read that there
and this video will just be
more like behind the scenes of shooting
some B-roll
me talking a little bit about the film
and my impressions
So this is an ISO 200 color film
got 36 exposures
and we're going to shoot it today
in the Canon Rebel K2
OK, so this is a fresh film
it expires July of 2025
So this is an experimental film
Harman Photo makes that very clear
It's an experimental film
It's made from scratch
So there is limited anti-halation properties
in the base layer
There are no masking dyes
There's no orange mask
So this film is a little bit different
than the other color films available
It is not supposed to be like color film
that we have known in the past
It is a brand new color film
and it is pretty wild
I will just spoiler alert
I love this film
but it does have its downsides
So let's talk about those
The elephant in the room
Latitude, exposure latitude
This film has none
All right, so this shot
will actually be a really good test
for the film
because it'll show its latitude
because I mean the sky is bright
the trees are dark
Harman Photo basically recommends
shooting this film in even lighting
and that is because this film
has no exposure latitude
If you shoot this film in mixed lighting
like you have really bright highlights
and really dark shadows
it's really going to struggle
Now this is only
This was only a problem for me
when my subject was in the shadow
What I found was that in certain scenes
especially the sunset scenes at the beach
when I was shooting directly into the sunset
or where it was
the sky was the sunset
and then the scene of the beach
was basically all in shade
The photos that came out
you can't see anything
except for the light
So it's more like a silhouette photo
which is actually kind of cool
if I had done a different composition
where the silhouette was more the subject
and more in the center of the frame
Next time I will definitely
avoid these kinds of scenes
Now my favorite photos were shot
where my subject was in full sun
and it was being well lit
and I didn't really care
what was in the shadows
because those kind of fell off
Anyways
a self-portrait of myself here
And we'll see how it turns out
I'm not actually sure if the camera
focuses again once you've
pressed the self-timer
But I guess we'll see
because I was using F1.8
I've also only really tested this now
in sort of nature settings
So what I'm going to do now
is go into the city
and take some building shots
As you can hear it's getting noisier
So you know where
We're near the traffic now
So yeah I'm going to take
some building shots
some cityscapes
and then test the flash
and hopefully test it at night
There's a lot of things to test
when you test a film
to see how it responds
to certain scenarios
And then also you have to watch out
because there's so many different factors
like the camera can affect it
the lens can affect it
your scanner, the film lab
chemistry, etc.
So there's a lot of different factors
But at least we'll try and see
so you can see what it looks like
I love the colors on this film
I think they are awesome
They're so dramatic
They're so rich and saturated
I really, really enjoy that
Now that was more for subjects
that were either A, in even lighting
or in full sun
There were some scenes
where it was like mostly shade
that I thought there was some majority
of like cooler tones
And I just thought it was a bit gross
Not for me
I'll show you what I mean
And the color of this film
is so interesting
So how I kind of
how I would describe it
is that you have this color
You have the color spectrum
I see the warm colors
and the cooler colors like
And I think it kind of
leans into itself a little bit
So the warm colors are really warm
And the cool colors are really cool
Like take the greens in the grass
for example
In these photos where I shot
with like the fall leaves
These greens are so cold
But the reds are really nice
and rich and warm
And I love that color contrast
I think it's really nice
And I'm a fan
Except for maybe some scenes
where the cooler colors
are a little bit too cold
It's a little bit too extreme for me
Like this tree
It's a little bit too blue
But it's definitely not like Kodak films
Where overall there's kind of like
a warmer sense to all of the colors
including the blues and the greens
So it's a very interesting color mix
And it is very different
Which I think is great
I mean I wouldn't want a new color film
That's just the same as other color films
It doesn't
Because then you don't get any
Like differentiation or variety
And in your options
Now I am interested to see
People's reactions to this film
Because I think it will be
A little polarizing
Because it has very little
Anti-halation properties
There's a really strong halation
When you point it in the direction
Of a strong light source
Or basically the sun
I didn't shoot anything in the studio
Or with artificial lights
With this roll
So I am very interested to see
Some other people
Who might have tested it
Who have
But yeah it's very strong
So if you don't like halation
This film you don't
You can still shoot this film
But just point your camera
Away from the strong light source
And you'll be fine
There's no halation
But yeah if you point it
Like towards the sun
You will get this very strong glow
As you can see in some of these images
Okay so this one
With the forest scene here
I actually really love the halation here
And I think it creates such
Like a drama to the image
That I love
But this one here at the sunset
I think it's interesting
But it's kind of bleh
And the rest of the scene
Is a little bit meh
Because my subject
Which is basically the railing
And the path
And the Berry Island structure there
That's really my subject
And it's not well lit
So it doesn't really pop out
What you first see is the halation
And the sunset glow
So I think that's a little bit
It doesn't work so well in that photo
So it depends on what you shoot
It really depends on what you shoot
This film really depends on how you meter
And what you choose to shoot
For a 200 ISO film
This is pretty grainy
Now you can't really
I mean and that's saying
I'm saying that in comparison to other
200 speed films that I've shot
Which isn't that fair
Because this film is not like any other film
So it's really hard to compare
And to say that 200 speed films
Shouldn't be that grainy
That's comparing it to
What you have already here
But this is a very new film
A very different film
A very experimental film
So you can't really compare
But yes it is hella grainy
What else to say about this film
So we talked about
So we talked about the latitude
We talked about the colours
We talked about the grain
We talked about the halation
I think in general that's it
Let me know what you think about this film
In the comments below
However people think about this film
Whether you love it or you hate it
Or you're just kind of like
In the middle about it
I think it's amazing that
Harman photo and Harman technology
Have created a brand new colour film
From scratch
They've invested in that R&D
We are going to you know
Have hopefully more iterations of Phoenix
As Harman photo
Or Harman technology
Refines their colour film manufacturing process
Alright so if you want to read

I will see you in the next video
