Greetings, players.
It's December 95th.
I haven't seen the sun in about three years.
So, join me today, won't you?
As I endeavor to pry my ass off of the couch
and actually go out into the world and do something worthwhile.
Maybe not useful, but worthwhile.
Alright, I just looked back behind me, and it looks super cool.
I am meeting my friend, McKenna,
who I've shot with for years,
and I'm going to take a quick couple of portraits of her.
You know, this time of year just really does not get very bright out.
We're wheel-driving or just bumping up this little trail.
Well, there's not a good turnaround spot,
so we are backing up a little bit.
It's kind of a cool frame like this, honestly.
So, I don't really know what I'm going to do yet.
The thing that I do know is that
in a landscape that is, like, kind of so colorless right now,
it's just mostly white, shades of white,
that I like the color of this truck and these rounds and chainsaw.
And so if I can take a portrait of McKenna with those colors,
I think it'll stand out really well.
The thing I'm going to deal with, though,
is how kind of messy everything looks.
There's a lot of different textures and shapes and all of that,
so it's, as always, a bit of a puzzle.
All right, frame a portrait of me with this camera.
Oh, my goodness, this is crazy.
Scale of 1 to 10, how difficult is it?
I'm going to put it at, like, an 11, honestly.
I'm, like, moving one way and it's going the other way.
That's super cool.
But, yeah, I keep coming out and, like,
you come out here, right, and the only bit of color is the truck and the wood
and, like, the chainsaw and stuff.
So I thought maybe I could figure out a portrait to take
of, like, you sitting with the wood.
I don't really know yet.
Yeah, I love it. I love the idea.
And then as I realized that, this is...
Yeah, this is black-and-white film,
so I'm probably going to have to do it.
OK, let's figure this out.
Out of the truck?
Yeah.
Like, up on the side?
Yeah.
What if you sat down in the bed, like,
yeah, with the feet sticking straight out?
Or, like, here?
Yeah, that's actually pretty cool.
Come on.
Jump up.
Too high.
Oh, yeah, look at that.
Dang.
Sorry, Dotty.
Santa bring anything for Penny?
Yeah, she got a Frisbee
for, like, the sixth year in a row.
Wow.
Original?
Uh-huh.
I don't even know what I'm doing.
Yeah, I know.
I got you.
It's, like, middle of...
I mean, did we put, like, an axe in it?
Ready?
I like it, I like it.
I guess I'm really just trying to make, like,
a picture, you know?
Yeah, yeah, I totally get it.
You might just move your feet and all.
Where'd you get them?
Up that way.
Wow.
So we've got the TLR that is unproven,
original cue,
the hoopty,
the camera that will be working,
maybe besides this one when everything else fails,
and the AE-1 program.
Did you go up in the mountains?
No.
Oh, I think that's gonna be cool.
So this doesn't have a meter,
so I'm gonna meter with this guy
and put it on here.
That'll be, like, the exact space.
That's perfect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And three, two...
Boom.
Solid.
That's sweet.
You're amazing, man.
Three, two...
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, matey.
Oh, yeah.
Who knows?
Damn, it's like...
What am I doing?
Oh, that's it.
It has to go back in the little...
Oh.
All right.
So maybe I'll just shoot a few frames from this roll
and then call it good.
Okay, so I'm gonna meter off you
based off ISO 400,
the 320th of a second in F4.
You get that?
Maybe.
Who knows?
It's possible.
Who freaking knows?
So let me focus.
Oh, my God.
And again, I'll give you the countdown when you're ready,
but that's, like, the space.
All right, do a quick reset
and then come back to that.
Perfect.
Three, two...
Boom.
Yeah?
I think so, yeah.
Oh, my God, dude.
It's like...
All right, and...
Wait, no.
False alarm.
Gosh, dang it.
All right, three, two...
And cue maybe the knee back up again.
I just thought, okay, if this thing,
if this camera is flat,
then I should get a couple on.
That's pretty dang cool.
Pro status.
Pro status?
I'll give you a countdown again.
Like, serious again?
I think so, yeah.
I don't feel very confident in myself with this camera,
so I'm like,
I definitely want to make sure that,
you know, I have it.
And I found, like,
in times in the past,
I've kind of shot some things too fast,
and I'll look back,
and I have, like, a bazillion photos,
and I'm like, dang it,
I was so close to, like, you know.
Yeah.
All right, let's see.
Okay, there we go.
Three, two...
I didn't wind it.
Dude.
Three, two...
Oh, we can't put this that close.
Three, two...
Do another one.
Okay.
Maybe.
I think we got it.
Yeah.
Do you need any photos?
No, no, no, no.
I love the aesthetic.
That's it.
Did we get one?
I think so, yeah.
Maybe.
Yeah, maybe.
Yeah.
Huge maybes over here.
Maybe just one.
Just standing right up against the truck?
Yeah.
Let me move this camera.
Yeah, yeah.
This is more like a fridge photo.
Yeah, that's cool.
All right.
Three, two...
And then last one,
I'll do the same thing.
Yeah, yeah.
F4 and 122.
All right.
Three, two...
And then one with the digital.
Yeah, yeah.
If that's okay.
Yeah.
I think we got it.
We got it.
Good to see you, friend.
Oh, was that like a handshake?
No, no, we got it.
Did you try that again?
What?
Do you want to do like a...
We can.
Oh, yeah.
Boom!
Perfect.
You guys want to go home?
Let's go.
Come on.
Go.
Good job.
Jump up, Penny.
Jump up.
Good job.
Do you see that?
That is an old quesadilla
that's been languishing in the back of the truck
that I just discovered.
I don't have the right tool for the job.
Oh, it's so gross.
Penny move.
They're in the wrong seats.
Penny move.
Dot, come here.
Penny move.
Go.
Dot.
Good job.
There we go.
All right.
Well, thanks for watching.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts
about how you liked this video.
I had a good time doing it
and I feel like this is more my speed.
You know, I'm doing stuff like this
kind of all the time
and I always have a camera with me
so it just kind of made sense to, you know,
bring you guys along
and just go bump around a dirt road
and see what happens.
But, yeah, let me know.
Thanks for watching
and, as always, see you next time.
Thank you.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, maybe.
Oh, yeah. Who knows?
