Well, Fraggle Rock has been captivating
generations of audiences for over 40
years. And this week, the furry musical
friends are taking to the stage in
Wilmington. Our Alicia Viterelli has a
first look at Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock,
Back to the Rock Live. The first ever
live touring show based on the beloved
franchise, and it's also the brainchild
of a Burlington County native.
It's 20 songs. It's jam-packed with, you
know, funny moments and adventure and
action. John Tartaglia is a Fraggle Rock
super fan. Strawberries. They're so soft
and they're so sweet. And the career
puppeteer is also the writer and
director of Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock,
Back to the Rock live. If you know the
series, it's like, oh, it's a brand new
episode adventure that we're going on in
person. And if you don't know the
series, it's kind of a wonderful
introduction to the worlds of Frag Rock.
The acclaimed actor, director, writer,
and puppet guru grew up in Maple Shade,
and he grew up on Fraggle Rock. It's
very surreal to like get to pass this
thing on that like, you know, inform so
much of my childhood. The Tony nominated
Tartaglia is famous for his roles in
Avenue Q and Shrek the Musical on
Broadway. And he recently won an Emmy
for the Apple TV Plus series that this
Fraggle Rock stage show is based on. And
the one thing that has never been done
is a live show version of the Fraggles.
And I come from theater and and I'm the
biggest Fraggle Rock fan in the world.
And I was like, wait, like, how has this
never been done before?

So, he took the puppets on tour. This is
your whole heart. This is your passion
project. Yeah. Yeah. I keep saying this
is what like seven-year-old me would
have wanted to go see. So, you know,
when we were creating the live show, I
kept thinking I was like, "Okay, if I
was seven years old again and sitting in
the theater and I got a chance to see
the Fraggles, what would I want to see?"
And that's that's really the heart of
it.
Fraggle Rock, Back to the Rock Alive, is
on stage for one performance only at the
Playhouse on Rodney Square this Sunday,
April 27th. Alicia Vitarelli, Channel 6
