Hey guys, hope you're all doing really well
Back when I was in Japan
I shot a series of portrait images in Tokyo
with my friend Gio
If you've seen my review of the Hasselblad X2D
that I did a few months back
you would have seen a few of these photos
But since I filmed the entire behind the scenes of this photoshoot
I thought why not share the entire thing with you guys
So just a few tech specs about the shoot
The camera that I was using was the 100MP Hasselblad X2D
with the latest version of firmware
which now adds the face detect autofocus
and the lens that I was using was the 90mm f2.5
I shot all the photos wide open at f2.5
to give you guys an idea of the performance and sharpness of the lens
and also the background separation that you can get
because of that fast maximum aperture
and obviously the medium format sensor
So without further ado, let's jump into the video
I hope you guys enjoy this behind the scenes photoshoot
Let's do a couple of photos here
I love it, so good
And you can just like, just like pop all your weight on one leg
Yeah, yeah, that's cool
And maybe put like hand in the jacket pocket or pants pocket something
Yeah, that's cool, love that, love that, yeah
Yeah, just looking, yeah, just looking here, that's good
Actually where you are is quite good
I might just get more of a
I wanna get that
A bit too far back
Yeah, that's cool
Yeah, that's nice
Tell you what, I'll go on this side
So it's better for you
And then I'm gonna come this way a little
Yeah, that's really nice
So the face tracking does quite a good job
Following Jio's face sort of around the frame
You can see that
Works really well
I'll get one little, a little wider
But where you are is perfect
Yeah, love the backdrop
Do you wanna see if you can
Yeah, I was just thinking maybe a little like
Yeah, yeah, like a little
Yeah, that's cool, love that
Maybe around here
Yeah, that's cool
Just sort of like look up towards those windows, yeah
I love that
Yeah, keep holding that, that's great
I actually was kind of looking for this the other day
And I couldn't find it
Very cool
I might just get you standing like here
Do a really quick sitting one
And then we'll just
Yeah, super cool
You can even lean in like onto your knees a little
Like almost like that
Yeah, yeah, that's cool
Just whatever feels natural
Do you wanna like turn away from me again
And just sort of looking over your shoulder
Yeah, even like a little more
Like you can even turn all like
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love that
Oh, that's awesome, yeah
And then just sort of bring your shoulder into your chin a little more
Yeah, love that, that's great
Very cool
So overall, I really enjoyed using the camera and lens
And I think the photos came out really nice
This is not really the fault of the camera
But I think the photos would have come out a lot nicer
If we had a little bit more dynamic lighting going on
It was a very overcast day in Tokyo
And one of the more special things about visiting Japan at this time of year
Is that beautiful light that you get for pretty much the entire day
Now, when it came down to editing these photos
I found that there was a lot of flexibility
As well as a lot of detail and ability to crop in on the images
I actually used Lightroom to edit these photos
And I used the camera standard profile as a base
Which is kind of as close as you can get to the HNCS profile
On the Hasselblad camera within Lightroom
Hasselblad also has their own app called Focus
Which is a fully featured editing software
And I had a play with the software
I do really like it
It does allow for a ton of customization
Being able to push the tones and colors in any way that you'd like
But because it is a new software
There is a learning curve associated with it
And I just chose to stick to Lightroom because it's what I know
So recapping my time with the Hasselblad X2D
I think that my favorite thing about this camera
Is the design, the grip, the handling
And the interface overall, menu systems, things like that
I also loved the internal SSD for storing images
It just feels like a really premium system
That's just really well thought out
While it might not be the perfect camera
For very fast pace out in the field shooting
If you're a studio photographer
I think this camera would be really well suited for somebody like that
And somebody who has a little bit more of a liberal budget
To invest into a camera system
Because this camera system is quite expensive
And because of that large resolution
As well as the 1TB SSD that's built into the camera
I feel like this could really be a future proof camera
That could be an investment for a professional photographer
For many, many years to come
So I really hope you guys enjoyed that behind the scenes video
If you do have any questions for me
Please leave them down in the comment section below
I also want to mention that
All of the photos were edited using my Lightroom preset pack
And that is also down in the description
So thanks once again for joining me guys
And I'll see you all in the next video
