Hello and welcome to Lighting Mastery I'm Brady Bisset and I will be your host for the course I'm a DP and I'm actually recently based out of Utah now And there's a chance that you may recognize me actually from my YouTube channel, Brady Bisset Where I teach an abundance of cinematography and lighting tips as well Now with not only just a huge passion for cinematography But also a huge passion for teaching my learnings and experiences in cinematography To DPs and creators and filmmakers like yourself I felt that it was only due time to create a proper resource With an abundance of information on lighting For not only just covering the basics But also really getting you to a point where you can master everything And get into a film set and be fully acquainted and know exactly what you want Now you may be asking is this course for me Well the way that I've designed this course is that It's tailored for every single skill set along the way So whether you've never touched a stand in your life And you have no idea what you're doing Or you've been doing this for years And you're just trying to polish off your skill set By the end of this course Regardless of your skill set You'll be ready to take the reins and tackle any lighting setup Whether you're on a narrative set, documentary, commercial, interview Whatever it is by the end of this course You will be a lighting bro Now let's go ahead and talk about what you're going to expect Going through this course structure So the way that I've built this curriculum Is going to be broken down into chapters Now chapter one is here to just get you acquainted And get you started with everything You're going to dive in as if you are a beginner You're going to be learning things like Dictionary terms, grip equipment You know how to work with stands and such And also learning stuff like set etiquette How you're going to behave on a film set So chapter one is just going to really ease you Into everything nice and slow And get you ready to dive into the second chapter Chapter two, we're really setting up the foundation Of everything that you need to know As far as methods of lighting and lighting techniques We're going to be learning things like Lighting diffusion, quality of light, color temperature Really just a variety of different techniques And all of these can be applicable to Not only just huge budgets That may be totally out of reach But really just one man band projects as well So whatever your budget is A lot of these techniques are going to be Fantastic building blocks to work on And build your knowledge from there Now by the time you've reached chapter three Well, you've learned terms, you've learned techniques All those building blocks are there for you So now that's when we really start to Spice things up in your cinematography So in chapter three, we're going to be learning A variety of different methods Of shaping and controlling your light For a variety of different environments Lighting and cinematography is not always about Pumping in as much light as you can From every single direction No, lighting in cinematography Is about shaping and refining your light And learning lighting direction And learning how to shape and modify your light To get the desired look that you want And that's stuff that we're going to be touching on And learning the concepts of doing so in chapter three Now it's time for chapter four So at this point, you've learned your techniques You've learned your terms You've spiced up your lighting And you're ready to go and dive into actual lighting setups So think of chapter four as if it is a field trip You've taken your learnings Now you're going to go see it applied in the field On specific lighting scenarios Say you've got exterior lighting Or outdoor lighting Or lighting for a moving subject Or a wide and a tight in multiple shots At this point, you're going to be seeing All of the techniques you've learned Applied in actual scenarios So after chapter four You're ready to take off your training wheels You're ready to go You know your terms You know how to spice up your light So think of chapter five Essentially as an internship We're going to be taking all the learnings From the entire course And seeing how it is applied on a real film set And additionally from these job shadows We're also going to be doing scene recreations And scene breakdowns From stuff that you have seen on the big screen So with each chapter You're going to progressively be learning A little bit more information Stacked on top of the information That you learned in the chapter prior And then by the end of this course You're going to be ready to tackle Any lighting setup that comes to you on any film set And make it look beautiful So I cannot wait to dive into this course alongside you And I cannot thank you enough For being a part of this with me So without further ado Let's go ahead and dive in to Lighting Mastery
