I tried my best to figure out a way to sum up how I feel about you. The closest I got was the word home. It shares our little moments like always kissing and goodbye on the forehead every morning even if I don't remember it. Binge watching movies all day just to critique them harshly after and talking to each other in our own little language that no one understands. I can always count on you for sharing your silly stories like the one about you winning class clown in fifth grade. Every time you make a joke that someone laughs at, you are the funny one in our relationship, but thank you for letting believe that I'm the funny one. I just love your lookout on life and how you don't take things too serious. I remember our first midnight swim down the river by mom's. A beautiful night in July, the stars shimmering, dazzling, iridescent. I think, in all honesty, I don't remember the stars that night because it was you. You were what illuminated that night, not the stars. I remember getting in the water shivering instantly, but not you. You were like a sexy seal or a mermaid, whichever one's more appealing. You had me starstruck that night and starstricken ever since. I don't think I could have been more awkward then, yet you made the night comfortable. Comfortable with your silly jokes, goofy faces, and calming eyes. After that swim, we stood on the bank watching the river flow, and for the crescendo, an awkward first kiss. But I love that kiss because if it were easy, it wouldn't have been real. I adore you for bringing me out of my shell over the past six years and loving me unconditionally when the times were tough. I will spend the rest of my life doing the same for you. You're my partner in my everything. I vow to stand by your side through the highs and the lows, just as I have before. I love you more than words can express, and when there are times that words are difficult to voice, know that you will always be able to feel my love. Our years together have been full of awkward kisses, and I pray that prevails until we're old and decrepit. I especially can't wait for our biggest and most awkward kiss yet in front of all our family and friends. It's not just that they bring out the best in each other, it's that they've created a partnership based on mutual respect, laughter, and deep abiding love.
