Windsor Castle Tour of Paintings | Italian Renaissance paintings from the Royal Collection
Join our curators as we discover some of the Royal Collection highlights of Italian Renaissance art in The State Apartments at Windsor Castle.
Displayed in The King's Dressing Room, explore significant works such as Annibale Carracci's The Agony in the Garden and Head of a Man in Profile and Giovanni Bellini's final portrait, Portrait of a Young Man. The King's Dressing Room was the little bedroom where Charles II slept, and his mistress was installed in the room below. By the 1830s, the room was transformed into a picture cabinet for small paintings as we see today.
The picture hang contains some of the finest examples of paintings from the Italian Renaissance in the Royal Collection from the early to high Renaissance and the dawn of the baroque style.
