Gillespie Pass | Tramping (Hiking) Video Series | New Zealand

The Gillespie Pass Circuit is one of Aotearoa’s most spectacular but equally hazardous alpine tramps. It has stunning native forest and alpine views of glacially carved landscapes, but also numerous creek and river crossings which have, at times, been fatal. There are some alternative transport methods to avoid crossing Otago's Makarora River, but trampers should be well pre-pared regardless with river-crossing skills and experience.

This video explores the circuit to help you prepare for these crossings and the alpine sections of the route so that you make it home safely.
