Hey everybody, I'm going to tell you the difference between a Camry LE and a Corolla LE to help with
your research. I'm Jeff Teague in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I'm going to be helping you decide
between a Camry LE and a Corolla LE because that's a common consideration. Which sedan is best for
you, for your family, for your work? We've got several important criterias that help distinguish
one from the other, differentiate one from one, and help you decide. So here's what we're going
to do. Let's lay it out for you. First of all, our first volunteer, we've got a 2022 Corolla LE
in super white, no option packages added. And this, my friends, is the 2022 Camry LE. It's in pre-dawn
gray. It also has no factory options added. So here's what we're going to do. Our video is going
to be separated into differences such as pricing, MPG, engine performance, exterior features and
styling, and interior features and styling. And then a final thought at the end. This is Corolla
here. Look how beautiful it is. And then look how gorgeous this is here, our Camry LE. Here's the
difference. Do you want the best-selling midsize sedan in the country for 19 straight years?
Or do you want the best-selling sedan of all time in the entire world? Both are dependable.
Both are reliable. Both are what we call in gambling a sure thing, as long as you like them
and they fit what you're doing it for, what you're using it about. Catch my drift? Let's start off by
talking about the elephant in the room, the big giant dollar sign, right? We've got a factory MSRP
of $20,600 for Corolla LE, $20,600. Then we've got $25,300 for Camry LE. So there's about $4,700
difference between the two, starting with factory MSRP. Then we get it from the factories
to the dealerships, and that adds $1,010. I think we can estimate at $1,000 for that. You'll see
that in the window stickers at the end of the video. I'm going to show a comparison,
window stickers, specs, and all that jazz. So just imagine $4,700. To me, I'm a Camry guy,
so I would absolutely justify paying some more money to get this one here. I want to know your
opinions and your thoughts in the comment section to see what kind of buyer you are.
MPG, Camry averages 28 in the city, 39 on the highway, and 32 combined.
We have a winner. This one here on the Corolla, it averages 30 in the city, 38 on the highway,
and 33 combined. Interesting. So let's summarize here. Corolla gets better in the city. Camry gets
better on the highway. Corolla gets better combined. But if you look at the MPGs together,
they're real close as far as the variations between city, highway, and combined. So does
this make an impact on your decision, especially with fuel prices the way they are? And here are
some things that are probably pretty obvious. Camry's a bigger car. It's a midsize sedan. This
is a small sedan or a compact sedan, if you will. So let's talk about engine performance because,
as you would imagine, Camry has a bigger engine. It has more power. We've got a prop rod there,
and this one also has a prop rod. A properatory rod. I don't even know if that's a word,
properatory. I made it up. I know that. It does have a hood blanket here, which does muffle the
sound a little bit coming from the engine of this 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine, 203 horsepower,
184 pound-feet of torque. This one's smooth, it's swift, it has really good pickup, and it's a
relatively quiet vehicle as far as road trips and things like that. It's matched with an eight-speed
automatic transmission. This one here has a smaller engine, 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine.
It's matched, plain, a 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 139 horsepower, 126
pound-feet of torque. Or you can also go up to the, instead of 1.8 liter, the 2.0 liter that
you'll see in the SE and the XSE, that gives you more power, 169 and 151, so a little bit more bump
up and pickup and things like that. This car, for what it is, is also relatively quiet. It's a very
smooth riding vehicle. I just evaluated a Corolla SE for a week, really smooth. I was very impressed
with this one, so you'll like the ride probably in both of them, but you do need to test them out
for yourself so you can be the best judge and get your best choice. Make the best purchase,
the best buy. Ladies and gentlemen, did you guys know that french fries were not first created
in France? They were cooked in Greece. In Greece! I'm loving it. Maybe the front ends of these two
beasts here can give you a little clarity, a little confidence in your decision here, right?
Two philosophies. This one has the honeycomb, call it three-dimensional sloping grille here.
This one has Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, okay? This one here has the horizontal slats. It has the
upper horizontal slat. This one has the upper honeycombs. This one has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5
plus. We've got bi-combination LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. We've got LED
lights with daytime running lights. The accent lights here are a little different from this one
because it's called a double J pattern. You can see sort of like a J little swoop here,
two of them, and then we've got little accents all around. You'll see black and white on this
particular one. If it's red, it'll be black and red. If it's yellow, it'll be black and yellow,
black and yellow, black and yellow. But anyway, this one here, we've got these accent marks here,
and this was recently refreshed the front end so that you have more modern appearance, modern
styling. Both of the hoods here slope nicely and simply. This one a little bit more muscular,
I think, as they flow down to a nice curve. I just want to know which one you like best.
Leave a comment. Let me know. One thing I forgot to tell you as you're checking out the profiles
here, do they have remote keyless entry? They each do not have stock from the factory, the push button
start, or the smart key. They just have the switchblade. Like when you were a kid, you got
switchblade combs, switchblade right here, Camry Corolla, Camry Corolla. That's what they look like.
Neither one of them has remote engine start. How to find out on your Toyota if you have it,
make sure it's locked already, then hit lock, lock, and then hold down lock. It'll start flashing.
Even if it's a hybrid, the lights will start flashing, the headlights, and then if it's a
gasoline engine, you'll hear it go, right? And then if it's a hybrid, you won't really hear that engine
start up because it goes on electric at first. It'll just go, and then within five or ten seconds,
you'll hear the engine, the horsies, start powering up, right? Did you get the horsey reference?
Does wheel size and appearance mean anything to you? Because if it does, this could be the deciding
factor here. Corolla has 16-inch wheels, you'll see wheel covers, and then this one has 17-inch
silver alloy wheels on the Camry. Are you a Corolla wheel person, or would you prefer Camry
wheels? Now check out the profiles. They're both sleek, aerodynamic, modern, stylish. This one is
probably a good idea that I chose the predawn gray, and it's probably a good idea that it was
bright because you can see those bold lines as they go through. Sometimes they're understated
and undervalued because you just don't see it. It's the little things that count, right?
Don't sweat the small stuff. Well, you don't want to sweat the exterior styling, you just know if it
looks good or not, right? But look at the, as George Takei would say, musculature, right? All along the
lines of Camry, and this one here also has lines, they're just a little bit more understated as we
go all the way around and all the way down. As we walk along the profile, you'll see that a shark fin
antenna, baby shark antenna, right? We do not have auto unlock, so when you put your hands on
the handle, you're gonna have to use the key to unlock it. See? That does not open it. What I do like,
no, I didn't wash this one before I filmed it. Oh, crap. Does not have blind spot monitor, does not
have rear cross traffic alert, it has a color keyed side mirror. What I do like is it has that big
window right here, that's a good cutout size, so that you can see around that A-pillar. So now we're
going over to Camry. It almost doesn't do it justice since this one's metallic, so it's really going
to pop in the sun. Don't hold that against super white, okay? That's a classic color. No accent right
there, a metallic color keyed. Does not have blind spot monitor, but you can add that as a factory
option package, okay? Gotta add that. It's not too much, I think it's five or six hundred dollars.
I would think that would be a solid upgrade if you want to do that.
Both vehicles have the fuel tanks on the driver's side. So which one
holds your eye more, or would you rather have this plain?
Take your pick. Step right up, take your pick. Let's look inside Camry so that we can see
the fabric seating. This one's beige, obviously. You can get it in gray, you can get it in black.
It's a two-tone, which I like because it breaks up the fact that it's beige.
I'm not normally a beige interior. I like the gray interiors on my cars,
but this one I would drive happily because it's broken up. I just love the fact that they've got
a different type of pattern and style in this one, okay? And then here's the back seat. Camry will
have a little bit more back seat space. They both have latches for child safety seats, so don't worry
about that. You can see it has a pocket right there. Not a pocket on the driver's side. And
then let's go in one more time so that we can look and see... I see a Corolla. Why are they
parked so close? What's wrong with Jeff today? What do you think of the dash, the consoles,
the clusters, the multimedia? Let's do the same thing here with the Corolla interior
so we can get our feel for what you think.
This one also is broken up, even though it's black interior on this particular one.
You can see my iPhone in the reflection. When will my reflection? Okay, so see this right here?
It's broken up with little squiggly patterns. Again, I'm known for that. I love anything that
breaks up an all-black interior. It just gives it more style, more character.
Here's where the USB is right down there. I just want you to know that.
We'll look at the back seat as soon as we see this, Jet.
Plane. All right, so let's go here. You can see the back seat. It also has
latches down there for the child safety suits.
And then we'll look. We're going to do this again. And the Corolla has less, we'll call it,
busyness. It's a simpler vehicle as far as it's just not as buttony, controlly, dialy
as our friend Camry. It's simplistic modern. What's your choice? Which one do you like better?
As far as the back ends, they both look, we'll call it, similar. Can we do that? Because they
both belong in the Toyota sedan family, right? They're one level away from each other as far
as sizing. This one here, the Corolla, has LED taillights, LED stoplights, chrome badging across
here. It also has just a regular metallic pipe, nothing fancy, nothing extra. It has the backup
camera here. And then we can pop it. Can we pop it this way? Let me think about that. Camry just
like Corolla, wraps around its LED combination taillights here. And then it's got the backup
camera, chrome badging, just in a different kind of style, different kind of way. It's got the
matte black bumper accent down here, just sort of like this one does as well. It has a metallic
pipe. As far as how you open up the trunk, well, you can pop it with the trunk release
buttons right here, like that. The Corolla, does it have a grippy? No. Does it have a key slot?
No. But the Camry does have a key slot. I'm a little key slot, short and stout.
Here's my handle. Here is my spout. Let's see if I can do this. And just look, this is probably
not the way that you're going to want to do things, because look how much I'm fidgeting,
and I don't even know where it is. Like, why would you want to do that? So just use the keyless remote.
Regarding cargo capacity, Camry definitely fits a Jeff. It has 15.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Rise, my Jeff, rise. Corolla also passes the vibe test. 13.1, so it has two cubic feet
less cargo space, but they both still fit a Jeff. Camry can knock down the seats from the back.
This is if you have something long that you want to use as a tool, like a cave jump, to open that up.
You can do that. It also has a really cool contraption. Genius engineers. Lift and hook,
bend and snap. And then we've got soundproofing material here. Got a temporary spare.
We've got hooks for groceries and things that you don't want to roll around.
So again, it has a little bit more room than Corolla. Now our friend Corolla, let's take a look.
I don't see those pins that you pull. Don't pull the grenade on this one. It's probably really a grenade.
All right, here we go. This one has a temporary spare. Did not like that sound, did you? And then
it's got a little bit of soundproofing, but it doesn't quite fit the wheel well as much as Camry
does. You see hooks? No, I don't think so on that one. So we're going to have to come around here
to push the pins, which is fine. It's just not quite as evolved as our friend Camry is.
So we'll keep going. We're working it. Pop that pin.
Here we go. And then this one's raised a little bit more, I think, than Camry is.
But they both still have a good amount of room. They're both wide.
They're both deep. They both have lips for if you're putting anything really big
and really long through there. All right. Corolla backseat is surprisingly comfortable and spacious
for a compact sedan. I'm 5'8", not afraid to admit it. Don't have very much headroom in the back here.
If I'm taller, like 6'3", or something, I might want to take a look if I'm going on a long road
trip. But this is with the seat more back. The seats are comfortable. This one's raised a little
bit more. This one's very comfortable. I have room to stretch out here because, well, I set it for
myself. So if somebody's 5'8 driving right there, you're good to go. All right. What do you think
about these seats? Let's go to Camry. We're going to do the same test here. And with the seats back,
good room. The seats are comfortable. They are firm, but they're supportive and they're soft.
This one here has a little bit bigger hump than the Corolla does as far as feet. So you'd have to
put your feet up a little bit. Here's my room. And then this one here, look at this. With the seat
position for me, tons of room. Tons of room. Does this give you an idea of what is better for you?
We're going to go inside the Corolla front area so you can see buttons and controls and dials.
This is the mirror adjustment, the locks. We've got room for not a tall drink holder, but we've
got one. Trunk and gasoline. This one has all weather mats added at the regional assembly port.
We've got brightness of the dash, automatic high beams, composite wheel here. Feels good. It's a
but this will be a little bit different because we've got the multi-information display over on
the side here and it shows us some good pieces of information that we might want to know
about our vehicle. Don't worry about the MPG because I'm just filming here. So those are
some things that you can adjust on this one. This does not have a power operated driver's seat,
but it does have a pump that can raise and lower. Your seat has a bar. This one does come with
electronic parking brake, brake hold, traction control on and off. All right, we've got a little
bit of storage room right there. Let's go into the center little area and then we can see we've got
USB. We've got the 12-volt circular. Remember we've got the USB right here.
Where is it? Right there. See, I can't even see it. There it is. Okay, we've got digital with single
zone climate just like that and this controls where the air comes out. This one right here
is an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen. It does Apple CarPlay, Android Auto,
SiriusXM. Quiet. You can adjust your sound this way. You'll see that similar system
in our friend Camry as well. It's a raised and you'll see that Camry also has gone to the raised
system. It does not come with an auto dimming rear view mirror.
This one has LED light upgrade at the regional assembly port. It does come with safety connect
with your free trial. It has a slider and then this will be lighted on Corolla. We'll see some
grab handles around. Let's go and for those people, look at the visibility as we go along.
Very good.
And then as we go along here, we'll see that the driver also has a grippy so now I can get out.
Time for Camry, same thing. Mirrors, windows. It's got like a slim fit right here. A little
bit more room I think. This is very, very small. Extra something or another. And then the trunk
release and the gasoline door release are up there as opposed to down there. This one does
have a standard factory power operated eight-way driver's seat. It's nice. I like that. And then
see here, similar controls. The information display is in a different spot. Let's go back
so you can see. I think it has a little bit more information than our friend.
Corolla, they both have good amounts of information. Camry just has more.
It'll have more bells and whistles as far as buttons, controls and dials. It does come with
dual zone climate controls. Storage room there.
Then we've got USB, 12-volt circular right there. Eco, normal and sport. Now see,
the things I don't see on this one, electronic parking brake and brake hold. Okay. Bigger
center box. More USB connectivity. Plane's coming, but we're going through.
Pushing through, ladies and gentlemen. Pushing through. This one here has the seven-inch
multimedia touchscreen. You can get it in seven or nine-inch in a Camry. You can upgrade it,
upgrade the radio system to nine, but this is seven. So same thing. We've got just similar
controls. Well, I keep on thinking about you, sister golden haystack. All right.
I know I butchered that first line just a little bit. It's not about you. I keep thinking about
you. Anyway, look, it's got the metallic accent there. Each Camry trim level is going to have
a different metallic or wood grain or faux wood or something like that for a display. So this one
has safety connect. It's got a sunglass holder up here and a similar system that Corolla has with
the slider and the lighted mirror, although it's on this side. And then we'll look, it's got a
grab handle on the driver's side, all the sides. But look at the visibility. That would be important.
So this is what's standard on Camry LE. We're comparing that, of course, to the Corolla LE.
How are you guys going to decide? I would love to see your comments. Okay, let's compare window
stickers here. The sun might make this a little bit blurrier, but I'm going to do my best.
Corolla LE white with black. This is made at the Mississippi plant. Has really strong safety
ratings. Only surpassed by, well, Camry. You'll see that in a minute. Here's the fuel mileage I was
telling you about. We're going to look at standard features and then we'll be seeing pricing as well.
So just stop the video if you want to look on your own. We're going relatively quick. You can always
stop and go back and look at standard stock features. So $20,625 and then that $1,010
price to get it from Mississippi to any dealer in the U.S.
And then they'll be equipped several different ways. Some options, no options, many options.
We've got Toyo Guard Platinum, all-weather floor mats, paint protection, LED interior lights,
camera action. This one will be $23,091. The Camry here made in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Pre-dawn gray. Look at these safety ratings, you guys. Super strong. Again, better on highway.
Not better on combined or city. Standard features. Again, stop the video when you want to stop the
video. See that Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 plus. And then we've got $25,395. Here we go.
And this one just has a couple options on it. It's got the mats. It's got the LED lights.
And then this one will be $26,893. Thanks for watching, everybody. Which one do you prefer,
the Camry or the Corolla? Which criteria was the tipping point? Which one made the final choice
for you? I appreciate you guys being here. If you're returning, thank you so much for following
