35-year-old rookie Tomoyuki Sugano.
Again, going to throw a lot of strikes if he's on his game.
Played over with the Murray Giants.
Steven Kwan, the hardest guys in the AL to strike out so far.
But you know what? Sugano just did it.
Another split as it went away from Kwan.
And it's a strikeout for Tomo to open up tonight.
And a little roll at his second. Another good splitter.
That is a different Tomoyuki Sugano than we've seen in any of the first three starts, folks.
Tanner making his fourth start, his third on the road.
He's one and one with a 440 ERA.
Swing and a miss! He gassed him with a high fastball.
Struck him out with a good fastball at the top of the zone.
Gunnar Henderson moved down to the two spot today.
Well, Brandon Hyde wanted to give Gunnar Henderson a little bit of a breather off the start.
Chance to watch a few pitches.
There is your first home run!
I guess that was all it took, huh?
You drop the guy one spot in the lineup, you're a genius.
Gunnar Henderson, welcome to 2025.
Gunnar Henderson, his first homer of 2025.
A frozen rope that lands just short of the birdbath.
And the Orioles take a 1-0 lead as Henderson hit a laser out of here against Biber.
Daniel Schneeman will lead it off for Cleveland here in the third. Baltimore leading 1-0.
And it's a high fly ball to center field. Back goes Mullins, still going back.
He's on the track, he's at the wall! He leaped and he could not get it!
Daniel Schneeman has tied the game with his second home run of the year.
It's a home run to right center by Daniel Schneeman
after a great effort by Cedric Mullins.
And we're tied at one.
Austin Hedges has seen eight pitches.
He has fouled off the last four.
In high, and deep to left. Kierstad back, he's out of room, it's out of here!
Austin Hedges with his second home run of the year.
The Guardians go back to back here in the third to take a 2-1 lead.
On a nine-pitch at bat, Austin Hedges would not be denied.
And Cleveland's got a 2-1 lead on back-to-back blasts for the first time this season.
Ramirez powers it to Henderson, knocks it down, recovers, and got it there in time.
What a recovery, and what a throw by Henderson.
He beat Ramirez by a half a step.
Henderson saves a base hit on a nice play.
A lead-off walk for Arias, second walk issued by Tanner Bybee.
So Gunnar, on a frozen rope, over the wall in left center field his first time up.
That ball sizzled again to left. Juan racing over there, he can't get to it.
It's in the corner. Arias will get a stop sign in third,
and Gunnar Henderson is wearing out the back side of the field.
Home run and a double.
Juan kind of dinked.
Arias didn't think he could catch that ball.
But Ramon doesn't get a great read, or he probably scores.
That's a gold-glove play that will not show up on any statistical metric.
Throw back to third, they got him!
They picked him off!
What a play, Austin Hedges came up and fired a strike to Arias.
Oh my, what a throw by Hedges,
and what a boneheading display of base running by Ramon Arias here in the third.
And he takes ball four, and the Orioles have two on with two out.
And O'Hearn will be the batter.
Ryan struck out looking his last time up.
First pitch swinging, high drive to center.
Ryan likes the look of it.
Tom Merritt for the second straight night.
A first pitch three run a home run, and the Orioles are back on top.
Are they going to look at it?
It appeared to me that it went over the wall.
I don't know if that hit the back wall.
Did that just hit the top of the fence and bounce back in play?
After review, the call on the field has confirmed it is a home run.
A home run for Ryan O'Hearn. He does it again.
Guardians trailing four to two as Tanner Bybee's back at it,
bottom of the fifth inning facing Ramon Arias.
He went too far, the home plate umpire rung him up,
and Arias can't believe it, he was halfway to first.
He did not check his swing, and Arias is out on strikes.
Bybee's fourth strikeout.
Cedric Mullins earns yet another walk.
So that's four walks, which matches his last game.
Got him, had him leading, picked him off.
Yeah, you could tell he slipped when he started to come back,
and if Santana applied the tag, he was a dead duck.
Bybee with another pickoff, one of the best moves in the game.
Swing and a miss, he struck him out to end the inning.
Five strikeouts on the night for Tanner Bybee.
Sugano's career high, this of course just his fourth big league start,
was five and a third in Kansas City, but right now he's at only 67 pitches.
Line to third, Arias is all over it.
Oh, that glove glistens.
Gold glove winner.
On a leap at third, Ramirez retired, and there's one away.
Deep fly ball to center here, Mullins will get to it.
Wow, softly hit the first two here in the sixth.
A long fly ball out off the bat of Carlos Santana, and there's two away.
Swing and a miss, he strikes out Arias.
And for the first time for Tomo Sugano, he goes six complete,
and he's allowed only two runs.
So Westbrook will extend the inning after he beats that out
on a slow roll at a short stop.
Here's Heston Kerstad, four to two Baltimore.
He hits it high in the air, deep right field, way back it goes,
heading for the bleachers, that baby's gone.
That is going to be way out of here.
Kerstad crushed his one.
Second home run of the homestand, the Orioles third tonight.
The Orioles are bringing the thunder to Tanner Bybee this evening.
And Bybee not happy with himself.
Tomo Sugano trying to go where no Oriole has gone before in 2025,
and that's getting out in the seventh inning.
Ground ball to the first, Mountcastle.
This time he couldn't collect it cleanly, and then he hit the runner.
Oh, pow, right in the kisser.
He might have got him somewhere in the groin area.
He's trying not to look back.
He's trying to apologize.
Hey, how dare you get a base hit?
We're laughing because we know.
You know how many times I wanted to do that when a guy got a hit off me?
Breaking ball grounded a short stop.
That's one.
That is two.
Oh, there you go.
Couldn't have got it much better.
Well, you couldn't have made a better pitch.
Easy double play.
And that's 20 the Orioles have turned in 18 games.
Struck him out.
That'll certainly work, won't it?
Tomoyuki Sugano may have just had his welcome to the big leagues moment.
In his second home start,
he goes seven through an ovation here at Camden Yards.
Keegan Aitken is out after allowing the single to Stephen Kwan.
Now Sir Anthony Dominguez on to face Jose Ramirez.
Six-two Orioles.
Struck him out, another splitter.
Boy, those are all-time splits.
The bat ends up by first base,
and Ramirez's pride ends up somewhere in the inner harbor.
Yeah, well, I'll tell you what.
Take a look at this swing because you'll never see it again.
That's how good that pitch was against one of the better hitters in baseball.
Well, the Orioles have been treading water for a few weeks.
They get a chance for their first back-to-back wins,
their first series win,
and they'll try to do so behind Felix Bautista.
Guardians are not done yet.
They've got two on with one out.
Cleveland down six to two, Lane Thomas 0 for three.
Swing and a miss.
He got him on a high split.
It stayed up.
Thomas is down on strikes,
and the Orioles need just one more to get that first series win of 2025.
He struck him out.
Mr. Splitter comes to play.
Felix strikes out the last two on the split,
and the Orioles have their first series win of the season.
