We had planned that our first overnight trip in our new Roadtrek Zion campervan would be at Porteau Cove Provincial Park, about a 45 minute drive from Vancouver. So for our first day trip, we decided to scout the location out. We then spent a couple of subsequent weekends there as well. Hope you enjoy the video!
So we're settled in and Precious is eating her meal and she seems pretty comfortable.
Got her litter box in the washroom and as you can tell outside it's just pouring down
and I've got lots of stuff put away now. Lots of room still.
In the back area and this is where we've got our cat settled down and
she's just learning her way around. We'll see if we can make her way up there.
A little step. There we go. Good job. Good job. Let's get this out of the way. Come on Precious.
You can do it. Come on. You can do it. Jump. Jump. Good girl. Good girl. So that needs to get out
You like your little spot? There's your little spot right there. Precious's little spot. Yeah.
So we velcroed the shower curtain that we bought from Ikea to add to the insulation and the only
issue I found is that they don't stay on the shower curtain very well so my project for tonight is to
and on a windy mountain road but we made it safe and sound and we're again here at Porto Cove.
It's actually pretty easy to drive. Okay. It's like driving a car but it was longer. Longer. Yeah
and the weird thing is you have to look at the mirrors for the blind spot
because you can't um you know you I think instinctively you turn around
turn your head but it doesn't matter because you can't see a blind spot anyway so you have to rely
on the mirrors which just takes a little getting used to but um but it was good. It was a good
experience but I was pretty nervous anyway. We're back here at Porto Cove for an overnight trip
and we're settled in now and our little kitty cats all settled in and trying to snooze.
We've set her her little bed up and we've got a heating pad underneath so she's nice and warm
and oh the other thing is we love this van. It's called uh Bornado and it's so super quiet
um so much better than having the surf furnace come on and off so we're plugged in right now.
We've got power to our campsite so we're able to leave that on and we'll probably leave that
on all night um and it'll be nice and quiet and toasty warm in our van and again it's raining.
There's the campsite. I'll walk around and show you in a minute. So I just swiveled my seat around
and it's actually quite comfortable.
Look at the view I have. Oh there's ducks swimming in the water. A couple of ducks
and somebody's fishing out there. It's too bad because um when we first arrived
it wasn't raining so Gordon put the awning out to dry it out from last time
uh but I had to put it back in again because um it's starting to rain.
That's Vancouver in the wintertime.
too soon for uh first week of February. Quite a few people here considering.
What's nice about it is it's uh it's probably the more sheltered spot there is here.
The big one there? The double? Well the more you're around
the less the wind coming down the inlet. You guys have got like it's perfect for the fan
I'm very impressed. I wish I was at it before today. When you think about it
you probably spent you know only a couple thousand bucks. Want to check on Precious?
I'd love to see what you can buy uh a camera for your rv so you can look inside when you're away.
Oh yeah. It's not that expensive actually. Just it only works if you're a wife. I always look
Closed for the winter but you can always use the outhouse here. We've got a rooftop here.
Oh yeah. This is probably my favorite spot. This is a nice spot yeah it's reserved too bad
and it's up high too from the beach so you don't have to worry about high tide and storms.
Storm surges.
The fire pit's a long way away. Yeah and you've got a nice view all around the water.
We'll have to remember this one. Number 11. The person that's reserved it is not here yet
but it's only it's not even three o'clock in the afternoon. This is a smaller one.
Yeah this is gorgeous because it sticks out. It's a slightly different time of year. You
actually have sunshine on your hair which would be nice. I'm going for the dog leash.
I think this is perfect for our van. Remember this spot too. Number 13.
Lucky 13.
The rowdy crowds over there. This isn't bad either. Number 17.
You sleeping little girl? You sleeping little girl? What's that? What's that flashing light?
I don't know where she's at. It's good because she's under the shade. She's under the shadow of
a cabinet so she doesn't get necessarily the bright light on her head which is good.
I'm impressed.
Didn't sleep very well because the rain kept pattering on the roof all night.
