The soldiers took Jesus to the leaders. People shouted lies.
The leaders asked him many questions, but Jesus stayed quiet.
He wasn't there to fight. He came to save.
Pontius Pilate stood before the people and said,
What should I do with Jesus? The crowd yelled,
Crucify him! Even though he had done nothing wrong,
They chose to let him die. The soldiers put a heavy wooden cross
on Jesus' back. He carried it through the streets,
step by step, even though he was tired and hurt.
He didn't stop because he loved us. They led Jesus to a place called Calvary.
Two other men were being crucified there too.
The sky was cloudy. The world felt heavy.
They nailed Jesus to the cross. He looked at the people and said,
Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're doing.
Even in pain, he showed love. One man on the cross next to Jesus
made fun of him. But the other man believed.
He said, Jesus, remember me. And Jesus replied,
Today, you will be with me in paradise. For three hours, the sky grew dark.
The whole land was still. Then Jesus cried out,
It is finished. And he died. At that very moment,
the curtain in the temple tore in two. From top to bottom,
it was a sign. The way to God was now open to everyone.
Jesus' friends gently took his body and placed it in a tomb.
A big stone was rolled in front, and guards stood watch.
Everyone thought the story was over. Three days later, early in the morning,
some women came to visit the tomb. But the stone was rolled away,
and Jesus' body was gone. An angel stood there and said,
He is not here. He is risen, just like he said.
The women ran to tell the others. Their sadness turned into joy.
Jesus appeared to his friends, alive and smiling.
He had defeated death, and now, nothing could ever separate us from his love.
This is the story of how Jesus gave his life for mankind,
and rose again. This is the good news,
that Jesus is alive, and he loves you.
