Lalibela: the Holiest city in Africa | Ethiopia vlog

Lalibela is considered one of the most sacred and holiest cities in Africa— it also has some of the friendliest people!!

Lalibela is located in the Amhara region in northern Ethiopia. One of the things that makes this town so unique are 12 rock-hewn churches. They were built from one piece of stone over 900 years ago. Lalibela has now been established as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every year hundreds of people and orthodox christians make their pilgrimage to this holy land. Lalibela has even been referred to as the " second Jerusalem" , built by King Lalibela and some angels. The churches are magnificent! This is one of my favorites places to visit in Ethiopia- I highly recommend going!
