We accepted an invitation from our good friends to driveway surf at their home in Victoria on Vancouver Island in our Roadtrek Zion. We visit the Church and State Winery, enjoy scenic ocean walks and have a wonderful visit despite the lithium battery issue that crops up again.
It's Saturday, the first week of November, and we're in the ferry lineup, and we're heading
over to Victoria to go driveway surfing at our friend's place.
This is the first time we're going to be driveway surfing in an urban environment, so it should
be interesting.
It doesn't look very busy at the ferry terminal, but there is no noon ferry, so we're really
really early for the one o'clock, and that's why there's so little cars.
You got some food, you got water, I don't know what else you want.
Happiest when she's getting all the attention.
As Mickey said, we're at the ferry terminal, it's getting kind of windy and kind of rainy,
which of course, the rain's not a big issue, but the wind means the ferry trip might be
a little bumpy.
But the ships are quite big, and after 45 minutes, we're amongst the Gulf Islands, so
it's a lot smoother there.
The issue when it's windy, actually, typically is landing.
They have a hard time docking if it's really windy.
The sailings themselves aren't an issue.
The other issue, you might see our windows are starting to fog up, and that's just because
we've got a window in the front open.
But one of the challenges in a road trip Zion is the windows are sliding windows like this,
and as soon as you open a window, then we've got the wind blowing in, and we've got rain
blowing in.
So if we had windows more on the Mercedes chassis that opened outwards, I think that
would be nicer, but they work.
And while we're waiting at the ferry, I'm actually watching Olympic Trials on television.
We had about seven or eight stations, and you're going to see teeth whitening.
You're getting an ad.
It was there, it's just an ad.
And Precious is relaxing.
Hopefully it won't be too bumpy for her on the ferry.
I didn't even notice the wind at all.
I think we're ahead of the big storm, which is coming tonight.
So we have some time to kill.
It's about quarter to three, and we're not due to be at our friend's place until four
o'clock, so we're just doing a little drive around the outskirts of Victoria.
Taking the scenic route.
Pooja Gardens are very nice gardens in Victoria.
It's worth a visit.
And we're just going to pop by the Church and State Winery, since we have time.
They have a tasting room and a nice restaurant here.
We just left the Church and State Winery, and we're headed over to our friend's place
now.
We had a really great visit to the winery.
Just a note that all their grapes are actually currently grown in the Okanagan, and they
also have a winery in Oliver.
Which is near Soyuz, where we were at in our Soyuz video.
And then a lot of the white grapes are grown here on the peninsula near Victoria.
We bought a few red wines, and the one we particularly liked was called the coup d'etat.
It's $55 Canadian, and it's a blend of different wines, and I'll list it down below.

Good morning.
So we stayed last night at our friend's, and we were up reasonably late, but we got up
this morning.
You'll see some clips from early this morning down the beach.
They live within a block of a beautiful part of Victoria.
So we got some nice video from this morning, with the sun coming up, ocean, birds.
There was a great sort of white looking seal, but the second we went to get our camera to
take a picture, he or she disappeared very quickly.
It was pouring rain up until sometime in the middle of the night, and then it stopped,
and then it was just quiet and peaceful.
It was a good night's sleep, although we stayed up late having a nice time with our friends.
Yeah, one unfortunate thing for us was about probably 4 or 5 in the morning, we had battery
problems once again.
The same lithium battery that we had the switch adjusted for and fixed maybe what, two weeks
ago?
Unfortunately went out at about 4 in the morning.
So it was okay, we were just running on one battery, so we switched to the other, but
very annoying because now it's going to be another trip back to the dealer to see if
it's the same problem or something different.
But hey, it's a beautiful morning.
Campground is closed for the season.
They're nice, but they're kind of, the nice thing is they're right next to the beach.
No picnic tables or fire pits, but.
Yes, I was wrong about the picnic tables, they just put them away for the season.
So we had a great trip to Victoria and a visit with our friends, and we lucked out
with the weather.
We're heading back to Vancouver right now.
We thought we'd also note though that now that we're kind of entering full winter season,
we won't be posting probably as frequently, we'll probably post once every two weeks.
And that's simply because the weather is not getting that good and we're not going to probably
be out as much in our RV.
We will do some winter trips, so there will be some videos, but just not as often as we
have been.
And we do have some upcoming overseas travel planned as well.
But thanks for watching, and if you enjoy our videos, please hit that subscribe button.
