Hey skaters! I'm Dirty Deborah Harry with the Dirty School of Skate and Sugar Thriller Skate
and as you can see, I'm back again here in my home in Long Beach, California. You guys,
I'm so excited to bring you today's video because today's video is all about kids. So,
if your kids are running around your house, driving you crazy, go grab them right now. Tell
them to put their skates on because this video is all about me teaching your kids how to skate. So,
pause this video. I'll wait. You go get your skates. Go get your kids. Come on back.
All right skaters, you're back. I assume you got your kids and your skates on. Let's get started.
Before that, I just remembered some of you may not have skates and you may be sitting around
your house saying, where do we get skates? Well, I got a place for you. I need you to roll on over
to planetrollerskate.shop. The cows over there can help you. They can get you skates, wheels, plates,
accessories, bags, everything you need for skating. Okay, they've got kids skates there too. So, if
you're just watching this video and saying, I don't have skates, no problem. We'll get on the computer
after and you can order them. All right, so let's start with how do you roller skate? Let me tell you
this, kiddos, there is absolutely one guarantee in roller skating. Do you know what that guarantee is?
There's one guarantee that every single one of you is going to fall down. I'm going to fall down.
You're going to fall down. Your brother, your sister, even Griffin, my favorite seven-year-old
fan on YouTube, you're going to fall down. Everyone's going to fall down. So, what ends up happening
is sometimes you're just skating along, minding your own business and all of a sudden, boom,
you've fallen. Now, once you've fallen, you think this might be a good time to, I don't know, cry.
Guess what? It's not because you only have three and I'm telling you three seconds to get up. No
longer than that. As soon as you hit the ground, you tell yourself, up, up, up. That's three steps.
Up, up, up. Now, anytime you think you're going to fall down, I want you to get real low, kiddos.
Get real low. When you're skating around, I don't want you to think, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
I'm going to fall and get real huge. I want you to think, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, not today.
I need you to get low when you think you're going to fall. Do you know why?
Because sometimes you can save yourself from falling. You won't even fall. You'll just think
you're going to fall. You get down real, real, real, real, real low and then you're like, yes, I'm still
rolling. So, kiddos, if you fall, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry. When you fall,
have fun with it. I need you to laugh. Falling's funny. You're not the only one who's going to fall.
Your friend's going to fall down too and when they fall, you look at your friend and you say,
up, up, up. When I fall down, you look at me and you say, dirty, up, up, up. When you fall down on
the ground, you tell yourself, up, up, up. Got three seconds to get up. So, let's practice. Right now,
everyone stand up on your skates and on the count of three, I need you to get on the ground. Ready?
Ready? I don't feel like everyone's ready. How come everyone's not standing up on their skates?
I can see you. I don't feel like you're... Oh, okay, now you did it. Good. Okay, now we're up, right?
We're standing up on our skates. We're going to get real low and just get on the ground.
We're going to say, whoa, whoa. One, two, three. Oh, I'm down on the ground. Oh,
how many seconds do I have? What do I say? Up, up, up. Ready? One, two, three.
I'm up. All righty. So, let's just take this time to practice your up and down fall. Everyone up,
up, up, up, up, up. Ready? Ready? On the count of three, everyone's going to fall down on the ground.
One, two, three. You fall. You fall, too. You fall, too. No, I don't have to keep doing it.
Why do you think I have to keep doing it? I don't. You do. I teach. You do. Okay, skaters. Now that
you understand that you're going to fall and it's okay, you're not going to get hurt, you might smack
your bottom a little bit, but that's it. It's not a big deal. You can just get up, up. With those
three magic words, up, up, up, you're up. Okay, now let's skate. Very first thing you need to know
that you absolutely have to do is the penguin position. What's the penguin position? It is
simply when we stick our feet like how a penguin walks. Do you see that? Skaters, I just need you
to take your heels and go like this. You put them in the penguin position. Now, I need you to take
your hips and I need you to lower your hips and put your arms out to the side. Keep your chin up.
Don't look down. Now, we're going to pick up our feet and we're going to walk in the penguin
position. Penguin, penguin, penguin, penguin, penguin. Okay, let me show you again. Again, I put my heels
together. I don't know if you guys can see this, but look. My heels, my wheels are actually touching
when I do the penguin position. Actually touching when we start, okay? So, I'm going to put my heels
together. I got my wheels touching so I don't roll. I put my arms out like here. I take this part of my
body and stick it down. I look straight ahead and I go.
Oh, right. You want to see it again? Here's my penguin position. I'm down. I got my hips down
right. Got my chin up. Got my shoulders straight across. I'm pulling this in nice and tight. Got
my arms out, okay? Penguin, penguin, penguin, penguin, penguin. I don't know the sound a penguin
makes, but you can make that sound. Now that we've got that down, let's go on to the next position.
You need to act like you are an airplane. An airplane. Now, skaters. Do you know what kind of
wings an airplane has? An airplane has really rigid wings. Stiff, hard, hard to move so that they can fly.
Right? You know what? Oh, no, no, no, no. Not that. No, no, no. Not this. Those are noodles. That's spaghetti.
I can't have you going like this. No. Airplane wings. I need you to have penguin feet and airplane
wings. Stick your area down. Airplane wings. Penguin feet.
Airplane. None of this. None of that. No, no, no, no, no. No noodles. Airplanes. We're going to try it
one more time. I am an airplane. I've got penguin feet. I'm down low. My chin is up and I move side
to side, side to side, side to side. Now, you guys, did you see it? My wheels started to roll just a little bit.
I'm down. I've got airplane arms and penguin feet and I roll, roll, roll, roll. Okay? All right, skaters.
We've got our penguin feet. We've got our airplane arms. But you know that in skating,
do you remember what I said to you in the very beginning? Everyone's gonna fall. Even if you have
your super strong airplane wings and you've got your good penguin feet, sometimes you fall. But
you can stop that falling process by what? What? Transforming yourself. Yes, we can go from
airplane to tiny car. Airplane transform into what? I can't hear you. What are we going to
transform into? Yes, yes, yes. Thank you. A tiny car. All right, so let's practice tiny car position.
Skaters, put your feet like this. Now, drop your hips. Get your hands on your steering wheel
and drop down low. When we're low like this, we can roll and probably, almost most definitely,
not fall. Let me show you the whole thing. I'm gonna have my arms out like this. I'm gonna start
with my penguin position. Let's go, skaters. We skate and skate and skate. We're rolling, rolling,
rolling. Tiny car. Let's try it again. Arms out. Penguin. Skate, skate, skate, skate. Tiny car,
tiny car, tiny car, tiny car. Tiny car. Hey, skaters. Okay, so what have we learned so far?
We've learned that everyone's gonna fall. We've learned how to get up. We've learned that you
need to have your penguin position with your airplane arms, and then if you get in trouble at
all, all you have to do is transform that airplane into a tiny car. Now, last thing you guys get to
learn is how to turn around on your roller skates, okay? So, everyone up off the ground. Why are you
sitting on the couch? Put that phone down. Turn off that other video. Up. Class is still in session.
All right, skaters. Are you all up? All right. Okay, everyone put their arms in the airplane
position. Put your feet in a penguin position. Drop your hips. Now, I want you to make some noise
with your feet, okay? I want you to make some noise with your feet. Ready to turn around?
I want you to pick up one foot, then pick up the other. Pick up one, pick up the other. Make some
noise. Make some noise. Make some noise. Excellent. Let's try it again, but let's go in the other
direction, okay? Put your arms out in the airplane position. Put your feet in the penguin position.
Get down low. Ready? Go the other way and make some noise. Make some noise. Make some noise
and make some noise. Excellent, skaters. I can see you. Oh, yes. You did good. I can still see you
spinning. Excellent job. All right, skaters. So, I think this is enough for today. In my next video
created just for you, maybe we'll go outside and we'll figure out how to skate with your dog,
maybe your cat. I don't know yet. I'm going to figure it out. But, kiddos, I love skating with
you. So, please make sure you tune in again when I have a video made just for you. And for parents
out there, if you're watching this, all of these techniques that I just showed, it's the same thing
with adults, but we call it different things. You're going to put out your arms. You're going
put your feet in a V position. You're going to drop your body weight down and you're going to
shift your body weight from side to side. Put your weight on the ball of your foot to cruise around.
That's my puppy. Oh, maybe you need to meet my puppy. Okay, wait right here. I'm going to go get
her. Skaters, this is my puppy. Her name's Lucky. She loves to roller skate with me.
Look at that. This is Lucky. Oh, my Lord. She's the best puppy ever.
Come here, Lucky. Oh, yes. All right, skaters, we'll see you next time. Have fun practicing.
Bye.
