Rock Creek is ridiculous fun _ Mountain Biking Western North Carolina

It's time for a little bike park adventure. Sarah and I are on the green trail at Ride Rock Creek.
Zirconia, North Carolina, I think, technically.
Yeah, I've been hearing about this place for a while. I think it's a brother-sister-cousin
with Canuga Bike Park, which is just up the road. This is about 30 minutes south of Hendersonville,
which is where Sarah and I always base our Western North Carolina adventures.
The most central area to ride everything.
And it's where my mother-in-law lives, so it's easy.
Yeah, these runs are about 700 feet. They got a nice little shuttle system. Oh, it feels good.
Nice. I'm on my Yeti SB140 demo bike from Squatch Bikes in Brevard. Scott and Heather were
very nice to hook us up for this trip. Get out there. Get out to Squatch Bikes.
Get a demo bike. Go stay at the Lumberyard Oasis in Brevard right across the street.
Make a vacation out of it. This is amazing right now.
It gets cold. It gets snowy here and there, but I think a lot of people
continue riding all through the winter.
And the businesses of Western North Carolina could really use your help right now.
Their number one tourist season was knocked out by Hurricane Helene.
They got back on their feet. Most everyone is back on their feet. Not everyone,
but you know, once the power comes back and you got water and food, then you need
your businesses to run. You need the tourists. This is a big-time recreation economy.
Seems like Ride Rock Creek's doing pretty good today, though. Shuttles are running hot.
This is good.
If this is the green trail, then everything else is going to be spicy.
See if I can catch up.
I was going light. There we go. I got her. I got her. I feel it.
Right there. No, she got away.
Right here. Right here. Right here. Yeah.
Oh, that took all of my energy.
Wow. This is a heck of a run.
That berm on the right, no one rides, but maybe it would have set us up.
Oh, yeah. What a hoot.
Yeah. All the problems just melt away.
Except for the biggest problem of them all, staying hydrated on a big old bike park day.
I think there's only one way to do it with the best electrolyte drink mix in the business.
It's Element, the fine sponsor of today's video.
The Element mission is to restore health through hydration.
If you don't have your electrolytes dialed in, you're going to get headaches and cramps.
You're going to have that general tiredness that we all hate.
Element checks all the boxes for me. Tastes fantastic. Doesn't have a pound of sugar.
Keeps me fired up through a ride, but doesn't make me jittery like all that caffeine stuff.
And it never messes with my stomach.
The Element thesis is out with sugar and in with salt.
They believe that most people, especially active people that get out and sweat a lot,
need more salt in their diet to feel good and perform their best.
One packet of Element in a water bottle is a perfect way to give your body
the sodium, potassium, and magnesium that it needs.
And an even better way, in my opinion,
is through the Element sparkling water drinks. Have these before and after a ride as well.
If you give Element a try, I really think you're going to like it.
But anything's possible and they have a fantastic refund policy.
Just shoot them an email. If you don't like it, you don't have to send the product back.
You are taking zero risk on your first taste of Element.
So head on over to drinkelement.com slash BKXC.
Whether it's your first order or your 500th,
use my link and you're going to get a free eight pack sample pack.
You can try some different flavors. You can share them out with a friend.
I hope you're still staying active through this winter.
And if you are, you still got to get your electrolytes dialed in.
Do it with Element. Head on over to drinkelment.com slash BKXC.
Really cool to see how much work they put into all of this stuff, not just the trails.
It's a beautiful thing.
All right, looking for Bark Buster trail number two on the flow chart.
I think I got a little, a little more rebound in the back wheel,
which is helping me get off the ground really good.
But it's also popping that saddle up through my, through my legs really unexpectedly.
Push. Oh, I messed that up.
Got to push down a lot harder than I'm used to here, especially on stuff like that.
The guys at Squatch described this place as Pisgah without the pedaling.
That's a cool, cool way to look at it.
All right. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, this is Pisgah.
Big time. I think it's called Bark Buster for all the narrow trees.
Rattle my vision.
Wow. Oh man, it's going to get intense if this is the second hardest.
Oh yeah. Beat down.
Okay. We're looking for Tumbleweed and we were fully confused on how to get to it.
I guess it's going to split off of this.
Two different signs that have two different directions.
Is that it there?
I don't want to waste this run.
Yeah, it's funny because they had a really nice sign that showed that
certain trails were jump trails or free ride trails. And I don't think Tumbleweed was on it.
This is cool though.
Skidmark Central. Wow. Artisanal berm. Fully sculpted.
Oh God. Gotta be ready.
Oh man, the momentum is just...
My contact lens is popping out.
All right. This one's George Green. Not on the map, but we saw it.
Should we turn it around and climb back up and do the green trail again?
Hey, we're on the green trail.
Oh, that was so good. Wow. Cutting her close.
Danger is her middle name.
Yeah. Amazing. Oh God, it's so scary coming out of that berm because it's the one you can
just rail so hard, but then you're on this little step down thing. Brutal. That's so good.
Skip everything else and ride the green trail.
I thought it was already four o'clock. It's only two o'clock. We're going to get a couple
more runs in. I want to get about five more on that green trail. Chicken line.
Oh no.
Oh yeah.
Crazy how buff all the dirt is.
Whoa. Yikes. Okay, black diamond. I should have known.
Drop. Clunk the fork on that, actually. That's rare. And I feel like the fork is super stiff.
Oh man, that's interesting.
Get going. Kind of ready in my head for some other wicked challenge. Oh yeah. There we go.
Tire ripper. A little too steep on that. That might actually roll. It's just a little. Nice.
Well done. Nice.
Dang. Well, not feeling my grip. Oh no. Those roots are...
Wow. This is a long trail. Nice and dry. I like that. This is wet. It'd be tough.
Wow. That was awesome. Okay. That was definitely the second best trail.
Green trail number one. Black trail number two. Dark hollow.
Okay. Green river again. Try to be smooth.
Not just maniacally fast. Yeah.
Oh, this is a test of strength.
No brake on that one.
Outside.
Easy.
That one again. Every time.
Yeah. Man. What an experience.
Yeah. Little mini double.
Easy. Oh. Almost ran over the top.
Oh, these pedal strokes are hurtful.
There we go.
Wow. Incredible. Just too good. This is. Man. You could spend a week in this whole area
the Pisgah area. This is like 30 minutes, you know, south of Pisgah Brevard, but easily spend
a week, two weeks, never ride something the same and everything you ride would be absolutely amazing.
I've got that other favorite ride, Avery and Bennett on the trail one list
and then several other really good nearby rides.
Oh, I got to hit this berm. It slows you down the right way.
Oh, big boy.
So good. Yeah.
Man, that's so fun. That is just ridiculous.
Pound for pound. That's one of the best trails in the world.
A hundred percent. It is so awesome to have another character added to the
Pisgah cinematic universe. Western North Carolina has so much to offer if you are a traveling
mountain biker and you haven't been there, especially since if you're in like New York
City, Chicago, it's like 10 hour drive away. You should be able to get there with your bike,
drive the day and then spend a month there riding. I've been visiting this area every
single year for about eight years now and there's still plenty of things I haven't ridden that are
high on my list. So I'm going to get out there. I'm going to keep going. I got a couple more
rides to show off and then next year I got to go back and ride everything else. But until then,
do me a favor, go ride something new and maybe I'll see on the trail.
