It's time for the series finale Braves and Phillies. The rubber game tonight at
Truist Park. It will be another great pitching matchup here at Truist Park
tonight. Two guys off to very strong starts. The Phillies will send Jesus
Lozardo to the hill. He is 2-0 in a Phillies uniform. He's allowed just two
runs in 12 innings so far. Lozardo has struck out 19 of the 46 batters he has
faced this season and the Braves will be sending Spencer Schwellenbach and he has
been outstanding so far this season. He has started the year with 14
consecutive scoreless innings and retired 41 of the 46 batters that he has
faced. 14 of them via the strikeout. Schwarber Turner who hit the big homer
last night. Harper also had a homer. Kind of a half swing awkward off the bat as
Schwarber gets all the way out to Fairchild who gets a start tonight for
Atlanta in right field. Yep at the knees first strike out of the night for
Schwarzenegger as he freezes Trey Turner. Bryce Harper hearing some boos. This one
is pretty well hit to left but going back it over as De La Cruz to take it.
Schwarzenegger has a one two three first. Ozzie Albee's bats leading off tonight
for the Braves. The one-two. Not a shot. Swung on and missed. He got him with the
slider. Lozardo who has been striking folks out at a pretty good clip here his
first two starts. Starts tonight. That is high. 97 misses. One on one out.
Generally over the course of his career when Lozardo has gotten into some
trouble it has been because of walks. High pitch counts. Here's Marcel Lozano.
So we come into the dugout and this is where the Braves have been having so
many conversations these first couple of weeks about hitting strategy, hitting
philosophy. As you can see here Marcel working on his load trying to get a
little shorter swing path and be more on plane when facing some nasty stuff.
But that is fair. Inside the bag out of Ozuna. He heads for third. And Ozuna has a double. The Braves are in business in the first.
Now you do all that work you have those conversations so that you make sure
your swing is right so you can get to 97 miles an hour. That's a good pitch and
it's located in inner third. But Marcel so quick with those mechanics.
Phillies will play back on the infield here. Matt Olsen now. Grounder to the right side.
Infield back. They'll concede the run and the Braves go on top. One to nothing in the first.
And RBI number six for Matt Olsen. Job well done. Got him looking.
Fastball up and in. Murphy didn't think that he had the top of the zone nor the
inside corner of the zone. But Mark Carlson rings him up. Two strikeouts in
the inning for Lozardo. But the Braves pick up a run. And that'll bring up Alec
Bohm. And again Bohm dropped in the lineup today. Bohm's average at 178.
He's got eight hits in 45 at-bats so far this season. Two outs. One nothing Braves.
Swung on. Ripped. And it's caught by Auby's. And Bohm can't buy a hit right now.
That ball was absolutely smoked. No runs a hit. One left by the Philz.
Bryson Stott will lead off here in the top of the third inning. It's one nothing Atlanta.
As Stott serves it the other way. A base hit. And it's the second hit of the night.
Again all the hits that Schwolenbach's given up this year. But against lefties.
Now the bottom of the order. And Brandon Marsh who's won for five so far in this
series. Ground ball. Olsen's got it. Steps on the bag. Throws to second. Double play.
That worked out perfectly. Two down. Matt Olsen it's really fun to watch play
defense over at first base. Of course a former Gold Glover. A homer. Three
strikeouts and two walks for Schwarber this series. A very Kyle Schwarber type series.
Fly ball. Right center field. Harris going back. No chance. That one is.
Gop in the center field. Schwarber has just tied this ball game up at one.
If there's someone that's going to give Schwellenbach an earned run it's the
Schwarbarian. First run he's allowed this season. Kyle Schwarber so strong.
Braves can take the lead with a base hit right here. It's a 1-1 game. We're in the
bottom of the third. Olsen the batter. How about this. It's a dozen pitches and
this whole sequence started off with a foul ball. He was swinging to the first
pitch. He's fighting. A lot of sweepers in there Matt. He's done a really good job
fighting those off. He's in swing mode but all these pitches seem to be in the
strike zone. So just a really good at bat by Olsen. How many is that? 14? That was the 13th pitch.
Pitch number 14. 3-2.
Ground ball out towards second. Should be two. There's one and two.
Well after all that you're going to throw 15 pitches. You might as well get two outs out of it.
That's exactly what Lozardo got. The Braves strand a man and we're through three. It's a 1-1 game.
Well now second and third. Two down for Bryce Harper. And now they're going to give the free pass to Harper to load the bases.
Get a guy who is ultra-aggressive and Nick Castellanos the guy that you struck out twice already.
So Snit likes this matchup better. Both of those strikeouts against this man Castellanos on that
slider. Again the 0-2 and he got him. The slider all three times to get Castellanos.
And this time the Phillies leave him loaded. What a big pitch. Marcelo Zuna leads it off for the
Braves and a strike three called right on cue. There's another hundred bucks. Five strikeouts
tonight. Back to that breaking ball. I don't know what Zuna is complaining about. A 2-2. Check swing.
He went. Wow. Six strikeouts. I didn't see that from up here but we'll take it. Look at the side
view here. Oh yeah. Yes he did. It was close. Dan Merzell said yeah you won. Windup and a 2-2.
Swung on hitting the air to right. Straight away not deep. Waiting on it Castellanos who'll make
the catch. Six strong from Jesus Lozardo tonight as the rain continues to fall in Atlanta. We're
going to the seventh. It's a 1-1 game. We're not going to start this seventh inning. The rain has
just started in earnest and the ground screw has come out. They've put the tarp on the field
as we are officially in a rain delay as of 8 45 tonight. Well this is knocking on the door of
almost a three-hour rain delay but it's great that we can finish this game. Also Harper down
the second base on the steal. Castellanos strikes out and one away the runner in second base.
Swung on hit in the air center field. It's pretty deep. Harris going back towards the track nearing
the track and onto the dirt. He'll make the catch in front of the Braves bullpen. Harper scampers
into third base and that's where he will stop as Kepler put a pretty good swing on that one.
De Los Santos brings it. Romito swings at a fly ball towards left. De La Cruz. Foxtrot's over to
his left. He's under it. Makes the catch and there's out number three. Well done by De Los
Santos and the Braves avoid damage on that leadoff walk. There's a one two three bottom of the eighth
inning and we'll head to the ninth here in Atlanta. It's the Phillies one and the Braves one. This is
one of the greatest things I've ever seen. A Marcelo Zuna look-alike and a darn good one
has stayed with us through the two hour and 45 minute rain delay. Oh did he get it? He got it.
The doppelganger for the big bear. It looks like he wanted to throw it around the horn.
So two up two down bottom of the ninth and a lefty lefty matchup here as Strom faces Jared Kelnick.
Strike three call. Got him looking and Strom with a pair of strikeouts here in a one two three
bottom of the ninth and wouldn't you know after a two hour 45 minute rain delay we're going to play
extra innings tonight. He'll intentionally walk Bryce Harper put the bat in the hands of Nick
Castellanos who's 0-4 with four strikeouts. He struck him out. Welcome to Atlanta Rafael Montero.
And Kelnick over to third base and now a sack fly can win the game. Here's Nick Allen to the
plate. He's singled in the seventh inning. Pitch is whacked toward third. Gobbled up by Bohl.
Looks the runner back. Throws to first. Dug out by Harper. Two outs here in the tenth inning.
Hummer had time to pick it. Wipe his hand on his pant leg and then make the throw to first base.
Bouncer over the mounds. Charging his turner. He's got it. Throws on the run.
Inning is over. What a job. Tanner Banks throws a scoreless tenth inning.
Rojas draws the bases loaded walk and the Phillies finally get their second run of the night.
It's Reilly, Ozuna and Olsen with Ozzie Albee as the place runner at second base.
Reilly hits it well out to right center. It's going to at least tie this game and that's what
it'll do. RBI double to a piece in the 11th. Been such a tough frustrating start to the
year for the Braves. This would be some way to get their first series win of the season.
In there. Bluffs center. Game that started on April 10th
ends on April 11th and the Braves win the series.
