The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced today that it will
begin reviewing immigrants social media for anti-Semitic activity entities.
Arlene Richards has the details.
The U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services or USCIS is immediately implementing the
president's executive orders on combating anti-Semitism and terrorism.
In an official announcement on Wednesday, USCIS stated that it will begin
considering aliens anti-Semitic activities on social media and the
physical harassment of Jewish individuals as grounds for denying
immigration benefit requests.
The announcement complies with President Trump's series of executive orders,
including protection from foreign terrorists and other national security
threats.
The new measure will immediately affect immigrants applying for lawful permanent
resident status, as well as foreign students and immigrants associated with
educational institutions linked to anti-Semitic activity.
A spokesperson said this move is also in response to Secretary of Homeland
Security Kristi Noem's declaration that anti-Semitic violence and terrorism are
not welcome in the U.S.
Secretary Noem, speaking in Arizona Tuesday, said they were going to use every
tool in the toolbox to take action.
We're going to deploy new technologies not only at the border, but at our ports
of entry and in our interior to make sure that we're sharing information with
other agencies at all levels.
And we're also going to be sharing more information, biometrics, DNA testing and
being much more efficient, working to get everybody more authorities that they
need to be able to take action in every single interdiction that we have.
She said they would be reviving immigration laws that haven't been used
in years.
We are, for the first time since World War Two, enforcing the Alien
Registration Act.
The Alien Registration Act says that if you're in this country for longer than
30 days illegally, you must register with the federal government.
And when those 30 days are up, and if you haven't done that, now we can
criminally charge you.
The registration effort, which is set to begin on Friday, would require millions
of illegal immigrants to get fingerprinted and submit biometric
information. They're also required to carry proof of registration or face
arrest and federal prosecution.
A federal judge on Tuesday was skeptical that the president could enact the
policy. Arlene Richards, NTD News.
