Forgotten Deep In the Woods, a Retro Time Capsule Home Abandoned for 19 Years
Back in 2015 or so @RiddimRyder and I were both searching Google maps, furiously trying to find an abandoned house that we had very few clues to go on. While we were following breadcrumbs that would eventually lead us to that house we were looking for, one of us spotted something interesting.
There was a large remote forested area that seemed to have some kind of a structure hidden way back in the woods, we both tagged it on our location maps to one day check it out.
Fast forward to the Fall of 2017 and RiddimRyder was in the area and decided to check in on this anomaly in the woods. Parking well off site, as we do, Riddim made his way up an extremely long and overgrown driveway. Not just overgrown but riddled with downed trees, making for an interesting hike to the house.
Up this long driveway, the wood panelled cabin looking house comes into view, as well as three old cars, totally covered with years upon years of fallen pine needles
I have been to this location twice, once in 2017 within days of RiddimRyders discovery and again for a return visit with Riddim in 2018.
This place is so well hidden and difficult to access and although we know it has been abandoned for more than 15 years, it still felt that at any moment someone would come home
Based on documents we found in the house as well as the calendars on the wall we determined that the house had been left abandoned around 15 years or so. Also, judging by the difficult approach to this secluded house, no one had been there for a very very long time!
Now in 2020, the cat is out of the bag and 3 years after it’s discovery there have been quite a few explorers here in recent months.
Let’s go back to 2017 and 2018 and relive my explores of this abandoned time capsule house, hidden in the woods and forgotten for nearly 20 years
