More chances of rain this week

well as we start off the month of April so far it's been pretty cool and also very wet And usually April is one of the wetest months of the year here in w in western Massachusetts The average high temperature for the month of April is 61° and of course we have not seen that in the last few days especially today It was really chilly Heading into the overnight our average low temperature this time of year is right around 37° and once again we are below average for tonight And looking at the rainfall for the month of April we're usually right around 3.7 inches And as of right now we're on track to be around or maybe even slightly above average when it comes to rain And speaking of above average rainfall the trend here in Springfield Massachusetts has been more higher rainfall intensity especially during the spring season up 13% from 1970 So you can see the upward trend in wetter springs and just wetter years in general More precipitation more moisture in the warming atmosphere That also leads us to increasing risk of flood Uh especially here in the northeast You can see the northeast is highlighted as the highest area that is seeing the highest increase in terms of flooding especially when it comes to spring season Working for you I'm 22 storm team meteorologist Chris Bazakis
