Lionel Messi vs Toronto | 06/04/2025

Touches, but very few in the attacking third. More of that has come from. A block that the NFC did. Here come Messi, Miami and Messi. He's got Suarez to his left. He's going to keep it himself. Still, maybe. And Gomez in the end sends it out for a quarter. Yeah, but good composure from Gomez when Messi's Messi. Oh, he's going for that Olympic coach Johnson has to put it over. Take one of them direct from a corner. This time it's to Jordi Alba. The foul is saved by Johnson to go via the foul on Johnson again. It's the earlier save from Sean Johnson on Jordi Alba. Yeah, the technique from Jordi Alba with the amount of bodies in front of Johnson, it's difficult to see a team that has Messi starting from the beginning. They know they're going to have to be at their best. How about the technique from Jordi Alba to hit that directly? Jordi Alba and Busquets and who else? Messi. Robert Taylor cutting it back in for Suarez. Flores short this time. Messi's service is cleared away. Just pull up. Reid Hultzen, the Norwegian striker. This is Messi top of the area. Gomez handles that well. Keeper. Major League Soccer history. The field, because then it gets them into the attack and third when they get in these spots. How easy was that for Miami to break down Toronto? Now Lionel Messi, he is looking for Jordi Alba and finds him. Jordi Alba towards Suarez. I think this year's been a slow start and Sean Johnson would tell you that. I think tonight he wants to be at his best, get back to that form and help this Toronto team get up. Busquets, Messi, Redondo, Messi and Busquets. Jordi Alba, as Toronto has said, to him, there's no doubt he's the center back, but he's deployed him right back multiple times this year. Messi trying to get it through to Jordi Alba for the flexion and to Johnson. Better, better. I think that's a difficult chance for Calendar to save. Great ball in for Bernadeschi. Ulaanbina, Corbinu, oh and in the post. Bernadeschi around Segovia, goes down, no call. So close. Hoover provided a spark off the bench in that scoreless draw last week. Sloppy defending from Luan. Premier League game in 2021 is a really young player. Loans in England, Germany, Switzerland. Sunday Night Soccer. Unlucky, you could say, to not have a goal. Messi clipping this towards Suarez, Rosted heading it forward. Then left at 16 years old to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, their academy. Calendars, they're starting the last three years. It's giving away, it's Suarez, it's Messi, it's Pavicic, it's Messi. Oh, what a block from Rosted. But it's the pressure from Miami that turns in to this opportunity. That extra second touch right there from Messi allows Rosted. Ulaan, Segovia, over to Messi, Messi. In and over. Yeah, but this is where Segovia has been a great addition to this attack because there's versatility to how he sees the game. At times, and Mascherano said when he watched him in his youth, he was playing as a deep line playmaker. And yeah, instead, he's going to keep it himself and give it to Lionel Messi. Suarez making a run behind. Johnson quick off his line. Messi trying to beat Toronto and Sean Johnson, but the sloppiness in the short. Segovia back to Messi. Oh, Petretta, still, Messi, no, and Ulaan hit Johnson. Segovia. Petretta has got to be in better position defending that. It's too easy to allow Messi just with a simple feint to come to his right foot. Referee blowing the whistle, stop and play, making sure that Sean Johnson, there was no head injury there, but Sean Johnson. Frazier said to this week about Ulaan, wait until you see him. Frazier told me that Bryn Hilton reminds him most of the guy he had many bloody battles against back in his playing days. El Pescarito, Carlos Ruiz for open for Miami. Oh, Jordi Alba wanted it behind. Musquets instead goes to Messi. And now Suarez, Rostad defending Suarez. Segovia! On that last line of defense from Toronto. He's a step offside. Good on the assistant referee. You can see his angle directly across the line. But how about the composure finish from Sigurdsson? Unlucky not to get caught on that counter. Messi, big switch. He's looking for Jordi Alba. Thompson there knocks it down. Let's play. They won a wild four to three game in the League's Cup last year. Oh, Messi nutmegs Flores. Messi coming forward over towards Jordi Alba and hits smart. Redondo, Messi. Segovia back to Musquets. Now Jordi Alba cutting it towards Messi. Osorio there tries to clear his legs. And it allows me to get in by Musquets. Miami very patient. Messi into Suarez, tried to get it back off of Flores. This is Frey. Now across Bernardeschi. This season, the Internet was going crazy in support for Ian Frey. They thought he had another knee injury. Redondo, Suarez gets it. Messi, Segovia, Messi. Poked away, well defended by Rosted. Presented by Celsius, pure passion and maximum energy with zero sugar. Barcelona versus Napoli. Oh no, it's Miami. Leaving it for Frey. Messi, what a turn. Messi! Messi gives Inter Miami a 1-0 lead. In absolutely spectacular style. Now the question is going to be whether or not Jordi Alba was in an offside position, making this run in behind Kosey Thompson. Great ball forward from Redondo. He tried to take that extra cup, but it's just a little sloppy from Toronto in these defensive moments. They've survived. They've weathered the storm. Flores felt like he was fouled there with the hold up and the hold off. Is that fair to say? Absolutely. I mean, to Messi's credit, to Messi's level. Land or whatever it may be. But the fact is, if that's anywhere else on the field, the deflection there from Toronto. Quick, they go short. Messi, Segovia. For the referee. Toronto were adamant and furious the moment that goal went in. But they were adamant more so. 30 yards from Sean Johnson. Stands Lionel Messi directly from a free kick. He scored a goal. Can he do it again? Minutes after getting one taken away, Messi just over. Sean Johnson scrambling. Miami's presented by Audi. There will be a minimum of four minutes at it. Here is Messi. Now on his right foot. Oh, he hit that well. It took a deficit heading into halftime unless Messi can change it. Gets around Osorio. Then Flores comes to take it. Javier Mastromano spoke so assertively about how important it is for his team to be points. They've hit the post a couple of times. They've had their opportunities. Messi over the top. Johnson getting there before a nil at halftime, but Miami trying to level the score. Messi, Messi, the ball. And look what it means to Lionel Messi. Thought he had his first minute to go. Taken away for a foul after video review. The inevitable one that levels the score just before halftime. Right at the beginning of this play, there may be a handball from Luan that may may bring this back. But how many times is Lionel Messi going to get an opportunity at top of the 18? Goal stands. Halftime in Fort Lauderdale, Lionel Messi finally gets his. Redondo, Messi, Suarez. We got Messi into Suarez. Narrow angle. Wide. Remarkable. Messi, Redondo. Redondo forward, Messi, here he comes. A lot of room, a lot of time. Messi cutting it. Pico, patient. Pico, it was blocked. Rostead again, sliding in corner, coming Miami. Just got to be so careful, bending, but not breaking against center Miami, because that mean. Suarez, Messi, Jordi Alba in the middle. Messi, Segovia. Messi, couldn't handle it. Redondo over to Messi, cutting inside. Still Messi, Pico back, Messi, heavy touch. Redondo, left footed shot was blocked. They can hit it as a stir. Messi for Miami. They got overlapping. Messi keeping it. Messi cutting inside. Messi sending it over. You can see the frustration with the Sorio and Insigne. Yeah, it just. Busquets, right to Messi, around Gomis. Suarez left hand, Jordi Alba. Oh, Messi. Look at him go. And he draws the foul. Messi will serve that again. He's looking at goal. Johnson got a touch out for another corner. Olympico still eluding the greatest of all time. It's just so difficult to judge. Corner Miami. They go quick. Messi, serving in. Rostead heads away. CONCACAF Cup quarterfinal. CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal. They have to play a good game and win on Sunday. Rostead going through Messi. The good game part, maybe they've achieved. Messi will serve and he floats it in. Headed away. Knocked in by Lujan. Oh, Johnson back. Give it away. Messi. Messi! Johnson going down to his right to make the save. But where have their best opportunities come from? And they've come from building out of the back and giving it away. And the one thing you cannot do against Miami away from is for Inter Miami, and it just hasn't been. To be that star, the highest paid player. Musquets and Jordi Alba. Messi. Had to get it to Jordi Alba. Oh, it was red and then almost left for Messi. Miami. Musquets leaves for Messi into Santiago Morales. Bernadeschi from behind takes it away. The really good ones in wide areas. This is Yannick Bright. Messi. Jordi Alba. Give it back to Messi. Federico Bernadeschi. Kinko. Messi. Signe pokes it away. Over to Ejo. They're not on the same page or he got it wrong. Musquets over to Messi. Messi in towards Obando. Coelho back to take it away. Messi. Coelho defending. Kinko. Top of the box. Yannick Bright. Now Messi. Over to Pico. Pico driving it in. Bernadeschi heads it away. Another corner. Subtle genius from Sergio Musquets. And now here's Messi for Miami. Morales. Messi. Drives it in. Dangerous. Back post! Over. Oh, what a chance for Fafa Pico. That was it. That was the chance. In swinging ball. Back post with real pace. Dominguez completely loses his runner, Fafa Pico. Federico Bernadeschi and Lionel Messi trading goals. Teams almost stealing all three points late.
