That guy right there is the biggest difference. Yeah I toasted my Gregorito last night when the news broke. John Hammond said that Vladi and the Jays agreed to a 14 year five hundred million dollar deal. It's good to see a homegrown player get that extension. So who's next. It's time for Greg's List. So here now is my Greg's List. Do you mind if I do a Greg's List. So this list is is my personal opinion. That is the crux of this Greg's List. Our quest to find out who is number one on Greg's List guys can hang out with me while we do this and you are number one on Greg's List. All right let me explain my criteria. Sure Kyle Tucker can get a contract extension with the Cubs. That's the second team. Sure Dylan Seuss could get a contract extension or Alex Brayman could opt out. So the Red Sox should rip it up and give it. I'm not talking about all these players. I want to talk about players that fit the criteria of Vladi Guerrero Jr. Homegrown. We don't want you to be a free agent. We want to wear this uniform for a long time. So with that said here are my nine players that you get. I don't know Vladdy type contract extensions but similar. I think Mason Miller starts this up. I'm starting I'm opening with a closer. How about that. Age 26 season he's got the best fastball of any bullpen reliever not named Ben Joyce. He's good. Fourteen point six Kaper nine. Come on athletics. You've invested in Brent Rooker invest in Mason Miller. Kerry Carpenter is a platoon player that needs to stop being a platoon player. Let him play every day. But since right now he is quote unquote not strong against South Paws. Let's see if you can buy low Detroit. Lock this dude up. He's your best hitter. Kerry Carpenter is number eight. I'm a gigantic Logan Ohopi fan. He's not just playing like an all star right now. This young catcher is playing like an MVP candidate. I'm not kidding. He's twenty five years old former twenty three rounder twenty third round pick Logan Ohopi. Give him an extension. He's great. Number six our producer Chris Collins by this guy a long time ago. Will you're a Bray you the right fielder for the Boston Red Sox. Lock him up. Get him that extension. He's leading baseball with a four eighty three batting average on base around six hundred. The gold Glover in right field. Fitz Fenway number six on Greg's list guys that need to get a contract extension. Logan Gilbert loves pitching in Seattle. He wants to stay there. That sounds eerily similar to Vlade Guerrero Junior. I love Toronto. I'd like to stay here. Hey M's pony up. He's your ace. Lock him up. Logan Gilbert is number five number four. I mean James Wood. I thought about making him number one. I'm not kidding. He's only twenty two years old. I'm throwing a couple of Hondo Adam couple hundred million. James would wear this uniform for a long time. Your one Soto two point. Oh bro we all see it. He's number four on Greg's list. Number three. I mean I almost think it's too late. But then again the Blue Jays did sign Vladimir Guerrero Junior in his walk here. Gunner Henderson's twenty three years old. He's under team control. Twenty twenty eight. How about we make that two thousand thirty eight. Give him a huge contract. Number two L.A. Dillon Cruz. He is he is your Vladimir Guerrero Junior. He is the next superstar. He's Eric Davis and Barry Larkin mixed together. I mean that's his comp. Think about that for a second. He's over to a number one Paul Skins don't make this the same Garrett Cole situation we saw before. Don't nickel and dime him arbitration make him grumpy and then hope there's a day where he gets traded Paul Skins. He's your organization. Back up the truck. Back it's time already. I've seen enough. Paul Skins is the face of the franchise and pay the man. I love the contract extension stuff guys because I grew up loving baseball in the 80s. We saw players wear the same uniform their entire career. What do you think of my list. You like it. Love the list. I'm with you on Paul Skins. He'd be the guy you get the contract. Right now the pirates are searching for an identity. I get it. It's risky with the starting pitcher in an occupation where in one pitch a career could be gone. You could be headed for Tommy John. The pirates are desperately trying to build some momentum. Listen we have the best stable of young starting pitching in all of baseball potentially. And if I'm the pirates I want to try everything I can to lock them up. The first thing when I go around and people ask me hey what about hey what's this Skins guy like. When you think of Skins you think of the pirates you think of the pirates you think of Skins. I'm with you. That's why he's number one on Greg's list. How did I do. Is that list all good. Fantastic. And I think the one thing was remember when our polls got locked up with the Cardinals. Yeah. First time around you got to get these guys. We watched Lingoria and we watched the guys in Tampa and we see that every now and then. Zack Nettles my guy for the Angels. I mean you drafted him first. You watched him with an injury and now you come back and say you're our guy. Let's lock him up. And and you got you got to look for things that are going to work where guys aren't going to run to free agency. They're not going to wait. You've got to make the money work for both sides. So we're invested in you already. We drafted first. We brought you the big leagues quick. Yeah you're our guy. We're going to invest in you again because the foundation of what they're building right now is looking pretty good in Anaheim. And this is the cornerstone defender and offensive guy for you at shortstop. I think that's very important. But if I'm in front of Oregon front office I'm looking for fit. I'm talking agent. I'm talking player. I'm talking somebody who's going to do the deal. Why are the Braves have all the guys locked up because they had the fit. Albies said I'll take the deal. Riley I'll take the deal. Acuna Acuna I'll take the deal. If the player says I'm not taking the deal then it doesn't work for you. And so that's what I think you got to look at what player I identify with. And that's why I like the list. You know I don't believe Gunner Henderson is not going to go to free agency. That's why. What about James Wood. You're the Washington Nationals and you were trying to give a four hundred million dollar contract to Juan Soto. Don't you see already if you had the money to do that for Juan Soto can't you already tell that James what is a man. That's the thing Greg. They do all this scouting for a draft. I want to know where you come from. I want to know your background. I want to know who you are. Then they make this trade and it doesn't matter. James Wood wasn't drafted by them. They knew who he was. Right right right. They do the homework for trade even. But this is all 30 teams. You know what you're getting. So my frustration for me as the fan is like we just invested five million dollars in draft this kid and you didn't extend it. But it doesn't stop there. Now it's like let's lock him up. You know what you're getting. That's that's how I see it. I love knowing that I can buy Vladimir Guerrero Blue Jay jersey and it's not going to go out of style for a really long time. I like the thought of a guy. Do you guys not think you could have maybe got him cheaper a couple of years ago. Oh no doubt. Exactly. I mean look at the deal that Raffi Devers got. He didn't come close to four hundred million dollars but Raffi Devers the last couple of games playing like a four hundred million dollar player. Rafi Devers has returned.
