This abandoned seal enclosure was once part of a zoology and marine biology program.
In 1966 the seal tank, with one seal and one otter, was installed, ultimately expanding to house as many as 26 seals including Russian seals donated by the Soviet government, as well as dolphins.
The project was eventually cancelled due to the high cost of food, chemicals and labor, and shrinking grant support.
Now, the enclosure sits entirely abandoned, overgrown and fenced off but still slightly visible by the curious passers-by who walk the trails in the area.

Okay what's up guys so here we are today I was told about an abandoned animal testing facility
and enclosure for what I'm told were seals. So you look back here behind me that's an
abandoned seal enclosure and there's another one over there and then there's a building over there
so we're going to walk around and see what I can find here. I don't know that we're going to find
much this will be a super short video guys so stay with me see what we can figure out about this

there's a some kind of a foundation of something right here and then we got some something going
on here pumps water down there man it's so overgrown I can't even see through to see what's
all right let's go see what's in this enclosure here
that's the building we ran over there yeah okay so this is another enclosure here

and this is where they would keep the seals they would do testing on seals is what I was told
and this is where they would be kept
all right so here's the other side of the pump house we were in there's another enclosure over
here and I see some lights and as we go through here there's lockers there's lockers in here wow
this place is old holy crap so there's more to it than I thought it goes back further
oh man it's so hard to get through yeah there's another enclosure right here look at this
yeah here we go there's another one wow there's two of them here okay another one here
and we got big spotlights up there this one's way overgrown and then we got another one over here
wow this is pretty cool guys okay so here's that boat I think the guy that told me about this told
me that there's two boats that are here somewhere I gotta do a little bit more digging but I can't
see anything throughout all the overgrowth I don't know guys there's a hole down probably a
groundhog hole or something now watch where I step out here all right let's go guys because
the whole place is surrounded by a fence so I'll know where the boundaries are
here's the pond down here what's up guys nothing in here though nothing to see
all right I don't know guys I'm not sure what else we're going to find here
all right so we got some kind of a building here it's basically like a pump room
maybe this was used to circulate the water through the enclosures over here
so the first and one enclosure is over there and the roof's all gone but yeah it just basically
looks like like a pump room in a utility room see if we can figure this place out guys no idea
what I'm looking for or what I'm looking at so look at the roof though hey wow all right let's
go outside here see what we can figure out out here guys it's very thick it's overgrowth
very very thick I know for sure that there's two animal enclosures hope I don't walk out
with the tick on me in here guys all right so this here I believe this is one of the seal enclosures
here let's go in and take a look all right hope there's nobody left inside there man this place
is old all right I don't know how much we're gonna see here but let's keep walking around and
figure it out guys there's a little set of stairs here either for the animals probably for the
probably for the animals to swim around and then climb up and hang out up here
all right so now we're in the bottom of the second enclosure where we would definitely be underwater
there's a filter right here yeah so this is definitely stairs for whatever would live in
here to get up and go up there if you can see it there's jets right there to help circulate the
water all right that's that see what else we can find out here guys okay so here's the fence
the perimeter there's something over here some kind of enclosure for something that would live
in here barbed wire fence I don't know guys it's not looking good
all right I think I'm at the end I think I found it all so we've got fenced in enclosure here
no water we've got the water enclosure right there and it goes over here there's another
fenced off area here here's the lights so I think this is it guys I think I've got everything
