It's mind-blowing! What SpaceX Just did with Crew Dragon shocked Starliner astronauts...
Fram 2 just become one of the most captivating crewed space missions, drawing immense attention for its breathtaking, never-before-seen images from space and, more notably, the bold design of the special Dragon Cupola built by SpaceX.
So, what exactly happening throughout this mission?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech!

It has been over two days since the Fram 2 mission launched into space on March 31, marking a historic milestone as four astronauts embarked on their first journey beyond Earth. Leading the mission is commander and sponsor Chun Wang (Malta), accompanied by three other crew members: vehicle commander Jannicke Mikkelsen (Norway), pilot Rabea Rogge (Germany), and medical officer Eric Phillips (Australia).

Though this marks the 626th orbital flight around Earth, Fram 2 is the first crewed mission to follow a polar orbit—entirely different from the equatorial orbits commonly used. Even astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have never witnessed the breathtaking sights that the Fram 2 crew is now experiencing.

On April 1, SpaceX released stunning footage from the Crew Dragon spacecraft "First views of Earth's polar regions from Dragon."
This video captures the icy landscapes of Earth’s poles through its 1.2-meter-wide panoramic window—a unique 360-degree perspective. This is only the second Dragon spacecraft equipped with a cupola window, offering humanity rare views never seen before.

Elon Musk was also thrilled by this achievement. He shared a video from Dragon and proudly stated: "The first astronauts to orbit the poles."

Besides, astronauts aboard Fram 2 also have continuously sent footage back to Earth, revealing the awe-inspiring beauty of space and the polar regions from this extraordinary vantage point.

Beyond its symbolic significance, Fram 2 celebrates the crew’s passion for polar exploration, continuing the spirit of groundbreaking space missions like SpaceX’s Inspiration4 in 2021. It is the first time humans have flown directly over both of Earth’s poles from space—an ambitious journey requiring significantly more fuel than conventional orbital paths. While the ISS remains close to the equator, the planet’s frozen peaks lie far beyond its field of view. Before Fram 2, the closest any mission had come to a polar orbit was the Soviet Union’s Vostok 6 in 1963, which flew at a 65-degree inclination. In contrast, Fram 2 has achieved a perfect 90-degree inclination, flying perpendicular to the equator.
