One of the big things in terms of a Diamondbacks successful
season is the rotation of course that means the return from
injury last year of the big left hander Eduardo Rodriguez who
will make his season debut.
Suzuki has been very quiet in the opening games of the season
just two for twenty one.
And that one ripped into center field and a base hit.
And now Justin Turner behind in the count two and 0.
Rolled right to Perdomo it's going to go to second careful
there but again to the out that time and a scoreless first
Diamondbacks coming up we get our first look in the regular
season and Matthew Boyd left handed starting pitcher Ritchick
in the cleanup spot.
Here's the pitch swung on and missed he got him on a high
fastball as B. Swanson leads off of the Cubs.
Here's the high fly ball deep left center field.
This ball's got a chance gone Dan's B. Swanson with a long
home run and the Cubs lead one to nothing.
He hit that ball out near the 413 sign in left center and it
cleared the wall by plenty.
That's one of the longer home runs we've seen Dan's be hit
ever.
Josh Naylor digs in for his first at bat as the one to
swing in a ground ball right side giving up on it is Horner
here he baffles it and Naylor is going to beat it out.
Here comes Suarez who has hit four home runs in the first
three games of this series.
Swing and a miss ring him up two down now and here's the
catcher Jose Herrera.
In the air right field Horner out waving his arms.
Nico has it and makes the play.
So back to back walks and now you've got to face Dan's B.
Swanson.
Here's your ground ball.
Gino gets it started.
Hampson turns it they got to here's Horner first pitch swung
on and a lazy fly to right Grichuk coming in he'll make the
catch.
The inning is over and the Cubs who had runners at first and
second with nobody out don't score here's Josh who singled in
the second and now the three to pitch Naylor takes it for ball
four and that's going to bring up Alec Thomas a pitch from
Boyd swing and a line drive right center field that's a base
hit Naylor will hold it second Tucker Cape charging in ready
to throw two on and two out for Jose Herrera and one two on the
ground right at Nico picks it up and throws it out the shortstop
Geraldo Perdomo at the plate.
But it it's a good one Horner gets over.
Out at first well done by Nico he's scrambled to the bag held
on to the base and Perdomo is waiting to see if they're going
to look at it.
They will not tell.
Wow not an easy play at all for Boyd's great work by Nico to
hang on make the play and now it's going to be up to Grichuk
Boyd works his motion the two to a swing and a miss strike three
got him with the fastball Marte stranded at second.
Is he at half the three two is outside it is ball for say
Suzuki batting Suzuki drills this one out towards right
center field this one back on its way.
God says Suzuki will touch him all and the Cubs take a three
nothing lead Suzuki with his first of the season Tori
Lovello now off his perch and out of the field and out to make
a change.
Brian Thompson coming in two down and here's the shortstop
Swanson slider swung on popped up on the infield and Garrett
Hampson just in front of second base makes the catch and the
inning is over.
It is right hander Nate Pearson making his third outing of the
season.
He works to Josh Naylor.
Naylor's been aboard all three times he has singled and walked
twice.
We'll get a pinch hitter for Hampson.
Here comes Pavin Smith into the gap that gets down.
Yeah go Josh go Naylor chugging into third they're going to
stop him there.
Pinch hit double who's got a Craven for Pavin pinch hit
double by Pavin Smith sets up second and third with only one
out.
You need something positive here from Alec Thomas second and
third one out.
Live all right field Alex Alex Thomas comes up just shy.
This will get a run home Naylor chugging in Pavin into third
and third at just missed tying the game there but he gets the
Diamondbacks on the board.
Now we're seeing another pinch hitter runner at third two outs.
Here comes Corbin Carroll as a bouncer out toward short scooped
up by Swanson throw to first in time.
So the damage is minimal.
Most the guy the D-backs need to get going here.
Lord is Scurrio Jr.
Well that's going to help Curtis shoots one through the hole out
there and now two on for Moreno.
Now the one oh fastball swung off that's ripped into left
field a base hit Marte going to be sent home he will score RBI
single for Gabby and the Diamondbacks are just down a
run.
Big swing by Moreno really showing his offensive prowess.
New pitcher for the Cubs is the veteran left hander Caleb
Theobar is facing Josh Naylor.
Theobar brought in to get the left hander he loses him on four
pitches and they're loaded for Gino.
And boy is this set up or what.
Only six players in major league
history have homered in four
consecutive games to start a
season to two struck him out.
Wow.
Big strikeout for Caleb Theobar
and now the D-backs going to their final bench option.
Jake McCarthy the one on the way
swinging a bouncer toward first
love by Turner unassisted play
for out number three Diamondbacks have brought on
left hander Joe Bade applied
Miguel Amaya first up the pitch
swing and a liner base hit out of the right center field.
Ian Hap steps in on the ground the third.
Hap first and second nobody out.
Seah Suzuki has the game's big
blow it.
Perdomo at shortstop Marte for one.
Yes they are.
They're going to challenge this
and it's the eighth inning.
So if it's close yes they're
going to be so bold as to mark
say a safe at first base on my
scorecard after review the ruling
at second base is confirmed the
runner is out the ruling at first
base first and third one away
Kyle Tucker do up and that is
hammered right field way back.
Forget it.
We'll touch them all for the
Cubs lead it six to two.
Bang yeah.
He took a swing at that one like
he knew it was coming back on
that breaking ball and unloaded
back to back walks and Craig
Council's going to go get him.
Eli Morgan making his second
appearance.
Here's Geraldo Perdomo.
It almost slams it to right
center that gets down and here
we go.
Alec will score here comes
Corbin Geraldo Perdomo with a
two run double and the D-Bex
will bring the tying run to the
plate as it's now six to four
one out Guerrero at the plate.
Guerrero Guerrero's first of the
season or did not come at a good
time.
A fastball just up in the zone
over the middle of the plate.
Guerrero who's already hit a
couple of line drives to left
field this game.
This time he got it elevated and
sent a screaming over the wall
and left.
And now Gabriel Moreno three two
for Morgan reached for again
that's poked in the right field
of a set and the go ahead run is
on for Naylor.
Moore runs already home.
Naylor to center from Armstrong
can go get him.
Not this time.
Go Gabby go.
He's going to score.
And the Diamondbacks have the
lead.
Suarez was walked intentionally
because the Diamondbacks have
the pitcher spot up.
And so Ryan Nelson is going to
come up and pinch hit.
Come on.
Two in one on Nelly get through.
There it is.
Ryan Nelson's got a RBI knock.
He's driven in one and get the
second run at home as Gino's
out.
Oh my goodness.
Ryan Nelson with an RBI single
he's grinning from ear to ear.
And even with the out at the
plate the Diamondbacks lead at
eight to six.
Unbelievable Alec Thomas who led
off this inning with a walk
swaying line drive right field
base hit Nelson going to be
waved around third and he will
score.
And the magical eighth inning for
the Diamondbacks comes to an end
you would think with the pitcher
Nelson bringing home the ninth
run of the day.
Colin Ray is now doing the
pitching for the Cubs.
Corbin Carroll will be the first
first man to face him.
Slices one to deep left center
Crow Armstrong will play it off
the wall.
They're going to wave Alec
Thomas.
There's no throw and it's ten to
six.
And Carroll with an RBI double to
make it an eight run bottom of
the eight.
It's not over yet.
Kyle Tucker is due up if Kyle
gets on the tying run would be
up again for the Cubs.
Got him.
Backs close out a sensational
comeback the largest comeback
win in the majors so far this
year.
